Video Transcript for Comprehensive Review: Bulldog Winch Bow Shackle

Today we're going to be taking a look at the bull dog wench shackle, this is going to provide a strong secure connection point for wenching and towing set ups. It's great for connecting recovery straps, toe straps and tree straps. It's going to feature a safe working load limit of 17,000 pounds. The units design secure quickly and easily with the screw pin design. You can easily twist the pin in and out by hand. Now if for some reason it becomes too tight, it does have a small hole located right here on the tab.

Where you could insert something to gain some leverage and loosen up the pin. So with that removed you can place this on your draw bar or your mount. Or whatever your application is you can place your straps in there. And it's just a very easy to use design. The units made from a steal construction.

It has a silver zinc platted finish which is going to help resist rust and corrosion. Making sure is lasts a long time. The shackle diameter is going to measure one inch. The screw pin diameter, diameter of this portion right here is going to be about on and one eighth of an inch. The opening from this point here to this point here, that's going to give us a measurement pretty close to one and three quarter inches. Taking a look at the internal measurements just measuring the opening sides here, here at the widest point that's going to give us a measurement, looks to be about two and five eighths of an inch.

And then if we reinstall the screw pin, we'll take a measurement from the top of the screw pin to the bottom portion there, at the top of the shackle. So that measurement is going to measure about three and three quarter inches. Again it's going to have a safe working load limit of 17,000 pounds, and that's going to do it for today's look at the bull dog wrench shackle.

See what our Experts say about this Bulldog Winch Tow Shackles

  • Recommended Vehicle Recovery Strap And Receiver-Mounted Shackle
The ring on the Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye # TR63045 is approximately 1" thick. The Bulldog Winch 3/4" Bow Shackle # BDW20020 has an opening of about 1-1/4". This will work, but it will be a tight fit. I recommend going with the Bulldog Winch Bow Shackle # BDW20117. This has an opening of 1-3/4" which will be plenty to fit the Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Forged Tow Eye # TR63045. You can then use tow strap such as Erickson Recovery Strap # EM59600.
