1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Provider ST225/75R15 Load Range E radial trailer tire with this 15 inch Vesper black mod wheel with a six on five and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this tire and wheel assembly is going to be great for your stock trailers, your utility trailers and campers. This special trailer tire or ST tire has sturdy sidewalls so that it can handle heavy loads. And this is created specifically for trailers and not intended for use on other vehicles. Now this assembly features the tire match mounted and balanced to this wheel for ride comfort and durability.
The match mounting of tires and wheels is a process in which the tire installation position on the wheel is specifically selected to help minimize the final force of imbalance. The method of match mounting involves aligning the tire's lightest spot with the wheel's heaviest spot to eliminate most of that radial force that can cause tire and suspension wear. Then a final balance is done by applying weights to specific spots on the wheel as you can see here on this assembly. That's gonna help eliminate any chance of uneven wear or vibration. So this radial tire is constructed with double steel belts and double polyester cords for a long life.
As you know, radial ply tires are designed for trailers that are towed on the highway and the nylon tread firming belt overlays are gonna help prevent tread separation. This tire has been bake tested to ensure that the rubber holds over time. And then the automotive grade tread has sipes that are gonna channel water away from the tire to improve traction during wet, snowy, or icy conditions. So as I stated at the beginning of our time together, and as we have stamped here on our tire, this is an ST225/75R15. The section width is 8.78 inches.
The outer diameter is 28.31 inches. This is a load range E tire, meaning it has a 10 ply rating and the maximum load is 2,830 pounds at 80 psi. And this has a speed rating of M, indicating a maximum speed of 81 miles per hour. Now this Vesper steel wheel with this mod design that you see here is sturdy, it's corrosion resistant. The black acrylic enamel finish is going to resist chipping and other damage better than powder coat finishes.
This finish is applied after a zinc phosphate pre-treatment and it covers an E-coat primer layer. So this is going to give you excellent corrosion resistance with a salt spray rating of more than 1,000 hours. The beveled stud holes are gonna help keep this wheel securely in place on your trailer hub, eliminating the need for constant re-tightening of the lug nuts. The dimensions of our wheel, looking at the diameter first measuring bead-seat-to-bead-seat where the tire actually sits on the wheel itself, it's gonna be 15 inches in diameter and the width is gonna be six inches wide and our bolt pattern is six on five and a half inches. And in case you don't know, the first number in the bolt pattern is the number of holes, and the second number is the diameter in inches of the circle on which the bolt holes sit. So to determine the bolt circle diameter on wheels with an even number of bolt holes as we have here, you're gonna simply measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the other bolt hole directly across from it. The wheel capacity is 3,080 pounds. The wheel stud size is half an inch by twenty, the center cap is sold separately, but if you pick one up, you just wanna make sure that it fits a pilot diameter of 4.25 inches. Now this assembly does meet the Department of Transportation specifications and it does exceed the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. And one final note, this tire and wheel assembly does come with a platinum plus warranty that includes complimentary roadside assistance for two years. So if your trailer has a flat tire, you simply call their helpline and a technician will come and change out the flat tire with your existing inflated spare tire. And that service is available to you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And in addition to the roadside assistance, this warranty will also include other benefits. I was very disappointed to see that only the outside of my wheel was painted white. When mounted on my motorcycle trailer, both sides of the wheel are clearly visible. Unbelievable that the miniscule savings afforded by skipping this step is considered justified. I am now stuck, of course, because the delay to exchange or return it would be unacceptable.
If this is indicative of the quality I should expect from etrailer, this will be my last order.

Bought it for a Spare tire. Tire was made Oct.2024 and I got the wheel/tire May 2026. No worries….. it’s a spare tire.
Tires came as promised. I have not installed them as of yet, but i really like the look. They should look great on my restored 1994 Starcraft popup. Can't wait to get it on the road again. Hopefully the end of July.

Light, sturdy feeling, perfect pressure straight out of the box. Honestly this was my first time ordering any kind of tire online so i was a bit paranoid. But the vehicle selector narrowed down the search to this beauty. Fits like a glove on my old 2005 jayco jay series. while its too early for me to rate its longevity, i find the product feel reassuring.
On the first trip with these tires and wheels, All wheel weights broke off. Will have to have these balanced again. Tires and wheels are as expected
When the tires arrived, the hubs had a few stretches on them which I assume it from mounting the tires. I installed them and drove around the block. Even though it was a short drive, they seemed to be a much better upgrade than the bias ply tires I had on the trailer.
I also should add that I bought these because of the highway rating as I will be hauling my motorcycle to NY this summer.
UPS driver put the tire box at my back gate and was very kind to do so. I’ve ordered 5 new tire/rims for an Alaska trip and and a spare for my cargo trailer in the past. This tire will be a spare on my new trailer.
The 2 Provider Tires on Vespar rims are in excellent condition, mounted good and look in excellent condition.

Excellent looking wheels and tires! The wheels are flawless - no scratches or chips.
I put these on a small utility trailer that I expanded for hauling my kayak and jon boat. The gross weight is very light so I reduced my tire pressure to about 75psi and took the trailer for its maiden test drive this past weekend. Handles great in town. It did 75-80mph on the highway no problem.
