Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The leaf springs provide the attachment points for your trailer's axle, suspending it from the frame of your trailer. Each spring flexes to absorb road shock as you travel, allowing the axle to move somewhat independently of the rest of your trailer. This helps to reduce wear and tear on the trailer and also ensures a smooth ride.
Double-eye leaf springs attach to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. One end of this spring will attach directly to the hanger with a suspension bolt. The other end will attach to shackle straps that are suspended from a hanger. These straps allow the spring to move and pivot so that it can better compensate for uneven pavement. If you have a tandem- or triple-axle trailer, the shackle straps will be attached to the equalizer that connects multiple springs.
To mount this spring, you will need hangers, shackle straps, and suspension bolts. If you are simply replacing a spring, you may still have hangers welded onto your trailer. You should, however, replace your shackle straps because they are usually the first component to wear out. You may choose to replace old suspension bolts as well. It is recommended that you replace the other leaf spring in your setup at the same time. Because springs can sag and elongate as they wear, this new spring may not exactly match the old one, and the alignment of your trailer could be affected.
If you are fabricating a trailer, you will need to purchase a hanger kit for installation. To determine the type of hanger kit that you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring that you have, as well as your axle capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications. Hangers and other suspension components can also be purchased separately if there isn't a complete kit that works for your setup.

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff atetrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Dexter 23 1/8 inch long three leaf double eye spring for 2,500 pound trailer axles. Now this leaf spring will act as part of your trailer suspension system, provides the attachment point for your trailer's axle. Now these are multiple leaves to allow flexibility to absorb road shock. This spring here has three leaves and it allows for a nice smooth ride, reduces wear and tear on your trailer, and ensures a level right on bumpy and uneven surfaces. Now the length of this is always measured from the center of one spring eye to the center of the other when it's unloaded like it is now.
So if we get our tape measure and go center to center, measure your 23 1/8 inch measurement. The width of the spring is 1 3/4 inches. This is a sturdy steel construction. If you notice the nylon bushings are installed and included, and the eye diameter when the bushing's installed measures 9/16 of an inch. Now the prem mounted hangers are the aftermarket hangar kit, which is required for installation.
Those items we do sell separate on our website. Basically this spring will attach to a hanger mounted on your trailer frame at one end, and then the other end connects to shackle straps suspended from a hanger or equalizer. This is for a quantity of one leaf spring. Spring capacity is 1,250 pounds. So when this is matched with one on the other side of the axle, it'll meet the 2,500 pound axle capacity.

My 3500lb leaf springs have failed for the second time so I upgraded to 4000lb springs, I had just upgraded my suspension with the CRE 3000 and wet bolt kit and along with the disc brake conversion I did last year so with the help from etrailer we are ready to put so more comfortable miles behind us. Very nice looking leaf springs, although being a Dexter product I would have thought they were made in USA, a little disappointed they are not, I will be installing on my 20’ enclosed trailer

Springs are perfect and delivered quickly. The packaging did not fare well in shipment and shipper had taped the box back together the best they could. All parts are in fine shape with no damage.
Replaced some prematurely worn-out springs on our RV. Time will tell how they hold up, but they fit perfectly in my application. Replaced the included nylon bushings with brass bushings before install.
It appears I had a bad Dexter spring on my 2026 Sunlite 21TH. Didnt want to deal with Warranty stuff so purchased 4 new springs from etrailer.

Installed 4 new springs, Moryde equalizer and wet bolt kit onto 17 Imagine 2800 BH camper. Total time was 5 hours including blocking up the camper and clean up.
No fitment issues. Ride height increased by 1 inch.

I had purchased 4 of the DX23CR Springs to replace the OEM springs on my Grand Design Imagine XLS 22MLE. The springs were a direct replacement, however I have the MORyde CRE3000 with a wet bolt kit installed. When I removed the nylon bushing to install the bronze bushings for the wet bolts, the bronze bushings fell right thru the hole in the spring eyelets. Eyelets were to large.
I returned the 4 springs and Etrailer sent me out Four more, they had the same issue.
Etrailer was awesome as far as the returns were a breeze.

This 8000# axle leaf spring is one of seven. Six of them on the trailer, and one as a spare. I upgraded from the 7000# leaf spring to the 8000# leaf spring. Keeps my 18,0000lb toyhauler from sagging. A great upgrade. Also might consider the upgrade on wet bolts and thicker shackles. You won't regret it.
These came quick. I haven't had a chance to pull it far down the road but it was a great replacement for the single leaf springs that tracker used on their trailers for the tahoe t16 boats. The shackle strap kit that I used with these worked great as well, however, there was slack in the bushing. It is supposed to be a 9/16" eye in the spring and the shackle kit was 9/16" as well. I went ahead and put it together so hopefully that doesn't come back on me to have to replace prematurely. I will know more later down the road.
We have a new micro-camper trailer, out of the factory weighing 600 pounds. I added 600 pounds of equipment, still well below the limits of the 2000 axle and 1000 pound (each) 3-leaf springs. However, after a little towing on rough highways, the springs were deforming and bottoming out on the frame. I swapped them out with these 4-leaf 1400 pound springs. Now all is good!

I purchased my 5x8 tilting kit trailer in 1993. I added a stake bed and plywood deck and it served me well over the years. I discovered recently that the axle and springs had rusted severely. I planned to scrap the trailer and purchase another. After searching months for new or used and having no luck, I decided to look into replacing the axle and springs. I was able to find replacement with ETRAILER. I was nervous about ordering and worried that it would not fit but I went ahead anyway. My son and I replaced the axle and it fits perfectly.
