When you’re running long distances with serious weight behind you, this combo is made to take it. The Maxxis ST235/80R16 radial tire carries up to 3,420 lbs at 80 psi and holds steady at highway speeds up to 87 mph (speed rating N). The radial construction tracks straight and smooth, keeping heat in check mile after mile.
Heavy loads and repeated trips can wear on a tire fast, but this one’s built to stay strong. A reinforced sidewall keeps things stable under load, and the dual-cord body casing adds strength against damage. The high-load tread compound keeps heat under control, so you can trust it to perform when conditions get tough.
The powder-coated steel wheel isn’t just about looks—it’s about durability. With a 16" x 6" rim, 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern, and a wheel capacity of 3,300 lbs, it’s a solid match for demanding hauls. The black finish resists corrosion and keeps its clean look through seasons of use.
Flat tires don’t wait for a convenient time. That’s why this assembly comes backed with the Maxxis 1-Year No Excuses Guarantee, giving you a free replacement if the tire fails under normal use. It also includes 2 years of 24/7 roadside assistance plus a 5-year limited warranty on the radial ST tire and lifetime structural coverage on the wheel.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hi, everyone, Steven here with etrailer. Today, we're taking a look at this Maxxis ST235 by 80R16 Radial Tire with a 16 inch black modular wheel with a 6 on 5 1/2 inch lug pattern. So folks, this is a great tire and wheel combo if you're looking for a replacement, maybe yours are worn down, those kinda things. This does feature a nice high-load tread compound. So when I turn it here, you get a good look at that tread. It's gonna keep heat under control when hauling those heavy loads.
And everything here is gonna reduce irregular wear, giving you longer service on your treads. And they even feature a reinforced sidewall, so that's gonna help stay stable under repeated load cycles. And this also features a premium inner liner inside of the wheel itself, inside the tire rather. That's gonna also slow any kind of air loss and help maintain constant inflation. And zooming back out here.
So again, we have a 6 on 5 1/2 inch load pattern. And if you look over here at the valve cap here, you can see it's a red cap. So what that red cap on a valve stem indicates is that this assembly has been bead balanced. What are balancing beads, Steven Well, balancing beads are a method that are used to balance tires that are particularly useful on trailer tires. So they don't come pre-balanced, most trailer tires don't.
So the beads are placed inside the tire during its production when they mount it. And when the tire rotates, those beads are gonna evenly distribute naturally. They're gonna counteract the imbalances, and they're gonna give you the even tire wear and give you a better performance. Now, the wheel bolt can either be a 1/2 inch by 20 or a 9/16 inch by 18. The capacity of this wheel and tire combo is 3,300 pounds.
The pilot hole diameter, if you're looking for a center cap, is gonna be 4.25 inches or 4 1/4 inches. Overall, the outer diameter when inflated, side to side, is gonna be 30.8 inches. This is a Load Range E, and it has a maximum speed rating of N or 87 miles per hour. Well, folks, that's gonna wrap up our quick look together at this Maxxis Radial Tire with a 16 inch black modular wheel. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
