I am going to be on ICY roads without snow tires. I have a crew cab GMC HD truck. What would you recommend for safety and ease of installation for my truck?

The Konig Self Tensioning Snow Tire Chains, part # TH02230K77 aren't inexpensive, but they offer very easy and quick installation, outstanding performance and a 5 year warranty, versus the 30, 45 or 90 day warranties offered by other manufacturers.
To install, the chains are positioned over the tire and step on built-in pedal to activate center tensioning element.
Before purchasing or installing tire chains, read your owners manual and be sure to abide by any advice or prohibitions mentioned about the use of tire chains. I'll link you to some articles about tire chains that I hope you'll find helpful.
