Features to know about

Solid Mount for Worn Suspension Parts: 1/4" Thick Steel Bracket Restores Strength

When factory hangers wear down, the suspension loses its solid mounting point. This CE Smith front hanger brings that strength back with 1/4" thick steel construction that holds up under heavy loads. It gives the eye end of your 1-3/4" wide slipper spring a secure place to ride so your suspension stays aligned and dependable.

Built Right for a Clean Fit: 1-1/4" Height and 9/16" Bolt Hole

Getting suspension geometry right matters. This hanger is built with a 1-1/4" height from the top of the hanger to the center of the bolt hole, giving the spring eye a precise mounting position. The 9/16" bolt hole accepts standard suspension hardware for a snug, accurate fit that keeps everything moving smoothly.

Reliable Connection That Lasts: Weld-On Steel for Long-Term Use

Once welded in place, this heavy-duty bracket becomes a permanent, rock-solid part of your suspension system. The weld-on design means no shifting or loosening over time—just a strong connection that holds up through miles of towing and rough roads.

Sized for Real-World Use: Compact but Strong Dimensions

At 2" tall and 1-1/2" deep with a 1-7/8" inner width, this hanger fits tight into your suspension setup without extra bulk. It’s compact, sturdy, and purpose-built to support the spring eye exactly where it needs to be, keeping the trailer tracking true and riding steady.

Video Transcript for Ultimate Overview of the CE Smith Front Hanger for 1-3/4" Wide Slipper Springs

Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this CE Smith Front Hanger. This heavy duty front hanger is going to connect the eye of a slipper spring to your trailer. And this is made here in the USA, and it is a weld-on installation. And this is going to work with a nine 16ths of an inch in diameter shackle bolt.

And of course, those bolts are sold separately. And let me retrieve my ruler here and just go over some measurements with you that'll prove helpful. Looking at the thickness of this hangar, as you can see, we're sitting right at a quarter of an inch thick. And then some overall dimensions. The overall height, we're sitting right at two inches tall.

And then the overall depth, we're sitting right at an inch and a half. And the inner width, try to line that up here for you. We're sitting right at one and seven eights inches. And then the height from the center of our bolt hole to the top of the hangar. Let's see if we can line that up here.

We're sitting right at an inch and a quarter, again, from the center of that bolt hole to the top of the hangar. Well, that's gonna wrap up our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

Bolt-On spring hangers can't be bought for love or money in any "Brick & Mortar" store in Atlanta. I tried. Etrailer had just the thing with the CE14016G and it's slip-spring sister the CE14017G. I appreciated the feature that I had choice of bolting through the single 1/2 in bolt hole in the center, or the smaller two on the the tabs. It sure beat looking for a welder or bumming an industrial drill press to put holes in the regular hangers. Etrailer did a timely job of shipping on time. The new springs are hung, and I'm looking forward to pulling my boat out of the water.

by:

I rebuilt a small utility trailer. The axle was a little too far forward for me. I used these in case I didn’t like the position. I left the original hangers in place in case I wanted to change the axle back. I haven’t moved it back because the new position balances the trailer just right.

by:

bracket worked well although it seems like the 9/16 hole is slightly larger on one side than the other making a tight fit with the bolt I purchased causing it to only go in the bracket from one side... not a problem but if you want to have both sides of the trailer with bolt and nut on same side of the bracket you might want to dry install before securing the bracket onto the frame to know which way to install the bracket

by:

Looks great. Hope it lines up properly

by:

I have a messed up system for lead springs and have been looking for a cheap, bolt on system to replace the current welded setup I have. I need to move the axle back 6 inches to redistribute the weight for a tiny house project and these seem like they will do the job.
I have a slipper spring system, but the slipper portion is more like a hook, so I can use these for that. As for the front, I need to order 2 more because I wasn't sure if the depth of the hanger would work for the width of the eye, but it will.

These hangers will make it so much easier than having to weld on new brackets.

by:

Product was exactly what I ordered.

YOU GOT ME FIXED UP AND I WILL ORDERING FROM YOU.
I HAVE TWO CAR HAULERS AND A FLAT BED SO I NEED STUFF REGULARLY.
THANKS AGAIN , MERRY CHRISTMAS
DO YOU GUYS SELL TRAILERS ? I'M GOING TO WANT A 12FT X6FT TANDEM CARGO, ODD SIZE, BUT IT WILL BE A PARTS TRAILER . NO WHEEL WELLS INSIDE . WE MOVE OLD CAR PARTS AS WELL AS MESS WITH VINTAGE CARS.

by:

by:

Product looked good. Shipping was delayed a couple of times.

by:

Awesome product. great delivery service... Product will be used to hang thr leafsprings on my boat trailer.

by:

Great fit, exactly as described. Mine bent and just needed one. Great price and product.

by:

I used these 'front' brackets for both front and rear ends of my leaf springs, because I couldn't find a bolt-on rear bracket. I had to bend 1/4" offsets into each of my rear shackles to make the rear brackets work. I added a spacer between my shackles to keep them perpendicular. The original rear clip was 1-3/4" wide on the outside and the shackles were outside the clips. I used 3/8" bolts to attach the brackets to my 3"x1-1/2" steel tube trailer frame. The bracket mounting tabs are drilled for 7/16" bolts, and I would have preferred to use 7/16" bolts, but I couldn't find that size at my local hardware stores. I moved my axle forward to rebalance my boat trailer, because I put a smaller engine on which made tongue weight way too heavy. I went with bolt-on brackets because I could do it myself (I don't have welding equipment). Overall, I'm satsified.

  • Internal Dimensions for Suspension Hangers
Hey David, The internal measurement on both EZ Loader Equalizer Shackle Hanger - Tandem Axle - Galvanized - Bolt-On - 2" Frame - Qty 1 # CES22JR and EZ Loader Equalizer Shackle Hanger - Tandem Axle - Galvanized - Bolt-On - 3" Frame - Qty 1 # CES54BR comes out to be about the same. Using 4" Carbon Fiber Digital Caliper # PTW80157, I measured inside-face-to-inside-face and I got 2.74" on # CES22JR and 2.77" on # CES54BR. The difference in size on both of these hangers is really for the frame...
