Provider Radials

Provider radials are constructed with double polyester cords and double steel belts for increased durability and endurance. A protective layer of nylon is wrapped around the steel belts to help prevent tread separation. Provider radials are bake tested - a process usually reserved for automotive tires - to ensure that the rubber holds up over time.

Close up of prg80235 tread

The standard tread on this tire has solid, continuous ribs, and there are very few sipes (or thin grooves) cut into the rubber. This tire is designed for use on trailers, so it doesn't require the level of traction that would be needed on a vehicle that is braking or steering.

Radial Tires vs. Bias Tires

Radial tire vs bias tire graphic

Radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The cords on a radial tire are positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel so that they lay across the width of the tire from wheel lip to wheel lip. This construction prevents the cords from rubbing against one another when the tire flexes, unlike the cords on a bias ply tire. As a result, radial tires have less rolling resistance and heat buildup, which leads to a longer tread life and improved steering at higher speeds.

  • Best Trailer Tire in Size ST235/80R16
The best tire we have in the size ST235/80R16 that you referenced would be the # TTWTRTM2358016E. This radial tire is a Load Range E with a 3,520 lbs at 80 psi capacity and a speed rating of 81 miles per hour. Normally trailer tires are only rated for 65 MPH, but since this one is rated higher it would be the best option that we have since most people really want to at least do 70 MPH. I attached a review video for this tire for you to check out as well.

  • Can I Use Load Range G Tires On a Wheel with Load Range E Tires
The "J" that you are referring to has nothing to do with the load range but rather the shape of the bead on the trailer wheel. The main issues you are going to run into when upgrading to load range G tires is wheel capacity, not psi. The majority of 16x6 wheels with a 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern will be rated for enough to hold a load range G tire but if you instead have a 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern then we no not carry any wheels rated for enough to hold a load range G tire so I doubt yours...

  • What Is The Highest Load Rating Available For 225/75-15 Tires?
Hello Roy, thanks for reaching out. We do have the 225/75-15 tires but nothing G rated. Our highest rating in that size would be the E range tires you have now. So we would not have a good tire upgrade option for you. As far as the blowouts, are you running each tire at the max psi listed on the sidewall? If the tires are not properly inflated this could increase the chances of a blowout. Anything that could cause the tire to overheat beyond normal levels would increase the risk of blowout....

The Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range G # PRG80235 are rated for 4,080 lbs at 110 psi and speeds up to 81 mph. You will see that we have 16 inch wheels that are rated for up to 4,400 lbs but when combined with this tire, you will be limited by the lesser weight capacity. I've linked the page to all your combination options with a load range G 235/80-16 Tire. We just have the one tire with a 30.8 inch diameter and a 9.3 inch section width. It is compatible with many...

  • Will Going to a Tire with Higher Ply Rating Prevent Blow Outs on a Livestock Trailer
The main reasons why trailer tires blow out is heat generated from under inflated tires and overloading the tires. Trailer tires should be inflated to the maximum psi indicated on the tire. A tire in the same size but with a higher ply rating would be able to combat some of that but can eventually have the same issues. So when inflating trailer tires be sure to go to the max psi. With that said the 14 ply tires will definitely hold up better than the 10 ply. For an ST235/80R16 tire, load...

  • Recommended Air Pressure for Provider HD ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire
Hey Jeff! The Provider HD ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # PRG80235 should always be run at the max 110 psi. Most trailer tires are designed to be run at the max psi unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer. Running them at a lower pressure will lead to an unknown capacity which may cause a blowout or other issues.

  • Will Using Load Range G Tires Have a Rougher Ride Than Load Range E Of The Same Size?
The Provider ST235/80R16 # PRG80235 in the load range G will have a stiffer sidewall than that of the # TTWTRTM2358016E in load range E. This will cause them to have rougher ride and more bouncing as the tires will not absorb the shock if you are using them when only a load range E tire is required. It is important to use the correct load range for the trailer and the equipment that you will be using on the trailer. If you lower your tire rating you must remember that it will lower the...

  • Best Replacement Tires for Big Tex Gooseneck Trailer
We have a great option and solution to work with your Big Tex Gooseneck Trailer. At this time we do not have tires size 235/80R16 Load Range F, but we do recommend Provider ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire Load Range G item # PRG80235 for your trailer. The difference between a load range F and load range G tire of the same size, 235/80R16, is the weight capacity and pressure. • Correct Tire Pressure for ST235/80R16 Trailer Tires
Special trailer tires should always be inflated to the maximum psi pressure figure shown right on the tire sidewall. Always check pressure and inflate as needed with the tires cold, such as first thing in the morning. As you drive and as the daytime temperature increases the pressure within the tire will then increase from the cold starting pressure but this is normal and does not require you to compensate for it. Each 10 degrees of Fahrenheit ambient temperature change equates to about...

  • Recommended ST235/80R16 Tires for 5th Wheel Trailer
You can certainly move up to a Load Range G tire, which will have a load capacity of 4,080 pounds at 110 psi in the ST235/80R16 size tire that you currently have mounted. The biggest cause for tire failure is excessive heat. This can be caused by overloading the tires, not inflating them to their maximum psi, or exceeding their speed limit. Trailer tires should always be inflated to their maximum psi as listed on the sidewall. To replace your tires I highly recommend the Provider St235/80R16...

  • How Often Should Trailer Tires be Replaced
Hey Joel, so this is a great question because you'd think it would be based on mileage but in reality its based on age. They need to be replaced between 4 and 6 years because they start to break down around that time. Usually people don't put enough miles on the tires in that amount of time for them to actually wear out. If you let me know what tire size you have I can see what you'd need if you are due to "retire".

  • Selecting Correct ST235/80-16 Special Trailer Tires
When putting new tires on a trailer the most important things are to ensure you select special trailer type tires (the ST type) in a compatible size and with the weight load range needed to handle the weight of the fully-loaded trailer.
