This actuator comes unassembled and unprimed so you can weld it in place without worrying about heat damage to internal parts. Since nothing is preinstalled, you can get a clean weld and then prime and paint it to match your trailer once mounted. You don’t have to take anything apart or risk losing pieces—just weld, finish, and go.
The built-in 12" adjustable channel gives you three positions to set your coupler (sold separately). That makes it easy to line up your trailer for a level tow height, whether you’re using a standard ball coupler, lunette ring, or clevis attachment. The channel-up design also provides extra rise for low trailers or setups that need added clearance.
The composite master cylinder is made from glass-reinforced nylon, so it resists rust and corrosion that can affect steel or aluminum units. The large reservoir increases brake fluid capacity, helping keep your system from running low on long hauls. An automotive-style diaphragm cap seals the system to prevent contamination and maintain consistent braking.
A built-in breakaway lever activates your trailer’s brakes if it ever disconnects from the tow vehicle. A safety cable with a snap hook keeps it securely in place during normal use but triggers automatically if the trailer breaks free. Inside, an acetal copolymer lining helps the actuator telescope smoothly every time you brake.
Designed for hydraulic drum brakes, this surge-type actuator welds on top of a 3" wide trailer tongue. It’s built from heavy-duty steel and rated for 12,500 lbs gross towing weight with a 1,250 lbs maximum tongue weight. The sturdy construction gives you dependable braking power for demanding loads and long-term durability.
Because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without the actuator triggering your trailer's brakes.

Hello neighbors, Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at our Demco Unassembled Hydraulic Brake Actuator for drum brakes. That's right folks, so we got the whole kit today. Everything is a raw finish so you can paint it, power code it, enamel it, whatever you want to do on your own application in your own ideas and colors. It is a weld-on installation. It is made here in the US and it's a nice heavy duty steel construction.
Now a hydraulic actuator activates your trailer's brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. So once again, this is unassembled and unprimed and you're gonna weld it on and it will prevent damage to internal components. So the adjustable channel here has three different mounting positions that you can use, 'cause each one takes two holes or two bolt holes rather to hold it in place. It does have a channeled design, which is gonna allow for a higher rise whenever you're using it. And the composite master cylinder is gonna give you a nice, durable and efficient, it's been glass reinforced nylon constructed, so it'll resist rust and corrosion.
Let me zoom in on that a little better here for you. So again, nylon glass reinforced construction. You got the cap and everything, same thing, same material, you get the sliders, same material, glass reinforced nylon construction so that way they can smooth, nice and easy, whenever the brakes are being activated. The large reservoir inside of that master cylinder is gonna give you increase capacity for brake fluid and the automotive style diaphragm cap that they're known for. That just makes it super easy, one to open and close and it also gives you a better seal.
So very nice feature there and it will help prevent contamination of the fluid since it's nice and sealed. You get a nice breakaway cable and the lever and everything to activate that. You got the gaskets, the two shocks, again that snap-on hook on the safety cable itself. And you have your acetal copolymer lining that provides that smooth operation as your actuator telescopes in and out. So again, those are those two guys right there I showed you earlier.
Now again, this works with hydraulic drum brakes and the gross towing weight capacity is 12,500 pounds, while the maximum tongue weight should not exceed 1,250 pounds, that channel width is your standard 3" wide channel, and that works with the 3" wide trailer tongue. The whole kit here is considered model number DA10, and it has a great one year warranty. Well folks, that's gonna wrap it up for our look at this Demco Unassembled Hydraulic Brake Actuator, again for drum breaks only. I'm Steven, thanks so much for watching. Stay safe out there and have a great day.
