Installation

Installation Step 1

1. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

Class "S" Designation

SAE Class "S" tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans and small trucks, especially those with large, aftermarket tires, may require Class "S" chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Recommended Tire Chains for a 2017 Jeep Wrangler with 225/75-R17 Tires
According to the owner's manual for your 2017 Jeep Wrangler, tire chains can only be installed on the rear two wheels and must be Class S compliant. You will want to review page 420 in your owner's manual for further specifications while using tire chains. The Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains part # TC2526 and the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains part # TC2828CAM are both good traction devices. However, neither are Class S compliant. Therefore, for the icy North Carolina mountains you will...

  • Recommended Tire Chains For A 2020 Ram 1500 With An LT275/70R18 Tire Size
The only option we currently have confirmed to fit a LT275/70R18 is the Konig K-Summit Tire Chains # KON24FR. This chain set is Class S compatible and mounts to one of the lug nuts on the wheel for a quick and easy installation. The Titan Chain # TC2326 unfortunately would not be a compatible fit for your Ram's tire size.

  • Best Tire Chains for Plow Truck with 265/70R17 Tires for Use on Steep Asphalt Driveway
I'll start off with what I recommend, but there's a lot of good information below as to why these are going to be the best chains for you. I really prefer the # TC2828CAM because of the V-bar ice breakers, but because asphalt will become more brittle the colder it gets, it makes me lean towards the # TC2326 as the best solution for your plow truck on this particular driveway setup. You could go with a lighter plow vehicle, but I think you may find that you're going to slide around just...

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 275/45-22 and 265/70-17 Tires on F-150
The best tire chains we have for 275/45-22 tires are the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains part # TC2327. The Titans Tire Chains are an excellent option because they are super easy to install, have a diamond pattern for increased traction, and low profile links for a smooth ride. The other options you have in the from of ladder style chains have lapses in coverage because there is no diamond pattern and the links are much thicker so you need more clearance to install them and they will...

For the tire size of 265/70-17 that you have on your 2018 Toyota 4Runner the Titan chains you would want are the part # TC2326. While you have a more aggressive tread pattern these chains have enough adjustability that would allow them to compensate for that.

You've already checked the owner's manul of your 2010 Ford F-150 which is a great start. It might state which axle snow chains should be used on as well. If it doesn't then the rear axle is the definite and the front axle is just extra since you have 4-wheel drive. Traveling in some parts of the country (Colorado definitely included) you are required to have snow chains or the local authorities may not even let you contiue driving. I was able to find in the owner's manual for your 2019 Ford F-350 that as long as you do not have 20" wheels you will be able to use Class S snow chains on your truck, even if they have an E load rating. Since the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains w/ Cams for Wide Base Tires # TC3829CAM you were looking at are not Class S chains, you will need to use a different chain.
