An easy-to-assemble, multi-room tent with room for my husband and me to stand or to put an air mattress in? It sounds too good to be true, but it's not! I love that you can stand up in the Sportz SUV Tent and that you can have the luxury of a mini mudroom and a living space so you don't track dirt and grime into where you're laying your head down to sleep at night. You can still enjoy star-gazing as well as having a nice, little hook to hang your lantern from at the top of the tent. The tent attaches to the trunk of your SUV, which is awesome, because you get the perks of glamping while still enjoying the naturalism that comes with traditional camping. While it is a little bulky, I love how easy to assemble it is. This is not for your lightweight, once-in-a-blue-moon camper; at its price point, it's affordable if you plan on going camping regularly but a bit expensive if you're just a one-and-done type of camper. All I know is I wanted to lay down, stare at the stars, and spend a few nights in it, and that's only after spending just a little bit of time with the tent! Imagine if I got to know it better. It's worth the splurge! I definitely recommend this tent for the weekender camper.
Just my honest two cents on a cool tent!
I am Jesse, an etrailer.com employee. I got a chance to test out the Napier Sports SUV tent the other day. The first impression was impressive. The tent is very roomy. I am a bit over 6 foot tall and I did not have to duck to fit inside and I did not feel cramped at all.
My family spends a lot of days at the river during the summer and this tent would be an amazing addition for our van. A great way to bring some shade with you and have a space relax and get out of the sun for a bit. Also good for keeping bugs away.
The tent material seems durable so this is something that can last multiple seasons with proper care. The tent itself was straightforward to set up, and the same is true when packing the tent up. It fits back in the original carrying bag easily. Overall this tent certainly seems like a more versatile step up from other brands, one that I would not hesitate to take with me on day trips or weekend trips with the family.
My name is Aris and I am an etrailer employee that had the pleasure of reviewing the Napier ground tent, the Napier truck bed tent with link and the Napier SUV tent. I really love the concept of these products. With the truck bed tent, I love that you are able to sleep in the bed of the truck and can add a mattress or whatever you need to make it comfortable! It is perfect if there are just one or two people camping and a great way to not have to sleep on the ground in a traditional tent. It has a great price point and the link addition to it is an awesome concept. I will say, I experienced the SUV tent first and with all of the room in that, I did think that the link portion would be included with the truck bed tent. I am not that excited that the link extension costs more than the truck bed tent but I also understand that it can be used independently. I still just wish that it would have been a little less expensive and included with the truck bed tent but overall it is still a pretty good price. The Napier SUV tent was my favorite!!! I loved that it has rooms! A small mud or entry room, the main room and then the SUV portion. I think this is an ingenious design. I will say, if you are not an avid camper, then the price may stun you a little. Overall, I think it is well worth it for the family that regularly camps! Although my back issues make the ground tent my least favorite, I will say that I LOVE that it comes with not one, but two sleeping bags! That was an amazing idea and hats off to the person that thought to do that! Over all, all of the tents are pretty good quality and not bad on the price points. The added sleeping bags with the ground tent, not having to sleep on the ground with the truck bed tent and all the features of the SUV tent makes them well worth the investment!
Hello there, I'm Victoria and I am apart of the etrailer Reviews team. I had the opportunity recently to test out the Napier Sports SUV Tent with a teammates Kia Crossover. I really enjoyed the set up with this, especially the included screen room. This would be a great accessory to keep the outside, outside when we transition into the tent after a long day of exploring outdoors. The giant layout made having 5 plus people in the tent at once still spacious enough for comfort, but still felt nice and cozy. I really enjoyed how you can tell Napier didn't cut any corners when it comes to the design of the tent, the materials used, as well as the install instructions.
So easy to set up! Perfect for rock climbing trip.
You'll see my video review here on the site, but wanted to leave a personal review too. That's how much I enjoyed using this tent. I used it for a rock climbing trip with some friends where we had a day and a half to go climb Jackson Falls. Which meant we didn't want to waste any time camping This tent was perfect because it was a super quick set up and tear down. We chose to only set up the main room and not use the screen room or SUV room because my car couldn't drive to the campsite and the screen room would've gotten too close to the campfire. Less than 15 minutes set up and there was plenty of space for 4 adults and all our rope and climbing gear. Kind of heavy, but no big deal since our campsite was close-ish to the car. So on the personal side of things, I really enjoyed this tent and will continue to use it for personal trips!
I just set up my second SportSUV for 12 Weekends of camping in a row. It is replacing one that I bought 3 years ago and used 24 weekends of the year, often leaving it setup unattended during the week. Never leaked, Never got blown over, no tears, and literally no faults that I din't cause myself. I forgot to undo the tire lashes once and tore the point where they anchor to the tent, but even then still remained usable and wasn;t too hard to patch. I did last year purchase a replacement "tunnel" ( the bit that fits over your vehicle) and while I verified and confirmed it was the right replacement - it wasn't and when zipped up had about 8" that gapped open. While inconvenient it did not impede the use of the tent. The main reason why we replaced it is that we had put a couple holes in the floor and sides unintentionally and we had the means to do so, so we did. For those not wanting to sleep on the ground, this is the best option on the market to camp and semi Glamp. One HINT: if you are putting up the tent in sandy soil and it's going to be up for more than a day or two... get Sand Screws to anchor the rain fly to... I slept in the tent one night last year with sustained winds at 20mph in a thunderstorm and while noisy, it didn't budge one bit. I also replaced the tent stakes provided with ones that are 16" for the rest of the tent - a bit more weight to carry but this isn't a tent you bundle up and lash to your Ruck so no worries there. We are keeping our original SportSUV, unzipping the "tunnel", as a spare room, guest quarters, or just an extra enclosed space. Might even use my old Theater Sewing Skills to rig a bit to connect the two "Screen Rooms" together.
