Seamless Installation: Bolt-On Design

Forget complicated setups and welding hassles! This Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver is designed for a straightforward bolt-on installation. The custom fit ensures it's a perfect match for your vehicle, with a complete hardware kit and step-by-step installation instructions included. Just grab your tools, and you'll have it securely mounted in no time.

Sturdy and Durable Build: Powder Coated Steel

If you're worried about your hitch battling the elements, rest easy knowing it's made from powder-coated steel. This sturdy construction is not only durable but offers superior rust resistance, ensuring your hitch remains corrosion-free and looking sharp whether you're towing through rain, snow, or sunshine.

Impressive Towing Power: Class III Capacity

Ready to haul with confidence? This hitch boasts a Class III rating with a standard 2-inch receiver opening. It can handle a maximum gross trailer weight of 4,000 lbs and 400 lbs of tongue weight. When used with a weight distribution system, these figures jump to 6,000 lbs and 600 lbs, respectively, perfect for heavier loads and ensuring your vehicle performs optimally under tow.

Perfect Fit Across Models: Versatile Compatibility

Tailoring to various vehicle models isn't an issue with this hitch. It's compatible with models from the years 1985-1994 and 1998, like the Chevy Astro, ensuring a hassle-free fit across standard and cargo bodies. Be mindful about relocations if you have an oversized spare tire, but otherwise, this hitch is a versatile match for various configurations.

Superior Rust Resistance: Gloss Black Powder Coat

Built for longevity, the gloss black powder coat finish sits atop a protective base coat, offering a double layer of rust resistance. This means not only does your hitch stay strong over time, but it also maintains a sleek appearance that complements your vehicle's aesthetics through countless road adventures.

I've had this on for a year now. Fit like a glove. If I remember correctly, I think it only took less than an hour to install. Still looks new.

by:

Exactly what I expected

by:

The product itself seems well built. Installation what not particularly straightforward in my case for two reasons:

1) This only applies to my van-- The original hitch receiver which I was replacing had integrated bumper mounts, so if I were to just install this receiver, my bumper would have only been mounted to the vehicle by two flimsy sheet metal mounts on the very outside edge. This meant I had to source bumper mounts as well, which was a pain and an additional cost. Your situation may be different, but check to make sure you have separate bumper mounts before assuming this will just bolt on without any other parts.

2) The fit was pretty finicky. This is largely because the way this is meant to bolt on, it ends up spacing the stock bumper mounts off the frame by the thickness of this hitch receiver's mounts. This in turn ends up misaligning the bumper mounts where they meet the bumper. It's possible to get all the bolts aligned and seated, but you need to leave everything pretty loose as you're installing it and only start to tighten it down once all bolts and nuts are in place. This leads me to believe that something is getting bent during the tightening/torquing process.

Very happy with my new hitch!! Shipping wasn't too long and it was easy to install.

by:
2018 Chevrolet Astro

Nice hitch ,best price around esp. with free shipping which I might add was only a couple days. Installed on `02 Astro, was simple to install, no drilling ,took maybe 90min at most and the 18 inch rim doughnut spare didn`t have to be messed with.

by:

Installation is not easy at all. When you unbolt the bumper brackets and put The hitch brackets on with the bumper brackets under it the bumper brackets will not bolt back to the bumper without drilling out the holes bigger. Not happy with this product at all. Took over 2 hours to install a hitch that says no drilling required. Would not buy this again.

by:

Product looks like it will perform adequately for my intended uses. Installation was a 2.5 hour ordeal, however. The installation instructions were barely adequate. The parts list did not contain all of the nut/bolt head sizes, which would make it easy to find what size socket or wrench to use. The mounting brackets for the hitch receiver did not fit onto their appropriate locations without modifying the factory bumper flanges with an angle grinder, a forty minute job I was not expecting to encounter. The existing weldnuts that the mounting brackets were supposed to bolt to were not useable, so I had to drill two new holes in the mounting brackets and use the hardware for earlier models of my vehicle to gain the final two bolt points. The installation took at least three times longer that it would have if everything had actually lined up.

by:

Fast shipping, and looks great

by:

Easy install about an hour

by:
2004 Chevrolet Astro

The product is great! it shipped faster than I thought possible, installation was a breeze, minus the difficulty of a rusty old van. I even made a mistake with my email and customer service was great and accommodated quickly.

by:

The hitch has been excellent on my 94 Astro, even though I do not use it daily I expect it to last a very long time. Install was not bad and has pulled everything just fine so far.

2012 Subaru Forester

I believe this is the fourth hitch I have ordered from etrailer.com. All have been very well engineered and carefully produced to fit the vehicles I ordered them for. The first was our 2004 Subaru Forester and I learned a lot from that installation. The install videos were great. The next was for my 2007 Dodge crew cab 4X4 and it was a little easier because of the higher ground clearance. I installed another on our 2012 Forester after we traded and it went in very quickly. The last was about a year ago when I installed a hitch on my '94 Chevy Van project vehicle. I'm currently 72 years old and if I can do these installs I think anyone can. I always order the recommended wiring kit for each vehicle and they have always worked perfectly.

2000 Chevrolet Astro

I ordered a class III hitch for my 2000 chevy astro and it was supposed to be delivered on Friday. This one never got delivered and the tracking updates stopped. Called UPS and they said the package was misplaced or lost. Called E-trailer on Tuesday, Monday was a Holiday and they verified that the package was lost. Etrailer shipped out another or replacement and it got to me Saturday. Installed it myself on the van following their instructiona and the video. Took me a couple of hours, but everything worked the way it should. I would do business with this company again.

by:
2002 Chevrolet Astro

Well built ,easy to install fast shipping for a good price I would recommend this to anyone who wants a durable quality American made hitch. Used it for a year now and holding up like new and the paint coating resists rust and salt from Wisconsin winters.

by:

The hitch wasn’t packaged very well and busted through the box, and the hardware was just loose in the box so it all fell out during delivery.

Gosh, I am so sorry to hear that. Let me get some replacements in the mail for you. Be on the lookout for an email!

by:

I found this site extremely useful looking for an older model application which most companies didn't even stock. they did in not only this rating but many of the other popular applications (I chose 600lb tongue weight)

Hitch arrived fast (I was surprised to see it sitting on days) my front porch within days and when unpacked it was in perfect shape, all the hardware inclosed and not even a scratch on it. It is still a little cold out for me to install it so I'll update with pictures in a few weeks.

Thanks George, now I can get my sailboat out of storage and bring it home for prep to launch this spring.

Great hitch! Easy to install. The 3 piece construction makes it no problem for a 1 chicken install. Minor damage to the box in shipping but the hitch was spotless. Hardware also packed well so it did not come loose in shipping.

by:

Perfect fit and easy install that included all the needed hardware!
Very knowledgeable and Great customer service, Thank You Ashley!

by:

Trailer hitch has been performing as prescribed so far. Instructions were somewhat confusing for installation. I'd have to see how often the bolts have to be tighten to determine the real quality of the product.

by:
Ford Edge

Everything was OK. I did have to make a slight modification to two bolts, grind the edge to make the alignment in the bottom corner to clear the rounded edge of the frame of the shasis.

by:

Very impressed! Great quality, easy to attach, looks great! Everyone so impressed on the cost! Fast delivery with great customer service! Very knowledgeable when it came to ordering what I needed! Will recommend highly!!! I plan on doing a lot of camping now that I have my hitch!

by:
1991 Chevrolet Astro

This hitch was just hat I needed. It has three separate parts each installed individually. Being 74 years old the thought of lifting a one piece hitch laying on my back in the grass was not an agreeable prospect. It went together without a problem. This company delivered it very quickly professionally packaged.

  • Trailer Hitch Fit on 2004 Chevrolet Astro Van with Full-Size Spare Tire
The Curt Class III hitch # C13035 will very likely have interference with a full-size spare, but we do offer both 1-1/4-inch Class II and other 2-inch Class III hitches that do not have this fit issue. The included link will show you three choices in a 1-1/4-inch Class II hitch. If you prefer a 2-inch Class III that does NOT cause spare tire interference you can use Draw-Tite # 75122. An install video on an Astro van is linked for reference.

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2000 Chevrolet Astro Van with a Standard Wheel Base
We have several trailer hitches that are considered a fit for your 2000 Chevrolet Astro Van. For this vehicle I would recommend a Class III trailer hitch to allow for greater diversity for hitch mounted accessories. The Curt # C13035 that you referenced is a great option, and is more economical for the Class III options. This hitch is rated for towing up to 4000 pounds and up to 400 pounds of tongue weight. Please note that if you have a full size spare tire this may interfere with the...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and Ball Mount for 2002 Chevrolet Astro
For your 2002 Chevrolet Astro I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13035. This custom fit Class III hitch has a 2" receiver and a bolt-on installation. It features a concealed cross tube so only the receiver will be visible from the rear. This hitch has a maximum gross trailer weight of 4,000 lbs and tongue weight of 400 lbs which is slightly higher when compared to the Draw-Tite # 75122. Since you are looking for a ball mount, I will assume you plan on towing and also need wiring....

  • Everything Needed to Tow a Trailer with Brakes with a 1999 Chevy Astro Van
I was able to (miraculously) find an online version of the owner's manual for your 1999 Chevrolet Astro and found on page 4-32 that the max trailer weight you can tow is between 4,500 lbs and 5,500 lbs depending on your axle ratio and if you have a 2WD or AWD version. I recommend checking out your copy of the owner's manual to verify this. In your research you basically already discovered the difference between the Draw-Tite # 75122 and the Curt # C13035. the Draw-Tite has a lighter weight...

  • Will Draw-Tite 75122 Fit Standard Body 1990 Chevy Astro Van
The Draw-Tite # 75122 only fits the extended body. Two out of the three hitches made for your Astro actually fit the standard body so I'm not sure what you mean. You can use the etrailer # e69KR or the Curt # C13035. Both of these are Class III hitches with the only real difference being the finish. If you want the matte black finish choose the etrailer and if you prefer the glossy finish get the Curt. If you plan on towing you will need the Tekonsha # 18252 for wiring. This will provide...

  • Parts Needed to Tow 5,000 lbs with a 2001 Chevy Astro Van
If you use a weight distribution system with your 2001 Chevy Astro Van we have products that would tow 5,000 lbs with it. First for a hitch you would need the part # C13035. The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out...

According to Curt, their # C13035 Class III hitch fits all models of the 1999 Chevy Astro, be it a passenger or a cargo van. If your van has a 16 inch spare tire, you might need to relocate the spare. The Draw-Tite Class III, part # 75122 is compatible with a 16 inch spare, so you might want to go that route instead. Assuming your Astro uses the stock tire size, you'll need a # 2753 ball mount, a # PC3 hitch pin and a # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch hitch ball. For a trailer...

So a Class IV will be stronger than a Class III which will be stronger than a Class II. I attached an FAQ page on hitch classifications for you to check out also. I'd recommend going with a Class III hitch like the Curt # C13035. A Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver will allow both a higher capacity than a Class II like the # 90231, but will also have a much better selection of hitch mounted accessories available, such a cargo carrying trays or bike racks. A Class III is usually not any more expensive than a Class II, so there's really no reason not to go with the alternative that would allow you more options and flexibility. As you can see...
