Video Transcript for Let’s Check Out the Emergency Traction Mats for Vehicle Tires

Jeff: Hello, everybody. This is Jeff etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at the emergency traction mats for your vehicles tires. It is for a quantity of two mats. Now these are nice emergency traction mats, which will help get your stuck vehicle out of snow, ice, mud or even sandy conditions. They're much easier to use than tire chains.

Basically, just place these mats under the leading edge of your tires and drive up smoothly out of the mess. They are a nice, flexible, heavy duty plastic. They use the strong metal hinges and they have raised nubs on both sides of the mat for superior traction.Just want to zoom in here, so you can see there's one side and there's the other side. Basically if you look, this side they're a little bit longer and more pointier, so this is probably what you want to put into the ground or the mud or the snow. And then this part here with the shorter ones, you probably just drive up your tires onto those.

Now it is designed to work on almost any car, van, pickup truck or small cargo truck and they are lightweight. They do easily fold. You can see just like that. Nice compact size to store easily in your trunk. And it does include the two traction mats in a visible safety yellow color. On this end, it has a little ramp portion and on this end, it's more of a blunt end.

So this, you would probably put under the beginning of the tire and then drive up this way onto it, like a ramp. Overall length on these, from one end to the other, it's going to be right about 38-1/2 inches, width of seven inches wide. But that should do it for the review on the emergency traction mats for vehicle tires.

All reviews start with five stars. Since I have had these traction mats, I have not needed them so there's still five stars. Before I bought this set, I was always getting stuck somewhere. That's good, right? So, five stars!

Sorry to say, they were destroyed when my F250 got stuck on a gravel driveway trying to pull a trailer on a slight uphill. They shot out from under the tires and shattered from the gravel. I guess it will work for some applications but it didnt work for me.

Customer service was outstanding, everything from placing my order to following up to ensure my package arrived. The traction mats that I ordered are well built and much more compact than I anticipated. Very happy with every aspect of dealing with “etrailer”.

I have had one occasion to use this and it worked perfectly. My camper van had been parked I an area where the snow melted and then froze so it was sitting on ice and would not go forward or backward. I placed these under the front wheels and that was all it needed. It more than paid for itself in one effortless use.

  • How to Keep My Camper from Sinking in the Sand
Nice to hear from you again Lorie. The emergency traction mats are made for recovering vehicles from the mud, sand and snow but do not work well for campers. What you need is a larger footplate on your stabilizer jacks to prevent sinkage. I recommend to use the StayPut Jack Stand Pad w/ Handle part # A10-0924 under your stabilizer jack feet to evenly distribute the weight of the jacks. The larger the footprint, the less likely your jacks will sink into the sand. We had a customer in 2020...
