How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the adjustable ball mount from Blue Ox. Adding an adjustable ball mount to your towing setup is gonna solve the issue if you carry a few different types of trailers with different coupler heights. This is gonna allow you to, on the fly, make adjustments for your height, or also go up in weight capacity if you're pulling something that's a little bit heavier all the way up to 14,000 pounds, or on our two-inch ball, down to 10,000 pounds. Let's take a closer look at our assembly here. We're gonna start with our shank. Notice the holes that are along the side that are in one-inch increments that are gonna allow you to make the adjustments to your tow ball.

Your tow ball itself is a zinc-plated material that's gonna help hold up against corrosion in the real-world environment. I have the two-inch ball flipped up right now and that's rated for 10,000 pounds. Underneath, we have our 2 5/16 that's rated for 14,000 pounds. And overall, our tongue weight is right at 1,400 pounds. Another cool feature with the shank itself, it is a powder-coated finish that's gonna hold up against the elements and keep that steel in service for a very long time.

You're gonna receive two zinc-plated clips, pins, and clips that are gonna hold your ball in place. We're just gonna show you the process of flipping it over. You're gonna remove your pins and you can just flip over your unit. Back here, there is a included anti-rattle device, so like a rubber bushing or pad that's gonna help stabilize your load when you're going down the road and absorb some of that shock. So I'm gonna just find a spot here and align our ball mount and then reinsert our pins.

Grabbing my tape measure here and we're gonna take a look at some of the measurements of how it adds onto the back of our vehicle. Going from on center from the pin hole on our receiver, we're at about 4.5 inches to these dusted plates on the back of our shank. Going to the front, you're right at 9.5, and on center to your ball, you're right at 1' 12". We're gonna remove our pin and clip here. I'm gonna lift up from the bottom a little bit to get the pressure off of my pin and wiggle it out.

And now, we're gonna grab our entire assembly and just invert it, throw it back in our receiver. And as you can see with your rise, it does get you a lot further off the ground, a lot more clearance underneath, but your distance from the center pinhole, or all those measurements are gonna stay the same because it's in the same location. The Blue Ox adjustable ball mount includes the pins you're gonna need for your dual ball as well as a pin and clip for your receiver. In my time, talking to our neighbors here at etrailer.com, more times than with failures with ball mounts, most cases people encounter theft or they tend to grow legs and walk away. So even though you have an included pin and clip, it would be a great idea to add an additional pin lock for your receiver to keep everything secure. Another thing to keep in mind, even though our max weight rating is at 14,000 pounds, you're gonna be limited by the lowest rated item in your towing setup. So just keep that in mind that if you have something that's rated for 5,000 pounds, even though it's just rated up to 14, 5,000 pounds is gonna be your max.
