Features to know about

Upgrade to Confident, Controlled Braking: 13" Disc Kit for 8,000-lb Axles

Swapping from drums to discs can completely change how your trailer feels behind you. This DeeMaxx 13" disc brake kit includes two integral hub-and-rotor assemblies rated for 8,000-lb axles with a #42 spindle and 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern. Stainless steel calipers and ceramic pads give solid, smooth braking that stays consistent, even at highway speeds. You’ll notice the difference right away in how steady and confident your stops feel.

Built for Harsh Conditions: Maxx Coat and Stainless Steel Resist Corrosion

Saltwater, slush, and road salt destroy ordinary brakes fast. These DeeMaxx hub-rotors and brackets are coated with Maxx Coat, a finish proven to last more than 1,000 hours in salt spray testing—far beyond zinc or Dacromet coatings. The calipers are full stainless steel, and drainage holes in the hat section let water escape quickly to prevent trapped moisture. Whether you tow through winter or launch in saltwater occasionally, this setup keeps corrosion in check.

Keeps Cool Under Load: Vented Design Reduces Heat and Pad Wear

Heavy braking builds heat fast, which can lead to fade or uneven wear. DeeMaxx uses a one-piece vented hub-and-rotor design that sheds heat quickly and prevents debris from working into the rotor seam. The result is cooler running brakes that hold their performance longer and deliver steady stops on long grades or in traffic.

DIY-Friendly Upgrade: Complete Assemblies with Laser-Etched Instructions

This kit is built to make installation straightforward. Each caliper has laser-etched bleeding instructions right on the housing, so you always have guidance at hand when servicing. The one-piece hub-and-rotor assemblies come prepped with inner (25580) and outer (02475) bearings, races, grease seals, grease caps, wheel bolts, and stainless steel lug nuts—just bolt them on and connect to a hydraulic actuator rated at 1,500 psi or higher.

Durable Construction Backed by a 7-Year Warranty

Every part of this DeeMaxx system uses automotive-grade materials built for long life under heavy use. From the stainless piston to the precision-machined hub surfaces, each detail supports reliable braking performance season after season. It’s all backed by a 7-year warranty for added confidence over the long haul.

Video Transcript for Review of DeeMaxx Trailer Brakes - Hub and Rotor Disc Brake Kit - DE98AR

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the DeeMaxx 13 inch Hub and Rotor Assembly Kit with the 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Has the 9/16 inch studs for 8,000 pound axles, and it has a Maxx Coating and stainless steel coating on the calipers. Now, this kit here will let you upgrade your trailer from drum to disc brakes for superior performance. It will include everything laid out here on the table. We're gonna go through all the pieces.

We're gonna start with the hub and rotor assemblies. It gives you two Maxx-Coated cast iron hub rotor assemblies with the pre-installed bearing races already in them. Comes with the two inner bearings, the two outer bearings, the two grease seals. Over here, we got the two easy-lube grease caps, and it includes the lug nuts. There's 16 of the 9/16 by 18 size lug nuts.

Now, we mentioned the calipers. They are stainless steel calipers with the brake pads and stainless steel installation bolts, and over here, we have the caliper mounting brackets, which also have a Maxx Coating on them. Now, this kit will also require a hydraulic brake actuator that's rated at 1,500 PSI or above, and brake lines to activate your brakes. Those items we do sell separately. Now, this kit is excellent for occasional use in salt water or areas with a lot of snow, slush and road salt.

We mentioned the Maxx Coat finish, which is on the hub and rotors and the caliper brackets. They all have a salt spray rating of over 1,000 hours. We mentioned the calipers are stainless steel, they are rust-proof. What's nice on the hub and rotors, if I turn it here, you'll be able to see these holes running around the whole circumference. These are drainage holes in the hat section here, and that allows water in there to drain easily, further minimizing any corrosion.

Now, this kit will offer dramatically shorter stopping distances and nice, smooth, controlled braking. They do use ceramic pads. Wanted to zoom in on one of the calipers here to show you. The ceramic pads will increase stopping power. The piston in there that activates is a 2 1/4 inch diameter stainless steel piston. Provides fast, responsive braking, and it requires minimal maintenance, saving you time and money. Also, what's nice is if I turn this, you might be able to see. It's a little hard to see, but they do etch on the outside here. There's laser-etched instructions on the caliper to take the guesswork out of installing 'em and how to bleed the brakes. Now, back to the hub and rotors. They are a one-piece hub and rotor assembly, so that reduces the chance of uneven rotor wear. They do offer a vented design on 'em. Again, if you look right here, you'll be able to see the vents that go all the way around. This will dissipate heat faster, prevents any premature brake pad wear. Now, the fit on this again, this will fit the Dexter 8,000 pound axles with the number 42 spindle. It does use wheel sizes 16 inches and larger. We mentioned the bolt pattern, 8 on 6 1/2 inches. A wheel stud diameter of 9/16 inch, so it'll accept the included 9/16 lug nuts. Rotor diameter, 13 inches. And I wanted to mention this is designed to fit on a four-bolt brake flange configuration. If you look at the caliper mounting brackets, you'll see the four holes, so this will bolt to your four-bolt flange on your axle. But that should do it for a review on the DeeMaxx 13 inch Hub and Rotor Assembly Kit with the 8 on 6/12 inch bolt pattern, with the 9/16 inch studs for 8,000 pound axles.

  • Parts Needed To Convert Electric Drum Brakes To Disc Brakes
Hey Robert, thanks for getting in touch. You are definitely on the right track with the part numbers you mentioned. The # HBA16 actuator and # 20TA-BLKIT brake line kit can be used. Instead of the # HBA16, you may want to get part # HS381-9067 instead. This comes with the same actuator, along with a full install kit. So you get a 7-way plug, junction box, breakaway with battery, and all of the necessary wire and connectors. Then use that with the # 20TA-BLKIT brake line kit. For the...

  • Parts Needed to Convert 2022 Grand Design 3740BH to Electric Over Hydraulic Disc
Hey Jamie, you would need more than just the DeeMax Disc Brake Kit part # DE98AR. This would cover the hub/rotors and the components that install on the spindle of the axle but you'd everything else with the Hydrastar kit part # CAR-HBA16-2. This will give you the nicest actuator around that's super reliable and fast reacting as well as the needed brake lines and all other electrical components.
