You will enjoy how much the sleek look of UWS's Low Profile Series complements the latest designs of today's trucks. The toolbox sits just 2" above the truck bed rails instead of the standard 4," providing a better view out the back window for maneuvering or keeping an eye on your load. The insulated, beveled, single lid opens fully to 90 degrees with the help of two super-duty lift cylinders, which raise the lid and hold it open as you load and unload your gear. Smaller items and tools can be stored conveniently on the divided, sliding tray, ensuring they are readily available for use.

What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out this UWS Truck Bed Toolbox, it's gonna be a low-profile design with a crossover style as well, and we're putting it on this 2020 Ford F-150. Let's check it out. I wanna explain why I talked about the low-profile design, it's gonna be what the box adds to the top of your truck bed rails, it's gonna be about three inches it's gonna add, and if you look through the back glass of the F-150, you can see it's underneath the seat and the headrest, so it's not gonna impede your view in the rear view mirror at all. Now, for the crossover design, that's gonna be this gap here underneath the box, it means the box doesn't go all the way down to the bed of the truck, so there's room to throw a cargo and slide it in here and still close the tailgate, that way, you don't sacrifice your whole bed by putting a toolbox in there. Now, where this one measures out, it's gonna be about 9 1/2 inches of space there, because we have a bed mat in the truck, so it's taken up a little bit of that space.
So we have two latches on the front, it's what open it, they're here on the inside, got one on the passenger, one on the driver. The one on the driver's side actually locks, so then you can't open it if you don't have the keys, that's nice, that way, if you load it up with all your tools, you don't have to worry about them, you can lock it up when you're not around. Latches are really easy to use, just pull on it, the lid opens on its own, the gas struts push it up, it's not super aggressive, but it's nice that you don't have to help it at all. Do it again just to show you, pops right up, and stops before it makes contact with the cab. Take a look at the inside of the latches, they work in unison, so when you pull one of them, it does the other one at the same time, there's a rod that's connecting them.
I like that there's a shield that protects that rod, that way, if you're throwing tools in there, not looking, you just kinda throw something kinda heavy, you're not gonna let it bounce back and hit or damage that rod that would break them being attached to each other. Looking up here is where the strikers are gonna be mounted and you can loosen those, move them side to side, that way, they always connect like they're supposed to. If something happens down the line where they get loose and they're kinda outta line and then the lid doesn't close, you can actually adjust that to get it back to new. Another important thing to the longevity of the box is gonna be the gas strut, this is what's gonna push the lid open as you saw me do earlier. Now, this can be replaced if something was to get damaged or it just wears out over time, so you don't have to buy a whole nother box.
This is gonna be 7 1/2 cubic feet of space here in the toolbox, you also got a sliding tray up top, so you can throw your most used tools up here and put it on either side wherever you need it, whether they're on the driver or the passenger's side, it slides really easily. It's also plastic, so it's not a metal tray in there that's gonna rattle and add noise as you're going down the road. We got holes along here to hold screwdrivers, I like that, so you can drop those in. One thing to be careful of though is the tallest screwdrivers, don't put too close to the gas strut, because when you go to close the lid, it's gonna make contact, you won't be able to shut the lid, you'd have to put it a little further back over here, and that way, it's out of the way. So the other toolbox like a Weather Guard have its own section for the gas strut, and I kinda like that a little bit better just because it's all sectioned off, kinda would be like up here and you wouldn't be able to put anything in the way, so it always close no matter what.
If we're gonna look at the lid, you can see the foam outline around the outside, and that's gonna help seal it up when you close it, keep the elements from getting in there. The lid itself is gonna be foam injected, so it's not just hollow, so that's not only gonna help insulate the box, but hold its own structure, so if you we're to put something heavy on the lid, it wouldn't dent or damage it. Now, with that foam and the overlip here, I just wanted to show you, this is where we'll be if it would just went on top, but I liked that it hangs off a little bit more, giving you more protection, so the elements aren't gonna go up and in. The whole box is made out of black powder coated aluminum. Now, it is a glossy black aluminum, but it has the diamond pattern on top that adds a little bit of texture on there, and I like that just in case you scratch it up just a little bit, it won't be as easy to see. Overall, I really like the toolbox, this is a good addition to the F-150 just to keep your tools all organized and locked up, so that nobody can get to them when you're not around. Plus, with a crossover style, you can still use the truck bed for those longer loads of lumber or maybe a ladder and close the tailgate. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out, and hope this helped..

It’s a tool box well made 3218031
I've had this tool box for about a year. Its held up well without issue. This replaced a 9 year old tool box from Lowes that cracked at the bed support. So far so good on this one. The locking and opening mechanism works great and is covered so things dont bind it up. The only strange thing is that after a windy snow storm there was snow inside the tool box and I hadn't driven anywhere. 766376
After 2 weeks I finally got my toolbox this is good for a 2001 Ford ranger stepside it doesn't say it would fit but I measured it before I bought it had one little ding in the corner but I touched it up with spray paint overall it's an excellent toolbox and it fit perfectly this is originally for a Chevy S10 but I measured it and it fits good I would recommend this to anyone who owns a Ford ranger stepside! Check out the pictures you can see how well it fits! It is hard to find a toolbox that fits a Ford ranger stepside I used to work in the Marine Corps parts department in the motor pool so I know how to measure parts at first they said this wouldn't fit my truck but I told them I measured it!1006713
This toolbox is a true work of art! Excellent craftsmanship in the welds. The latches work well and the top opens up nicely. I received the toolbox fast. It was well packaged for protection against shipping damage. It even came shipped in 2 boxes. The care this company took in protecting the toolbox during shipment assures me that they care about their product.3190644
When I purchased the toolbox I forgot to mention that I have a bed liner in my vehicle. Therefore I had to put a 3/4 inch spacer on the top bed rails so the bottom of the toolbox would clear the bed liner over the wheel wells and fuel tank spout. Other then that I really have enjoyed the toolbox and have gotten many compliments as well.1505625
great box much better than one from tractor supply and other places very solid construction you can feel the difference i like it1514057
Been happy with my purchase. I gave it 4/5 stars because it arrived with a dent on the lid that I was able to remove with a rubber mallet and a 2x4. The metal inside reflects poor workmanship. There are some sharp edges near the latch mechanism that I discovered firsthand after reaching in there. Aside from those issues it has functioned well and I find the dual lid release latches are convenient.1372652
