1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Let's take a look at this Provider ST 225/75R15 load range E radial trailer tire with this 15 inch aluminum black machined county line wheel with the six on 5 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now this tire and wheel assembly is going to be ideal for your RVs, your campers and trailers. This special trailer tire or ST tire has sturdy sidewalls so that it can handle heavy loads. This is created specifically for trailers and it's not intended for use on other vehicles.
Now this assembly does feature the tire match mounted and balanced to the wheel for ride comfort and durability. The match mounting of tires and wheels is a process in which the tire installation position on the wheel is specifically selected to help minimize the final force of imbalance. The method of match mounting involves aligning the tire's lightest spot with the wheel's heaviest spot to eliminate most of the radial force that can cause the tire and suspension wear. And then a final balance is done by applying weights to specific spots on the wheel, and you might be able to see the weights here. And then we have some weights right here.
And so those weights are applied to those specific spots on the wheel to eliminate any chance of uneven wear or vibration. This radial tire is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for a long life. As you probably know, radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway. The nylon tread firming belt overlays help prevent tread separation. And this tire is bake tested to ensure that the rubber holds up over time and the automotive grade tread has sipes that will channel water away from the tire to improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions.
Now as I mentioned at the beginning of our time together, and as we have stamped here on our tire, this is an ST 225/75R15. The section width is 7.99 inches. The outer diameter when inflated is 27.17 inches. This is the load range E tire, meaning it has an eight ply rating and the maximum load is 2,830 pounds at 80 PSI. And this has a speed rating of M, indicating a maximum speed of 81 miles per hour.
Now this aluminum wheel is durable, it's lightweight and it's rust proof. It features this county line series, six fork design in black with machined silver accents that give a bold, sleek look. And the glossy enamel coating is going to resist corrosion. The steel inserts and the lug nut wells are going to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub. The inserts are going to prevent the holes from wearing down or eliminating the need for the constant re-tightening of lug nuts. The dimensions of our wheel measuring bead seat to bead seat is 15 inches in diameter. The width is six inches and our bolt pattern is six on 5 1/2 inches. And in case you don't know, the first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes and then the second number is the diameter in inches of the circle on which the bolt holes sit. So to determine the bolt circle diameter on wheels with an even number of bolt holes as we have here, you're simply going to measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the bolt hole directly across from it. The wheel capacity is 2,835 pounds. The wheel stud size is half an inch by 20. A center cap is not included, but if you pick one up, you just wanna make sure that if it's a pilot diameter of 4.25 inches. This assembly does meet the Department of Transportation specifications and it does exceed the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
