If you haul bikes, kayaks, or ladders, this cover makes it easy to bring them along without giving up bed space. The RetraxPRO XR has accessory T-slots built right into the side rails, so you can mount T-slot-compatible racks from Thule, Yakima, or Rhino Rack (sold separately) directly above the bed. You still get full use of the retractable cover underneath, which slides open smoothly without interfering with your rack system.

When you close this cover, your cargo stays secure and out of sight. The 1" thick aluminum slats are impact and weather resistant, and the locking handle lets you secure the cover at any point along the rails. Close and lock it with your tailgate and you’ve got a tough barrier against theft and weather. The foam seals and weather stripping around the edges keep out water, dust, and snow, while the cover overlapping the tailgate helps block leaks at the back.

Opening and closing this cover doesn’t take effort or extra parts. It glides along the rails on sealed ball-bearing rollers that never need lubrication. There are no hinges, joints, or springs to jam or freeze, and the cover rolls up neatly into a canister at the front of the bed. Inside that canister, a spiral track keeps the cover from rubbing against itself, preventing wear and keeping it rolling like new.

The RetraxPRO XR is built from heavy-duty 1" thick aluminum that can handle up to 500 lbs of evenly distributed weight on top. The matte black finish resists scratches, fading, and weather damage, keeping it looking clean year after year. The low-profile rails sit just 1" above the bed for a streamlined appearance that complements the truck’s shape.

Getting it on the truck is straightforward. The rails clamp onto the bed—no drilling needed—and the canister holds the preinstalled cover so setup goes fast. Two included drain tubes route any water from the canister through existing bed holes, keeping everything dry inside. Once installed, there’s nothing to oil or adjust, so you can just use it and forget about it.

Thanks for taking the time for such a detailed review RAMDaddy! I would say you definitely got your moneys worth on your last one with the 10 years of use! And valid points on the new cover, it does stink that the canister takes up so much room, but it is still a really nice cover. I hope you get 10 years plus out of this new one =)

Had this on my truck for over a year, outside in the elements every day and it still looks brand new. The finish is tough and durable. It rolls open and closed with ease and the locking mechanism is free and smooth. Couldnt be happier with it.
