Looking for Trailer Hitch for 1999 Chevy Astro That Doesnt Extend Past Bumper

Question:

I have a 1999 Chevy Astro Cargo Van. Im looking for a pic or specs that show a side-view of the hitch. I had a Draw- Tite on my 88 Astro and the receiver stuck out from the bumper by about 3/4....my shins got all bruised and I finally became so frustrated that I removed the Hitch and gave it away on Craigslist. Taking this into consideration, do you know which hitch might be best for my van to avoid this phenomenon?

I'd recommend going with a Class III hitch like the Curt # C13035. A Class III hitch with a 2 inch receiver will allow both a higher capacity than a Class II like the # 90231, but will also have a much better selection of hitch mounted accessories available, such a cargo carrying trays or bike racks. A Class III is usually not any more expensive than a Class II, so there's really no reason not to go with the alternative that would allow you more options and flexibility.

As you can see from the provided photo, the receiver tube does not extend past the face of the bumper, so your shins will be perfectly safe.

If you'll be towing with the hitch, you'll need a few additional accessories. For trailer wiring, use # C55411, # 2753 for a ball mount and for a trailer ball, use # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball. For a hitch pin, use # PC3.

You can see an installation video by using the provided link.
