Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

The Draw-Tite trailer hitch is made of very strong material with a nice coat of paint. The etrailer how-to-install video uses a Curt brand hitch which is designed differently and easier to install compared to the Draw-Tite but the Curt hitch is all exposed directly below the bumper, except where it's bolted to the frame. With the Draw-Tite, a valance supporting the rear bumper guard on the vehicle needs to be removed to accommodate the hitch, up and behind the bumper. The result is a less visible hitch so it doesn't look like an add-on or after-thought. The plan is to attach a cargo carrier to the hitch so there's no need to install a wiring kit for lights as if we were to pull a trailer.

After having ordered and got the hitch installed, I couldn’t be more satisfied with it. Not only is serving the purpose for what I bought it, but the design and quality of it is good that couple of people have asked me if I got a oem from the car manufacturer. Thanks so much for making these hitches available!

It has been a year since I purchased and got my hitch installed on my Nissan Murano, and I’m so grateful that I have it now. First of all, the hitch looks like it was originally from the car manufacturer. It’s tucked away underneath the rear bumper, and I’ve been able to use my bicycle rack with no issues at all. I’m completely satisfied with the quality and workmanship. The powder coating still shines looking brand new. Thank you for your great product.

Product arrived on time and with all parts. On first inspection it looked a little off and sure enough one of the holes did not quite line up. But the customer service rep explained how to straighten it out and even sent an email with detailed instructions. Once that was done the install went without any other problems. The video was extremely helpful, but I had read some of the other reviews that I did not need to drop the exhaust so I went that route and had no issues. It's just a little tight sliding the hitch around the exhaust. I didn't even need to jack up the rear, though that may have made the install a little easier. An extra pair of hands is a must, to hold one end up while you attach the other end. Would have been nice to know up front that the hitch could flex in transit and what to do about it, but otherwise a great product and it looks great! From unpacking the box to completing the install took about an hour (not counting the call to customer service!) using only a socket wrench and scissors (to cut the zip ties).

Comments
I’ve used the hitch several times now to tow a few different small trailers as well as for a bike rack and tray also purchased through etrailer. All worked as expected. Hitch is showing a small amount of rust where the attachments slide in but this is expected and happened in my previous vehicle - that hitch outlasted the car so very confident in this one!

I have owned this trailer hitch for about a year now, It's done everything I needed it for and exceeds the towing capabilities of the Murano, I also appreciate how discrete it is once installed. Highly recommend it to those wanting to pick up a hitch for their Murano.

by:
2012 Nissan Murano

This is the 2nd hitch I've bought from etrailer. I can't say enough good things about the company, their website and their customer service. Add to that, having the hitch in stock and super quick delivery makes for a great purchasing experience.
If you own a basic set of sockets and have a little mechanical ability this hitch is a breeze to install. The video lets you see what is involved, but, like others, I did not drop the muffler. Access was still pretty good and I didn't have any problems. All the bolt holes lined up, and, even doing it myself with the aid of a couple of jack stands to hold the hitch in place while I got the bolts started, it took me about 35 minutes, start to finish. Once again, I'm a happy camper.
Thanks, etrailer...

Great product fast delivery and it fits...but two of the bolts on the right side were too long had to add a couple of washers but that fixed the problem only using it for my bike quick and simple installation will recommend

2009 Nissan Murano

Bought this for our 09 Murano LE. Bolts were fine my only issue was the car itself after years of not having a bolt in them, they were full of grime and one was beyond being able to clean it out. Quick trip to the parts store and I got one size up in bolts and a tap to match it. To be 100% clear this IS NOT the fault of the hitch just simply my car. Just wanted people to know if you got this route as well.

As for the hitch it went on fine. Etrailer is the only place to shop for stuff like this. Best customer service out there. A+ top notch folks.

Great hitch too. It’s getting used way more than we thought we would already. Concealed nicely as well.

by:
2013 Nissan Murano

Draw-Tite is a good hitch have used them over the years. This hitch did not disappoint me. It did come bent a little but tech support gave me tips on straightening it and I got installed really easy. My tip is buy the brush they recommend for cleaning out the bolts holes if you don't have one. It will make your life easier.

Fit/aligned well. Did not need to elevate the SUV since ground clearance was sufficient for work access. With a bit of effort I was able to maneuver hitch into place without lowering the muffler. I did it alone but would have been much quicker with help.

by:
2009 Nissan Murano

Arrived on-time and undamaged though I was a little surprised that there was no extra protection of front ends of side pieces. Email with link to Installation video arrived an hour after I installed the hitch - this should be sent before actual delivery. The video itself has a glaring omission - where to install the hitch! At 3:55 we see the hitch bar being lifted up near the bumper and then - cut to tightening bolts. I know it sounds obvious and surely is when the vehicle is up on a lift but when installing at ground level with your face inches away it was not immediately obvious that I had to install essentially inside the bumper. I recommend you find that raw footage and put it back in the final video.

2012 Nissan Murano

First of all; I live in Buffalo NY. So I have loads of rust in the grooves where bolts for hitch go into. After seeing etrailer video on how to spray lubricant and scrub the holes with brush. I was shocked how much rust came out and how easy it was to get bolts fully tightened. The etrailer video on how to install hitch is flawless. All this took me an hour on the 2012 Nissan Murano. I did drop the muffler. My wiring project is next week. Im very pleased this was a simple process i work 60hrs a week and was not looking forward to this project. Etrailer gets 5

by:
2010 Nissan Murano

Had planned to get the trailer hitch installed by local shop, but after watching the installation video I decided to do it myself. Easy bolt-on , ....just have to be patient with lowering the exhaust and priming the bolt holes since mine were rusted and bolts just would not go in. After soaking them with penetrating spray and cleaning them out, the bolts went right in.
The installation video was a great help. Product is of high quality.

2012 Nissan Murano

I'm a repeat customer because my first experience was stellar. Unfortunately, the 2nd time, not so much. The hitch came welded off kilter, so it didn't fit properly. When I called to work out a resolution, the call dropped to busy signal after waiting 5 minutes.....three times. I emailed to complain since they don't man the phones well and have had no response.
After receiving the hitch, I realized I needed a wiring harness I forgot. They took my order/money and shipped it, but I have yet to receive any response to my defective hitch.
Sell, sell, sell, screw the rest!

2014 Nissan Murano

I have a 2014 Nissan Murano and I got the draw tite trailer hitch, looks great. It’s just what I wanted, you can only see just the part where you insert what ever you are using it for. My purpose was a bike rack. The curt one will show under your car, and I didn’t like that.. it was shipped quickly and no damage.

by:
2014 Nissan Murano

Everything from ordering, to advice about the look of the hitches on my vehicle to the excellent videos showing how to install were first rate. The only hiccup I had was when I went to install the hitch one of the arms where you put the bolts through was bent and wouldn’t work. I called and spoke with Caroline and she was very helpful in emailing ways to straighten the bent arm. I used a scissor jack and 2x4 to straighten it out. After that everything worked fine. I would recommend etrailer to anyone. They’re a first rate company to deal with.

2009 Nissan Murano

Product was great with the exception that the 3 big screws were too big. I’ve read a review where the guy had the same issue Where he had to rethread the holes. I had no luck getting the screws to fit. I brought it to a friend is a master mechanic. He ran into the same issue. Lucky for me he was able to get screws that fit like a glove. The trailer hitch was sweet and shipment was fast. Loved the video and photos. If the screws where right I would give them five stars. Because it was a pain to try to use the screws provided. But when it was finally on it looked great. Overall very happy. Note no need for ties in my case.

by:

Installed a trailer hitch on my 2014 Nissan Mirano. Product was as advertised, one problem the holes in the hitch bracket on the drivers side did not line up with the holes on the Mirano, looks like parts weren’t set square when made, was able to get them where they were supposed to go, and did get them bolted up correctly. NOTE for people installing this hitch on this year and model car the exhaust on the car did not rotate down like your [installation] video showed, ended up removing the muffler, wasn’t a big issue but still not what was shone on the video.
