Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Video Transcript for Trailer Hitch Installation - 2005 Honda Element

Today in our 2005 Honda Element. We'll be installing the draw-tite hitch, part number 75659. Here's what our hitch looks like installed on a vehicle. Now, we'll go ahead and give you a couple of measurements in helping you choose some accessories for your hitch such as a ball mount, bicycle rack or cargo carrier. From the center the hitch and hole to the edge of the bumper is approximately three inches and from the top of the opening on the hitch to the ground is approximately thirteen and a half inches. Now let's go ahead and install our hitch.

To begin with, we will go ahead and point out the mounting locations on the vehicle. You will notice that there are two on each the driver and the passenger side. As well as we will be using the tow hook at the center of the vehicle on the rear. Here we will show you how a half inch bolt with a half inch washer install the tube spacer through the inside hole on the frame. A three quarter inch flat wash will go and then on the inside of the hitch, a half inch conical toothed washer followed by a half inch nut.

The same process will be repeated for all four locations. Now for the center section or the tie down hook. We use a U bolt which is a 3 inch U bolt and 3 inch flange hex lock nuts. Now let's go ahead and install our hardware in to the vehicles frame. You need to repeat this process for all four locations.

Now go ahead and get someone to help you raise the hitch into place. While doing this, you need to slide the three quarter inch washer over the bolt as you push it back through the frame and through the hitch. Remember the three quarter inch flat wash needs to go between frame and the trailer hitch. Once you have all four of the bolts pushed in. Go ahead and put the half inch conical toothed washer follower by the half inch hex nut on each.

Do not tighten it down all the way this time. Once you have all four of these done. We will move over to the U bolt. You'll slide the U bolt to through the tow hook and then through the two holes on the hitch then you will install the two three ace flange hex nuts. Now you have all the hardware installed, we need to start with tightening down the U bolt first. As you tighten it down, you need to make sure that you keep it centered on the bracket and evenly tighten them. So, go ahead and tighten one side of the U bolt down followed by a level on the other side work back and forth until you have it snugged. Once you have it snugged down, go ahead torque it to the manufacturer's specification. With that done we will move back over to the half inch bolts and nuts. Let's go ahead and tighten them all down. We'll go ahead and torque those down to the manufacturer's specification as well. Now we are complete the installation of our draw-tite hitch, part number 75659 on our 2005 Honda Element. .

The hitch for my 2010 Honda Element arrived very quickly and in good condition. The shipping box was solid, but the hitch was basically loose inside the box. Installation was easy. I recommend that you use masking tape to hold the large fender washers to the outside of the mounting plates - it makes it simple to get everything lined up. Be careful not to drop the tubular spacers into the frame rails - it would be tough to get them back out again. Put the bolts through the frame first, then put the spacers on the bolts. (Remove in the opposite order, or you risk dropping the spacer into the frame rail.) I installed the forward set of bolts loosely, allowing me to pivot the hitch up into position and mark the bumper cover for trimming (I have an SC model - no trimming is required for the EX or LX models). One thing that would be handy would be a paper trimming template for the SC bumper cover - it would be a simple addition to the instruction sheet. Put masking tape on the bumper to protect it and give you a place to mark out the cuts. The bumper material cuts easily with a coping saw or power spiral saw; cut undersized and then file or sand the opening to size and for clean appearance. The hitch lined up perfectly with all the mounting points on the frame, and it is a good, solid hitch. The hardware was all of very good quality, packaged nicely. The bracket to the left of the receiver does tend to get in the way of hitch-pin locks, but nothing I couldn't work around. Overall the service from etrailer.com was excellent! 8425

I have to say etrailer hooked it up. Ordered my hitch on a Tuesday and got it the next day, got to give them a high five on that. I have a 2011 Honda Element EX, needed a hitch for my bike rack. I was looking for a hitch that would fit without any issues. Picked the Draw-Tite because it had a great review and the people on the Honda Element Forums suggested it. After I got the hitch it took about 15 min to install, actually it took longer to torque the bolts down than the actual install. As you can see from the photo their is a little bit of bumper bend but nothing that you would notice unless you looked really close. Thanks again etrailer it was great doing business with you. 16549

Thanks TJ!Its really helpful your comment and pics, especially the one with the bend. Im just wondering if DrawTite fixed this a bit of bend issue with the latest product or, its really small bend to notice, as you mentioned above. It would be nice if you can post a pic from the back, just like the other once, but without the bike carrier. I just want to see how it looks without the carrier from the back.Anyway, thanks for your review! It really helps us to decide to go with this hitch.Cheers,

My thanks to the previous customers for photos and videos. It helped. Also, E-Trailer BOM was complete with no missing items, and included basic instructions. Hitch arrived within a few days. Ordinarily I have had hitches installed for me in the past. But this Honda Element hitch (have 2010 Element) did not require drilling and the pictures and videos from previous customers made the installation appear pretty simple. Note the sleeve/spacer will only slide on the bolt from the inner side of the frame so cannot pre-assemble on the bolt. Almost dropped sleeve inside frame while blindly attempting to slide onto second bolt, missing the bolt as inserted sleeve into hole. Hardest part for me was getting hitch into place to get initial U-bolt connected in center, before doing frame bolts as was suggested by one customer. It was just a matter of my lesser body strength and not complexity. I installed the hitch in slightly over one hour working alone. Did not install wiring harness yet, as my primary reason for the hitch is using it with a motorcycle carrier. Might just be an adjustment of the hitch mounting bolts, but I noticed that the hitch is slightly distorting the plastic bumper cover where the hitch is hitting it on the bottom center at the hitch neck. Not enough to be too worried about and do not want to cut the bumper plastic. 163536

Honda Element, 2011: The hitch, wiring kit and ball mount kit was shipped the same day ordered and arrived UPS in Florida in 3 days . It was well packed. The instructions were clear enough, but making certain the spacer washers were in fact centered over the spacer tubes was a bit fiddly and difficult to verify. Be VERY careful you don't drop one of those tubes into the closed box section frame rail or you'll pay the devil getting it out! If the company were to epoxy those washers onto the tubes, it would make for a fool proof instal. The epoxy would break under torque and correct placement would be assured. I also recommend taking the time to jack the rear up and secure on stands as it will give you additional room you will appreciate when it comes time to swing your torque wrench. Still, working slowly and carefully, the install was done in 45 min. Fit was very good. No interference. The light kit was very simple, though the forward plug is easy to see but difficult to access. It was still done in 15 minutes. My local hitch installer wanted $480 to instal a hitch and light kit, no ball mount. My whole job was done in an hour. About what it would take to dive to local dealer and back. I have two different ball mounts with different heights and two different size balls and still saved $200! And it looks factory and works perfectly. 50774

I just received my hitch yesterday. The customer service was very professional and pleasant to work with was able to answer any questions I had. Delivery was prompt and on time as promised, big thumbs up! First thing I noticed was how the product had protruded through the bottom of box sticking out. Couple of holes allowing the product to scrape on the ground. Lifting the box, I could feel how the product wasn't very secured was able to rattle it back and forth. I opened the box up and seen how it was supported. There were two pieces of cardboard that were not very sturdy at least not enough to support the product from falling back and forth. Removed the hitch and did an overview look at it. First impression was fairly good. I like how it's constructed looks very professionally assembled welded nicely. The nut and bolt bag was taped to the hitch. I removed and opened it up inspected all the hardware. Everything seem to be there. The nuts and bolts are heavy duty, I would say appropriate size for what they are used for. Looked at the instructions which seem to be very clear. I had plans on installing the hitch this weekend. Let you know how that goes. So far giving it a “B” rating – very poor packaging. If this was a fragile product I would have expected it to be damaged. 187031

This hitch didn't fit my Honda Element as well as the Class I hitch it replaced (same brand); it was about 1/4" too narrow. A trip to the local hardware store for some more washers solved the problem however. The instructions and illustrations are very good, I probably spent a couple of hours getting everything to fit just right, but now I have a much stronger hitch and I'm ready to tow my camping trailer. 83847

Comments

Unfortunately I was in a bad accident and totaled my Honda Element?. I replaced it with a 2014 Honda CRV and put a Hidden Hitch in it about 6 months ago. It was a trickier installation than the Element, but the hitch fit very well and is stronger than the OEM hitch, so we have another winner!-Les-

Ordering was easy, instructions were available online so I could see what I was getting into. Price was good, shipping was free. Package was delivered quicker than expected and contents arrived in perfect condition. Install instructions (also provided with the package) were spot-on and a cinch to do (installed just the hitch-no wiring). Total install time from start to finish including putting my tools away was 40 minutes. Would highly recommend etrailer, and would shop here again. As for the hitch, for the Element you basically have two choices. Class 1 with 1 1/4" receiver or Class 3 with a 2" receiver. The 2" receiver is more versatile. You can get adapters for 1 1/4" items, but you can't make a 2" fit in 1 1/4", so I recommend the Class 3. Class 1 also required drilling - no thanks. The Class 3 hitch is worth the extra money. Installs to the frame and all parts needed are provided. Just remember, the Element is not rated for Class 3 towing. Keep it to 1500 lbs and no more that 150 lb tongue weight. My understanding is that you do have to cut the bumper cosmetic trim to get the hitch to fit for Element SC models. Mine's an older EX, so no cutting. 16741

Hardware that came with trailer-hitch was not correct. It had incorrect washers for the in-frame-tube and incorrect nuts for the in-frame-bolts. Contacted ETrailer, which did a good job with customer service. However, in order to get the correct parts, the manufacturer had to send. They sent via FedEx ground, which took another 7 days (over 2 weeks for everything). When the hardware was received, it contained the correct bag of hardware, as well as another bag for an unrelated tow-hitch for a different car (Mercedes). While etrailer is on their game, the manufacturer is not. Other reviews for this product also indicate incorrect hardware being sent. Ordered taillight kit as well, however it does not include any printed instructions and the instructions found at the etrailer website are generic, do not include detailed instructions for the "converter" nor are there instructions for the vehicle I ordered it for. Giving the product 3 stars due to manufacturer inability to correctly package parts, delays in shipping correct parts via ground, and a lack of printed or specific instructions for installing lighting kit in my vehicle. 445059

The hitch arrived fast and safe. I installed it this morning in less than an hour. It fit very well into place. The only trouble was the u bolt didn't quite line up with the holes on the hitch. I was able to spread it with a screw driver and it dropped into place through the holes enough to place the nuts on the treads and tighten them. Other than that, it was an easy install with just some ordinary hand tools. We used some duct tape to hold the spacer washers in place like some others advised which worked out great. Highly recommended product. 276955

As others have commented, the product descriptions and installation instructions provided by etrailer.com were excellent. Order Class III - 2" for a 2008 Honda Element SC. The hitch was promptly delivered in three days. As guided by your site, and a very prompt follow-up to my email questions by customer service representative Leah S., I was able to develop an plan to trim the bumper/fascia prior to installation. Used a "31 tooth per inch" jig saw blade to trim the required cut out. See trim planning pic and installation pic. Thanks for all your assistance...and great product. Installation was a breeze (after watch several of the you-tube instructional videos)! 191995

This product arrived exactly as described. It was super easy to install. I'm sure someone may have mentioned this before but one word of advice, loosely attach all hardware before tightening any. The wiring would have been easy except that I started on the driver's side for my '04 Honda Element when in fact the connector was on the passenger side, but that was my fault (Doh!) If it had not been for that, I would have had the whole thing done in under a half hour. I have used it since and am very pleased. 150807

Hi! Thank you for a fantastic experience with etrailer.com. The equipment arrived on time in excellent condition and I was able to install it in 50 minutes. This included the time to unbox and read the instructions. I inserted the bolts and sleeves as recommended, lifted the tow bar into position and slid the 2 rear-most bolts in. My biggest challenge with this install was that the two forward bolts were about 1/4" to low to go in the holes. So I placed my floorjack at the center of the tow bar and raised the vehicle off the previously placed jackstands about 1/2". This forced the tow bar into alignment and I was able to slide the bolts into place. I then lowered the vehicle back onto the jackstands and finished the install. Thanks to your website and the comments of other installers, I was forwarned that the ubolt wold not line up with the holes, so I used a small sledge and an anvil to open it slightly so it would fit properly. Thanks for providing a very satisfactory product that I'm proud to show off! 349974

It fit the car well and was simple to install. I didn't have to modify anything except for the small "u" bolt that fastens the center of the hitch to the bottom of the unibody. It did not fit into the hitch's two holes. I had to spread the The "u" bolt slightly. I did this by putting the nuts on the "u" bolt and tapping a big chisel down the middle. Check for this before you put the hitch on. 148741

Very durable hitch. The hitch has been used for a bike rack that is used frequently. None of the bolts have loosened over time.

I'm so glad I ordered this hitch. I had played with the idea of having the local Honda dealership add a hitch, but it was looking like it would be in the $500 range with labor! After googling to see what hitches alone cost I found the etrailer site. I read some reviews by people and decided I'd give it a shot. I'm so glad I did! The hitch arrived earlier than expected, and installing it was actually as straight forward as people had said. I've already spoken with a co-worker and he will probably be doing the same. The one little trick I thought of in the process was that you need to have a washer sit on top of a sleeve. Duct taping the washer to the bottom of the frame in the correct position will make your life so much easier. The other thing was that the U bolt didn't fall straight into place like the side bolts. However, as it was tightened up it went just fine. I have and would continue to recommend etrailer to anyone who needs a hitch. 49414

My experience with e-trailer was one of those times when you think this is going too easy and there has to be a catch. There wasn't. Living in Alaska it's sometimes hard to get parts. After checking with local suppliers I found the receiver I needed for my Honda Element had to be ordered and would take two weeks. We needed it in a week. I was able to find the exact part I needed on e-trailer at a very competitive price and it arrived in 3 days. The representative I talked with was great. He doubled checked that the receiver I was ordering was the right one, checked availability and reassured me it would go out the next morning. When it arrived we had it installed in less than hour. Crisis averted with out a hitch. No pun intended. 267159

Ordered Draw-Tite hitch with wiring harness and ball mount kit. Placed order 2-6-17,shipped 2-7-17 and arrived 2-9-17 with standard shipping. Arrived with no damage as it was packed nicely in heavy cardboard box with accessories fastened securely. Started with wiring harness, the instructions were very good, explained every step in detail. Two extra fuses and instructions were put in a ziplock bag and put in the glovebox which I'm sure I will forget. Everything worked as soon as I replaced the fuses as stated in the instructions. For the hitch I was working alone so I decided to install the two bolts towards the front of the vehicle first. Taped the large washers to the frame and placed bolts and spacers in frame. This let me put the rear mounting points of hitch in place and then repeat these steps for the front mounting points. Very happy with everything. 343601

Perfect Fit - Easy Install Easy to install - you will need deep sockets - bolts are a little too long. Not quite enough room for a deep socket on the rear bolt - so had to get a little creative. Took about 15 minutes to install. The spacer tubes are a great idea for this application - very similar to the OEM mounting setup. Shipped via UPS and arrived loose - floating around inside a giant box - I think it was supposed to be suppoted by some corrugated stapled in the center - but it had long since disintegrated - several holes worn in the the box from the mounting flanges. Powder coat had worn off the faces of the mounting bracktes - but no structural issues. I just repainted it with a primer so there was no raw steel. I'm a packaging engineer - so dissapointing to see it shipped in a package design that was not up to the job. 3021

I have not opened the box to inspect my purchase yet I have to say that everything about this purchase [thus far] has been a dream. When I logged into the web site it was so easy to determine which hitch I needed. There is even a video showing how to install the hitch. Right now, there is a smaller hitch on the car and the attachment points look spot on. All of which to say, I am confident that I have the right item. If this works out I will save hundreds over what a local shop would charge me for the job. Honestly, $50 to remove the old hitch and $50 to install the new one that they have already marked up! I am all about supporting local business - but to that extent. Oh ya, I placed the order on-line and it shipped a couple of hours later - for free. How can you beat etrailer? Good job people:) 337127

Simple and easy install. It took longer to get my tools together then to install the hitch. Well made and everything lined up perfectly. I would purchase this brand again. Installed on my 2003 Honda Element EX AWD. 448614

Easy, one person install took about 30 min. Hardest part was only chasing the nuts when they rolled down my driveway when I dropped them. Saved about $180 doing it myself vs the trailer rental place! 408060

Installed quickly and easily on my wife's 2010 Honda Element EX. It took me longer to gather my tools than to put this hitch on taking one half hour from start to finish. Directions we clear and easy to follow. Here's a tip: hook up the center "U" bolt first, finger tighten the nuts. This will hold the hitch in place while hooking up the outside bolts and washers. Also, do not tighten it down all the way until all bolts, spacers, washers are in place and finger tightened. Once all the parts are in place, start tightening it down. I did this project by myself with no problems. Hitch looks great and all you can see from the rear is the hitch opening. Will be using this hitch to pull a very small trailer, a small popup, and a hitch style bike rack. I hope you find this review helpful! Good luck. 21186

Installation was easy. I recommend using masking tape to hold the 3/4 washer in place. An extra set of hands is important for bringing the hitch into place. I recommend a torque wrench because the 75 ft lbs of torque for the 1/2 in nuts was a lot more than I would have thought. Finally, the hitch compressed the fender so I opted to cut it. I set the hitch, traced it against the fender with a grease pen, removed it, cut out a piece using a jig saw and finally set the hitch again. I'm really pleased with the result I got. It would have more difficult without the right tools and help. 312620

The hitch looks great-the Hopkins wiring harness came with NO instructions--and the instructions on the site are not at all helpful, no instructions-when we contacted the Hopkins company, they told us to use their competitors instructions! They sent a link that did not work. And so we went to their competitors site (Curt) and were able to print a few pics of how to install-and they still weren't great. We happened to find a youtube video of a guy installing the wiring harness to be able to see how difficult it was. (not a ten minute installation as it says, more like a day) None of this is etrailer's fault however, but I would think they might want to just carry the Curt lighting harness instead of the Hopkins. 418125

I Received the package in fast time. The instillation went well. I had read some reviews before the purchase and several had said to tape the large washers to the frame to hold in place and to hook the U bolt first then raise the hitch into position. I found these to be true and helped in the instillation. the Honda adapter harness worked great also. Spent some time running the additional hook up wiring for the trailer but all in all a quality instillation. This was my second hitch ordered for our Honda Elements and when ready for a brake system for our Little Guy Travel trailer, will go back to etrailer. The service and quality provided a positive experience. 71202

Hitch fit my 2010 Honda Element perfectly. Shipping was quick, all hardware was included. Like others who purchased this hitch, I found the hitch fairly easy to install. I was lucky to have another pair of hands helping me. Directions were clear - even including settings for a torque wrench which helped a lot with my confidence that I installed the hitch securely. Coupled with the easy install of 118465 - wiring for the Element, it was perfect. Save a chuck of money by installing it yourself. eTrailer offers the entire package - right parts, great price, free shipping and videos / pictures to help you do the install. You can't ask for more than that! Nice job eTrailer. 18514

Great experience with etrailer. Hitch arrived on scheduled within 3 days of ordering. Extremely easy to install, found the instruction diagram straight forward. Took about 15 min. Recommend that you have 2 jackstands available to sit the hitch up on when installing, this way you don't have to try and lift it into place while inserting the bolts and you don't need that second set of hands. Two sockets and a torque wrench is all it took. Hardest part was just trying to get up behind dash to plug in the wiring and that took all of 10 min. Price...can't beat it. Dealer wanted twice the amount. Next vehicle, I'll be coming right back here to etrailer! 28329

Super service, they upgraded my shipping at no extra cost. Ordered on a Sunday night and the hitch showed up in Wednesday afternoon. This was a snap to install, done in less than 30 minutes! Everything you need is right in the kit. Here's a hint for installation that makes it even easier. Start by hanging the hitch on the trunk pan tie-down hook with the nuts tightened just enough to hold it up. With the hitch hung on the hook, it will easily swing into place so that you can install the slides and bolts on each side. With all the parts in place, tighten down each side and then snug the tie-down hook. That's it, all done. Couldn't be easier. 32541

This installation is about as easy as it gets. There's no drilling required and eTrailer gives you all the hardware and easy to follow instructions. Remember to leave everything loose until all the bolts are in place or you'll make it harder on yourself. Keeping the spacer washers aligned with the sleeves is a little tricky, but a small flat-blade screwdriver quickly lines them up again if they slip off. Overall, a great product! 56425

First let me thank the folks at Etrailer.com for great service and communication!! I just got my Hitch this evening, and after getting the three wrenches needed from my shop, 19mm and 17 mm, I slid under the truck and had this thing on in 15 minutes. After hearing from a neighbor how much of a pain this would be, I was pleasantly surprised that things slid right into place as I had hoped. The Fit is perfect, and this is a well put together heavy duty piece. The directions were easy to read and follow, and Shipping was supper fast, and the tracking insured me of it's progress. I couldn't be happier!! 52430

First off, I was very impressed on how quickly the hitch receiver, ball mount kit and wiring harness arrived. I got it in 2 days with regular shipping. There was a nick in the hitch receiver as if it was dropped at some point, but it was small and I figured it's going to get scratched over the years anyway, so no big deal. The instructions for the hitch receiver were perfect. Had it on in less than an hour. Took about 10 minutes to get the wiring harness connected (again easy instructions). Overall, I was very satisfied with the company and the product. 44649

Am not quite sure how to rate the product as I was unable to install the hitch as one of the 4 tube spacers was the wrong size (all 4 spacer are supposed to be the same size). Really disappointed as I puchased this for my daughter's Honda Element and was all ready to install it for her. I called etrailer support and was told that they would contact the manufacturer and that the manufacturer of the hitch would have to resolve this. We will see how soon they respond and send the correct spacer to me. I was also a little disappointed with etraileter's response. 388751

Fairly easy install on our 2009 Honda Element EX. Loosely bolted up drivers side, and when i went to do the passenger side, it looked like it was not going to fit. Unbolted the drivers side and then started on passenger side instead. Then the drivers side went in. Used a set of ramps to raise rear of vehicle and that helped greatly. I also used some ratchet straps to raise the hitch close to the mounting position, as i was working alone, so that made the install easier (freed up my hands from having to hold hitch, so I could use both to bolt up). 211292

Nice hitch. Instructions were simple and clear. Installation on my 2007 Element EX was fairly easy, although it does take some patience to get the large washers to sit correctly over the sleeves when you're tightening the nuts. Also, as you are trial fitting the bolts and hitch, be very careful to not pull the bolts out from the holes in the frame rails without removing the sleeves first! I absentmindedly did that and one of the sleeves fell inside the frame rail. I was able to retrieve it, but it sure wasn't easy!! 5-stars overall. Thank you! 360449

Fellow Element owners recommended etrailer, and I'm glad they did. I went straight to this model because I wanted an easy install, and I got exactly that. The item arrived in a few shorts days, and it took me under an hour to get it installed with just a few simple tools. The only tool I didn't have was a torque wrench -- I've ordered one so I can be more careful about tightening the bolts. The instructions were very easy to follow. I would definitely recommend etrailer, and I'll make it my source for all things trailer from now on. 138247

There were no hitches in this installation! GET IT!!! Actually, I lost one of the spacers down inside the frame of my Honda Element and had to surgically remove it. Therefore the install time was 2.5 hrs instead of .5 hr. That is no indication of the complexity of the installation...it was just a goof on my part. Excellent product so far. 211820

I ordered a hidden hitch for my 2009 Honda Element from etrailer. The order arrived within five days and everything was in the box. The hitch is idiot proof to install. It took me two hours because I never do anything like this but it was easy to do after I found the proper sockets to fit the nuts. I would recommend this hitch for a Honda Element because anyone can install it including an old person with no mechanical skills like me. The Honda dealership wanted $600 to install a hitch so I saved over $400 by doing it myself. 35616

Ordered this for a 2004 Honda Element AWD Ex. Fit very well and pretty easy to install without having to jack or lift up the vehicle. I modified the directions and slipped the large flat washers that fit between frame and hitch in place after the hitch was supported by the bolts. This way I could lift the hitch myself and support it on the bolts, then slip the washers in place. Should use a torque wrench to tighten all bolts. Correct wrench settings are in the directions. I will use this to haul a trailer with our kayaks. 354979

Great product, great service. The hitch for my Honda Element came very quickly- less than four days. Directions for mounting the hitch were clear and it was relatively easy to attach it; attaching it is best achieved with two people; it could be done with one, but it would be quite awkward. The hitch is on my car, looks great, ('cause you can hardly see it when the ball isn't on), and is already in use. I went with the 3,000 lb. rated hitch even though my Element is only rated to tow up to 1,500 lb.- just seemed prudent. 44213

I am very satisfied with the experience. My order arrived sooner than expected, thank you Eric. Everything was as advertised and installation was simple. Two suggestions to make it even better: Pack the instruction pages better. Mine were somewhat beat-up. The second thing - some kind of template or guide for marking and cutting the facia would help. I used my hitch this past weekend to help my daughter move. Everything worked great. Overall I am extremely happy with etrailer. I would use you again without hesitation. 21400

  • Snow Plow Availability for a 2008 Honda Element
  • We do not have a front mount hitch available for the Honda Element. All is not lost though, the Snow Sport Plow, item # A40000HD, will work on the back of a smaller SUV or pickup. This item requires a 2 inch receiver hitch that has 8 to 16 inches of clearance under the receiver. The plow is manually adjustable, weighs 110 pounds and is 7 feet wide. This should make a great plow for long driveways and small parking areas. We have 2 inch receiver hitches available for your Element (see...

For your SC we carry the Draw-Tite Max-Frame # 75659 which is a Class III hitch and the Curt # C11699 which is a Class I. Between the two I recommend the Draw-Tite because the Class III hitch will give you a much larger variety of bike racks to use than the Class I. Also, with the Curt hitch you'll need to use a support strap # 18050 to be compliant with its warranty when carrying a bike rack.
