Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

These chains are great for giving you a little extra traction in the snow. But if you live somewhere where you experience heavy snow often, you'll definitely want something more heavy duty than cables. Because these cable chains are lightweight and don't take up a lot of storage space, they are also perfect for keeping in your trunk if you occasionally travel through areas that require you to have chains on hand.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's user manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Cable Chains

Installing these chains is simple.

Lay chains on the ground.

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks.

Drape chain over tire.

2. Drape the chain over the tire or lay the chain out and drive onto it.

Connect cable behind tire.

3. Reach around to the back of the tire and fasten the rear side cable by running the end with the metal stops through the eye of the hook on the opposite end.

Secure excess cable.

4. Run any excess side cable through the metal clip.

Repeat around front.

5. Repeat this process on the front side of the tire.

Install rubber adjusters

6. Drive forward 1 car length, then check the chain and hand tighten it again if needed.

Rubber adjusters (sold separately) are recommended to help ensure a tight fit. Connect these to the front side of the cable in a star pattern. Make sure the hooks face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Now that the holidays and medical scares are over. The chains came sooner than expected. I was able to fit them to the trailer tires! So we are ready for more snow! I read that vehicles with trailers over 10,000 lbs have to have chains for one axle of the trailer, (when chains are required). Hopefully I won't have to use them!
THANK YOU ETRAILER!

2018 Dodge Ram Pickup

Purchased Titan Tire Chains for Wide Base Tires - Ladder Pattern - Square Link part TC3229S for a 2018 Ram 2500 with OEM 275/70/R18 tires. These are great chains and very heavy-duty for wide base tires. I mounted them on the rear axle of the Ram and discovered the chain in close proximity to the P-Brake cable, too close for my comfort. I believe the wide base chains are too wide for these OEM tires and fit was pretty loose.
One could gain more clearance near the E-Brake by attaching the inside hook to the end (last) link. Then using a chain a tightener do your best to take up all the outside slack. I just was not comfortable with the overall fit so I send these chains back. Very painless return made easy by etrailer because they emailed a return UPS label.

After reviewing tech info and reviews I purchased Titan Alloy Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link part TC2533 for the 2018 Ram 2500. These are regular duty and a better fit. These chains offer a lot more clearance for the P-Brake cable. They are a cleaver design, have great carrying case and are fairly quick to install. I have not purchased winter tires for this vehicle so the Ram need chains to pull a travel trailer up and down our snow-covered road.

Chevrolet Colorado

I've used the cable snow chains with steel rollers in Colorado when the DOT announced chain laws over the radio. It does its job of keeping the vehicle on the road and it's easy to put on the wheels. Great for emergency use if caught in ice or snow. I keep two pairs of chains in the car just in case we run into increment weather. As to the different brands, I'll have to see which one lasts longer when they are used. Etrailer is a great place to shop.

Cables are compact for fitting in low profile areas like my wife's Honda Accord. Only issue is that the size recommended, I'm on the last rung of the cable and not able to attach the extra safety loop. It still seems very secure though. The deeper the snow the better, as it lessens road vibration. In PA we had ice and about 5 inches of snow on the roads. I went everywhere better than the 4x4's were making out. Thousands cheaper than buying a new truck. More $$$ for my hotrod fund.
CUSTOMER SERVICE was EXCELLENT and 5 star! I even received a follow up email and phone call. I'm in sales and can't say this even happens anymore. Thank you !

Great to have to get out of bad road co nditions

by:

Don't buy these chains. Ladder chains are inferior to Z-type or diamond-pattern chains, and are occasionally prohibited on certain icy highways.

These are also of low quality construction. I had an issue where the chain got bent around itself (and my axle), so it could not be removed, and had to be cut off my car.

by:

Thanks so much for your assistance in compliance with our new traction law on I70 through the Colorado mountains. Your site was easy to use in sizing chains, ordering with fast, efficient delivery. Additionally the installation video was very helpful for those of us new to the process.

by:

These chains are awesome, super easy to install and they work great. We had some snow recently and these were exactly what I needed, I was able to get up the hill near my house when 4x4 trucks couldn't.

2017 Toyota Corolla

Good looking product. Having chains in the trunk during winter travel is a must here in CA. CHP will turn you around in a second and you will have to hunt for chains who knows where, if you don't plan ahead. A great insurance policy to have these in the trunk, even if you don't use them. The set I bought for another car never got used, but I don't consider them a waste of money.

I have not tried the chains yet, but the shipping was incredibly fast and communication/notifications were great. Hoping the product is just as good! Price was fantastic!

These are good quality cables, I never had to use them, the studded tires got me through an easy winter before trading in the car. I just carried them just in case.

Good pair of basic tire chains.

by:
2016 Toyota Corolla

I haven't tried the chains yet, but I got the wrong tensioners

by:

These chains are a safety feature to be carried in my wife's trunk so IF & WHEN we do need them we will have them handy. This works along the same principle as having a spare tire in your trunk. When you have an unexpected flat tire you are so thankful you have a solution to your problem with you.

Thanks,

Michael

  • Will Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains fit 2014 Nissan Sentra, 205-55/16 Size Tires
The Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC1034 will fit the 205/55-16 size tires on the 2014 Nissan Sentra. These cables will help provide traction in light snow and the low profile will offer a smooth ride. The Sentra's owner's manual requires that Class S chains be used, and the # TC1034 cables comply with that requirement. Per the owner's manual, chains or cables should only be installed on the front wheels. Rubber adjusters are recommended to use with these cables. I recommend...

  • Tire Chains for EZ Loader Boat Trailer With 205/75R14 Tires
The Titan Chain Cable # TC1034 will fit the 205/75R14 tires on your EZ Loader Boat trailer. However, I do not recommend using cables unless there are no other options. Cables are not very effective and are typically for emergency use. Instead, I would get actual chains like the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains # TC1134. These will do a much better job with a minimal cost difference. These chains use a ladder-pattern with twist links and have a low-carbon steel construction.

  • Correct Titan Cable Tire Chain for my 2020 Toyota Camry with Tire Size 235/45R18
Yes unfortunately part # TC1034 is not a fit for the 235/45R18 tires. Instead use the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains - Ladder Pattern part # TC1042. These are a larger chain and confirmed to fit your 2020 Toyota Camry with your tire size. Be sure to check your owner's manual for any specific rules you need to follow when using chains to prevent any vehicle damage.

There aren't tire chains made specifically for trailer tires/applications. If you can get me your tire size I can help you pick out a set that would work. The Titan chains part # TC1034 would fit a couple common trailer tire sizes like 205/75-14 and 205/75-15.

  • Do I Really Need To Use an Extra Tensioner With My Snow Tire Chain?
While the Titan Chain Cable Snow Tire Chains # TC1034 'technically' don't need chain adjusters or separate tensioners, I highly recommend them. Especially since they don't have a self-tensioning system like the Konig CG9 # TH00023100 or even cam tighteners. These cable tire chains are designed to be tightened by adjusting only the front and the back connections. Without a tightener, you'll have to go back and forth until you fine-tune the tightest fit, and even that fit has a wiggle room...
