When you're hitching up before a long day of fishing, or putting away your boat before cleaning your catch, you want to be able to do it with about as much effort as casting a line. But sometimes it can be a real pain in the arm to crank your boat trailer up and down, even when the sun and rain isn't beating down on you.
Trailer Valet was thinking of you when they made this jack. Just slot the included drill attachment into your power drill's 1/2" chuck, remove the handle from the jack's driveshaft, and attach the drill in its place. Squeeze the trigger slowly to avoid too much torque off the bat. This will wind the gears at top speed, lifting or lowering your trailer in no time.
Quick Tip: While your power drill is meant to make operation faster, the higher torque it creates may mean a reduced lift capacity. If you'd rather get more lift capacity out of the jack, we suggest sticking with the included hand crank instead.
Most rust-resistant coatings, like zinc, go on smooth. But this creates one big drawback: smooth finishes are easy to scratch, exposing the bare metal beneath and allowing rust and corrosion to take hold. So, the bright, shiny finish you see on day one might not last as long as you'd like.
Trailer Valet solves this issue by applying a rough powder coat finish on top of the zinc-nickel plated outer tube that's harder to scuff and scratch. Basically, by giving the jack a rougher "terrain," this finish helps keep the jack from aging too quickly.
Not only is this jack weather resistant, but you can safely submerge it in saltwater! It's difficult to see without taking the jack apart, but between the zinc-nickel plated tubes, there is a nylon sleeve that prevents water ingress. Though you'll want to make sure you rinse it off with freshwater after, just for good measure.
A trailer jack lifts your trailer high enough at the tongue to allow you to couple it with your vehicle. Usually, your tongue weight is about 10-15% of your gross trailer weight (GTW). For example, a 10,000-lb trailer has a tongue weight of 1,000 lbs to 1,500 lbs. To raise the tongue of a trailer this size, you'd need a jack that can handle a static load of no less than 1,500 lbs. And, yes, it's okay to have a jack with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's tongue weight. In fact, a jack with a higher capacity should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time fishing.

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Trailer Valet JXS Side-Wind Trailer Jack with Wheel. Now this jack is going to support, lift and lower your boat or recreational trailer. This is going to work as a power jack when used with an 18-volt or a 24-volt cordless. And you wanna make sure that it's a non-impact drill.
And this does include this drill adapter that's going to attach to where our handle is attached right now. And it's gonna be very easy to remove. You probably can't see it from there, but there is a little push button here that's going to allow you to easily remove this handle. And then you'll just go ahead and insert that drill bit and then you can use your drill to turn this into a powered jack. So that's very easy to swap out.
I'm gonna go ahead and put that handle back on. And so you're just gonna have that swapped out in a matter of seconds. And so this is going to be for trailer frames up to three and three-quarters inches wide by four and three-quarters inches tall. This does require six inches of clearance along the frame to install the included bracket. Lemme see if I can give you a closeup view of that.
So I'm just trying to be careful here and balance the jack on my table with the wheel. So giving you a view of the bracket. So this jack does feature a lift capacity with a drill of 600 pounds. And then when using the crank, it's gonna be 1200 pounds. And then this has a support capacity of 2000 pounds.
And then the bracket height is going to be slightly different depending on if you use the included foot plate or the wheel. So the measurements that I'm gonna give you is going to be from the center of the bracket to the end of the jack right here. So right above the wheel because that's gonna be the same measurements if you measure from here with the wheel on or to the foot plate because the foot plates you're gonna lose quite a bit of height rather than if you use the wheel. The wheel obviously gives you a little more height. So all that to say when you have the jack fully retracted as I have it here from the center of our bracket to the bottom of the jack, it's gonna be about seven inches. And then when it's fully extended, it's gonna be about 21 inches. And then this is gonna give you the a screw travel of 14 inches. Now we do have this information and other bits of measurement and information on this product page underneath the Spec section. So if there's something else that you're looking for regarding this jack that I didn't cover with you regarding measurement details or things like that, be sure to check the Spec section of this product page. Obviously this includes this caster wheel, so you're gonna be able to easily move your trailer. And then this is going to be very easy to swap out here with this pin. So you're just going to remove this safety pin and clip here that's included. And then that's going to allow me to remove the caster there. And then the foot plate includes a safety pin as well, see if I can do this one handed. There we go, and so you'll just place this foot plate in place just like that and then replace the pin and clip, line up the holes and it's really going to be a pretty easy swap just like that. So as you can see, the jack is significantly shorter when you're using the foot plate rather than the caster. So you've got both of those options that are gonna be included with this. And this is also going to stow safely out of the way for travel. This is going to lock into place when stowed and it's gonna be parallel to the tongue. So you'll just swing this up. And this has a spring loaded pin here that you're going to pull. And then that's going to, as you can see, it's going to come out of this hole here. So that's going to allow this to move separately from the bracket that's mounted on your trailer. So you can swing this parallel to the tongue and it'll be retracted and out of your way. So that's gonna be very easy to do. This isn't going to shake or rattle or overheat during operation. The nylon sleeve fitting between the tubes is going to ensure a smooth glide and the durable precision machine tubing is going to limit rattle. And the composite gears are gonna do a great job of dissipating heat. So as you can see, this is gonna be a very smooth operation. There's no binding or struggling with this or anything like that. The inner tube is two inches in diameter. The outer tube is two-and-a-quarter inches in diameter. This has a gear ratio of three to four. This is gonna do a great job of resisting rust and corrosion. I'm giving you another closeup view here again with this, has a really nice, it feels premium to me. Wrinkled black powder coat finish. So this is gonna be great to use even in areas with salt because this has a 700-hour salt spray rating. And then the zinc-nickel inner and outer tubes are gonna be submersible in water and this is gonna last years, thanks for the durable steel construction. And as you might have already seen, this does have a grease zerk here for easy maintenance. Lemme go back up to my wide view so you can see that. So we have a zerk fitting right there. And then so you're not have to worry about removing or re-lubricating gears, that zerk will take care of everything for you. So again, this is going to bolt around your trailer frame with the included hardware, instructions are included, operating manual. And then just a Quick Start guide to get you going. Well, I think that's gonna wrap up our real quick look today. I do hope that our brief time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
