Features to know about

Made for Long Hauls and Heavy Loads: Load Range F with 81-mph Speed Rating

When you’re logging serious miles with a heavy setup, you want a tire-and-wheel combo that’s built to take it. The Karrier ST235/85R16 radial tire is Load Range F with a 12-ply rating and a 3,960-lb maximum load at 95 psi. It’s matched to a 16" x 6" steel wheel rated for the same capacity, so both ends of the setup are ready for highway use. The tire’s M speed rating of 81 mph and DOT compliance give you confidence for long-distance hauls in heat or rough conditions.

Smooth, Reliable Performance at Highway Speeds: Radial Construction for Stability

The radial design couples strength with flexibility for a smooth, stable ride at higher speeds. With cords positioned at a 90-degree angle to the direction of travel, the tire flexes evenly, reducing rolling resistance and heat buildup. That means less wear over time, better traction in wet or dry conditions, and improved steering response when you’re towing down the interstate.

Corrosion Protection That Lasts: White Powder-Coated Steel Wheel

Moisture and road grime don’t stand a chance against the white powder coat finish over an e-coat primer on this Dexstar 8-spoke steel wheel. The corrosion-resistant surface keeps the wheel looking clean and strong through rain, humidity, or coastal salt exposure. It’s a simple way to add durability and clean styling that holds up trip after trip.

Mounted and Ready from the Start: Pre-Mounted and Air-Ready Design

No need for shop time before getting on the road. The Karrier ST235/85R16 comes pre-mounted on its 16" white steel wheel and arrives inflated to proper pressure. The tire’s heavy spot is aligned with the light spot on the wheel for a balanced feel that’s ideal for trailer use. Stainless steel valve stems rated for high pressure (up to 100 psi) come installed, so you can bolt it on and get rolling right away.

Dependable Specs That Fit Right: 8 on 6-1/2 Bolt Pattern with Zero Offset

Fitment is straightforward thanks to the common 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern and zero offset design that centers load evenly across the hub. It uses wheel bolt sizes of 1/2"-20 or 9/16"-18 with a pilot diameter of 4.90". With an outer diameter of 31.6" and section width of 9.37", this assembly keeps dimensions consistent while delivering serious load capacity in a durable, worry-free package backed by Kenda’s 5-year tire warranty and limited 1-year wheel warranty.

Determining Bolt Pattern

1. Count the lug holes

Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).

Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug

2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.

Center to Center
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"

2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)

Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).

Center to Outside Edge
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

I ordered 4 tires on rims. Received promptly but noticed wrong valve stems installed. Called and etrailer sent correct ones and gave credit to get them installed. Took tires for valve stem installation and had tires balanced. 3 were fine but 1 rim had 2 inch runout/wobbled. etrailer made it good by sending a replacement. Etrailer treated me right but 2 different problems with one order will keep me from ordering from them again. If I had installed tires without the balance/problem discovery if would have tore my trailer up.

Good quality, excellent value!

I just wanted to double check on the size of studs these wheels AM35099 can accommodate. The literature says 12 studs, but Im hoping theyll work with 9/16 studs?

According to Dexstar, the manufacturer of the wheel, it will accommodate both 1/2-20 and 9/16-18 studs.

We just received two tires for our trailer. We have not used them yet to see how they will hold up to our load. I am hoping they will do well. If so we will be ordering again if we aren't in a hurry for them. The only think I'm not satisfied with is how long it took for them to ship. We placed our order, on a Monday morning May 23rd and they were not shipped out until, Friday the 27th. We finally received them on Wednesday, June 01st. Most of the time when you order something online it is shipped out within a day or two not four days later. It took a little over a week to receive the order that I feel like we should have had no later than the 27th instead it was just being shipped that day. If you are in a hurry needing tires you better go to your local tire store.

by:

High quality tread, they should do well in the rain, mud and snow.

by:

It looks like it will be a great spare tire. I ordered it Monday, and it arrived on Wednesday afternoon. It was a great experience.

by:

Needed a spare for a heavy duty trailer I bought this is a great price and FREE shipping! The wheel pattern or design is a perfect match, I'm a happy camper!

See what our Experts say about this Kenda Trailer Tires and Wheels

  • Can ST225/75R15 Trailer Tires be Replaced with ST235/85R16 Trailer Tires
The tires that you have now, ST225/75R15, are 28.4 inches tall and 8 inches wide. The larger ST235/85R16 are 31.6 inches tall and 9.25 inches wide. You would need enough space all around the existing tires to use the larger size. Only half of the difference is applied towards the trailer from the sidewall and above the tire tread to a fender or trailer body. That means that you would need more than 1.6 inches above the tread and more than 0.625 inches between the sidewalls and the trailer...

  • What are the Tire Pressure Ratings for ST235/85-16 Trailer Tires?
The ST235/85-16 tires that we provide all have maximum psi ratings of 80, 95 or 110 dependent on the load rating. For example, the load-range G Provider Radial Trailer Tire, # TTWPRG235R16, has a maximum load rating of 4,080 lbs at 110 psi while the load-range E Kenda Karrier Radial Trailer Tire, # AM32743B, has a max load rating of 3,640 lbs at 80 psi. You should go with the maximum psi that your tire's manufacturer felt was appropriate for your tire.

On the Kenda Karrier ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 16 Inch White Wheel # AM35099 referenced in your question, the valve stem is the Americana Metal High Pressure Metal # AM20906, which has a maximum tire pressure of 100 psi and greater. • Will Going to a Higher Load Range Tire Prevent Blowouts on a 5th Wheel Trailer
First, regarding inflation, trailer tires should always be inflated to the maximum pressure as indicated on the tire. If you do this when they are cold (always inflate tires cold) there is no need to let any air out after they have warmed up. The slight pressure increase will not cause any problems, even in the desert. If the tires are inflated to the max and they are blowing out it could mean the trailer is overloaded. But based on what you have said the trailer was going to and from...

  • Option to Determine How to Replace 6.00-16 Tire & Wheel
We do not have a tire that is going to be able to fit the wheel your 6.00-16 tire is on now as those tires fit much narrower wheels than what modern 16 inch tires are designed to fit. So you'd have to go with a new tire and wheel combined. If you aren't sure what your wheel bolt pattern is I have linked a help article below which describes how to measure to find it. You also need to know the load range you need, which should meet or exceed your trailer's GVWR. For example, if you had...

  • Looking for Wheel/Tire to Fit Grand Teton 40 Las Vegas III GR
Hey David, I can help but we don't know for sure what wheel and tire size your Grand Teton 40 Las Vegas III GR has currently so the best solution I can provide would be to check the tire size on your tire and count the lugs on the wheels. If the tire size is ST235/85R16 and the wheel is held on with 8 lug nuts then yes this would work. This does not come with lug nuts so those would need to be ordered separately with the # DE46NR for if you have 1/2 inch studs or part # DE35KR if you have...

  • Do Wheel and Tire Assemblies Come Pre-Balanced
All of our wheel/tire combos like the Karrier ST235/85R16 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 16" White Wheel part # AM35099 come pre-balanced to an extent. The heavy spot on the wheel is aligned with the light spot on the tire to create a balance that is sufficient for use on trailers. They are not completely balanced and will need to be taken to a reputable shop to be zeroed out should you choose but the light/heavy spot method will be more than sufficient for most trailers.

  • Should I Upgrade the Tires on my Fifth Wheel Trailer to a Higher Load Range/Size
There is no way to use a tire designed to fit a 16 inch rim on a 15 inch rim. Your best option will be to determine the total weight of your trailer when it is loaded and ready to tow and then pick a wheel/tire combination that has enough capacity. The part # AM10303 is the same size as what you have in a Load Range E and it has a 2,830 lbs at 80 psi. If that has enough capacity for your trailer then that would be all that you need. If you need more capacity you will need to upgrade to...

235/85-16 tires like the Kenda Karrier radial trailer tire # AM10501 will only work with rims that have a width range 6, 6-1/2, 7 and 7-1/2 inches. This tire will fit but it will stretch out the tire because an 8 inch rim is not a standard size. Currently, we have rims with a 7-inch width that will fit 235/85-16 tires. • Do Trailer Wheel and Tire Combos Come Balanced
Trailer wheel and combinations that we sell do not come balanced with weights like what you see on vehicle wheels. They do line the heavy spot of the rim up with the lighter side of the tire to somewhat balance it. One reason people do not balance trailer tires is that the balance weights have a tendency to bounce off when the trailer is unloaded and being towed. The light load of the trailer can sometimes cause the trailer to bounce as it travels down the road which causes the weights...

If you have the trailer loaded to the max gross vehicle weight rating then it would exceed the capacity of 4 tires rated for 3,520 pounds each. So a higher capacity tire is a good idea.
