Visibility isn’t just about brightness—it’s also about coverage. This PC-rated light throws light out in a full 180-degree pattern, giving clear visibility whether you’re looking straight on or from the side. When mounted properly, it works as both a clearance light and a side marker light, helping other drivers see you from different angles for safer towing at night or in low-light conditions.
Mounting stays straightforward thanks to its recessed design and compatibility with standard connectors. It fits into a grommet (A54GB – sold separately) and accepts an industry-standard 2-prong plug (A46PB or A86PB – sold separately). At 2-1/16" in diameter and 7/8" deep, it tucks in neatly without sticking out where things can catch on it. The result is a clean look that installs easily and stays secure once in place.

Today we're going to be taking a look at part number MCL54AB. This is the Optronics sealed 2-inch round amber LED clearance or side marker light. It's going to feature an LED system that's going to be a great replacement for incandescent lights. LEDs are going to burn brighter, last longer, and they're going to be much more efficient. You don't have to worry about replacing the bulbs, and you don't have to worry about brittle filaments. This particular unit's going to feature a sealed, waterproof housing and lens. It's going to contain five LEDs, or five diodes, so that's really going to optimize our light output, really making our light output really bright.
Here on the backside, you can see the plug. This is designed to accept the industry standard two-prong plug. That's going to be sold separately. It's also designed to flush mount using a mounting grommet. The grommet's going to be sold separately as well.
If you don't already have those items, you can find those here on our website. This unit is SAE and Department of Transportation compliant. If we take a look at the overall dimensions, starting with the diameter, measuring here at the back, since it's our widest point, it's going to be about 2 and 1/16th of an inch. If we measure the depth from the front of the lens to the back of the lens, we're looking at about 1 inch. Then to the back of the plug, we're looking at about 1 and 1/8th of an inch. This LED light is going to draw 0.063 amps at 12.8 volts, and Optronics is going to cover this with a lifetime warranty on the LEDs. We're going to go ahead and hook it up to our external power source.
That way you can see what it looks like with power running to it. I have a two-prong plug. It simply connects into the female ports on the back of the housing. Push it in for a nice, tight seal. You can see here that the light sends out a nice, strong consistent signal.
Again, it's going to feature a multi-diode design featuring five diodes, or five LEDs, so it really does optimize our light output. It sends out a bright signal for such a small light. Again, this light is going to function as your clearance or side marker light, and it is completely sealed so it's going to have that nice waterproof design. Had trouble tracking these specific lights down online. I have bought a few things from etrailer before and they always deliver exactly as advertised. These are a direct replacement for the lights that I had which seemed impossible to find!
The light works excellent. Unfortunately after I took the old one off I realized that the original was never wired up correctly from the factory lol. New light is much brighter so I might go ahead and replace the other two. Received very quickly.
