Corrosion Resistance for Marine Use

This trailer hub assembly has a zinc coating that resists corrosion, making it ideal for use on your boat or snowmobile trailer. All GAL-DEX hubs undergo a test in which they are sprayed with a 5-percent salt solution to determine corrosion resistance over time. These products are able to withstand 500 hours of constant exposure to the saltwater mist. This 500-hour salt spray rating indicates that a product is not only durable enough to last in freshwater environments, but it can also be used on trailers that come into contact with saltwater.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Idler Hubs and DeeMax Slip On Disc Brake Kit for 2019 Big Country 3360ss
Hey Darrel, since you like the DeeMax 7k slip on kit the part number you'd need is the # DE46AR which comes with the slip on rotors and the needed actuator and lines. So for an idler hub what you'd want is the part # 8-231-50UC1 and you'd be set.

  • Recommended Disc Brake Conversion Kit for a 2019 Grand Design Solitude 373FB
Hey David! The DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit w/ Actuator for Tandem Axle Trailers item # DE46AR will work so long as you have idler hubs with a 8 on 6-1/2 lug nut pattern like item # DE46VR. These are slip on rotors so you're definitely going to need some idler hubs too. They are sold individually. It looks like your 2019 Grand Design Solitude 373FB has 7k axles with inner bearing item # 25580 and outer bearing item # 14125A. The DeeMaxx Trailer Idler Hub for 7,000-lb Axles - 8 on 6-1/2 item...

  • Difference Between Trailer Hubs that are Lug Centric and Hub Centric
It is easy to tell which type of wheel you have on your boat trailer. Lug centric wheels slide onto studs on the hub and are secured with lug nuts, like a car tire. If a wheel is hub centric, the wheel centers on the hub and bolts are threaded into the hub to secure the wheel. Every one of the hubs we offer with an 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern is lug-centric. See attached link to see them all.

  • Disc Brake Replacement for Boat Trailer With 6k Dexter Torsion Axle
Hi Cliff; the inner diameter of the bearings used on 5,200-7,000 lb axles is the same so you can choose a higher rated hub to match the bolt pattern. You can use the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly - 5,200-lb, 6,000-lb and 7,000-lb Axles # 42865-KIT or if you have E-Z lube axles the # 8-231-9UC1-EZ. We also have the # 8-231-50UC1 or # 8-231-50UC1-EZ if you want galvanized hubs since it is a boat trailer. All of these use 1/2" wheel bolts so make sure your current wheels are compatible....

  • Replacement Spindle Options and Hubs for an Obsolete 1-3/8 Spindle
I did some research on your spindles because I was not able to find anything on our site, and it turns out your 1 3/8" spindles are obsolete and replacement parts are no longer available. With that being said, I recommend changing out your spindles for the current size spindles. This is going to be very useful when finding replacement parts in the future or in the event of a breakdown. For a 3,500-lbs axle you can use the #84 E-Z Lube Spindle w/ Brake Flange # TRU74FR, with the Easy Grease...

  • 7,000 lb Trailer Axle 6 To 8 Lug Hub Conversion
We have what you need to upgrade your 7,000 lb trailer axles but there are some things that we need to take a look at. Check your ID seal on your spindles. If they require a 2-1/8 inch seal, your wheel size is 16 to 17-1/2 inches and you have a 12 inch brake assembly, then you can use the Dexter Trailer Hub Assembly # 8-219-9UC3. This is for 5,200 to 7,000 lb axles. Now, for your idler axle, if it is a 5,200, 6,000 or 7,000 lb axle and has #42 spindles, you can use this Dexter Trailer...

  • Availability of Trailer Hub Similar to # 8-219-9UC3-A but is an Idler Hub
We do have an idler hub that has same specs as the part # 8-219-9UC3-A that you referenced with the part # 8-231-50UC1 but it's a grease hub and not an oil bath hub.

  • Replacing Obsolete Trailer Spindles With a 1-3/8" Straight Spindle With Current Size Spindles
I am going to recommend changing out your spindles for one of the current size spindles as your spindle is obsolete and no one is producing parts for it currently. This will be extremely helpful in the event of a breakdown as these parts are readily available. We have a few options based on your current axle capacity. I have included a 3,500lb and 5,200lb selection below and included both idler hubs and drum brake hubs. 3,500LB Axle Parts #84 E-Z Lube Spindle w/ Brake Flange # TRU74FR Easy...

  • Recommended Galvanized Idler Hubs For Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension 7000lbs
For the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - Drop Spindle w Brake Flange - Regular Tires - 7K # TASR7KS02 we have a couple options for galvanized metal idler hubs. I recommend the Trailer Hub Assembly for 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb Axles - 8 on 6-1/2 - Galvanized # 8-231-50UC1 or the Trailer Hub Assembly for 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 8 on 6-1/2 - Galvanized # 8-231-50UC1-EZ. The EZ hubs give easier access to grease the bearings of your system.
