Jeff: Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this Derale Series 8000 Plate Fin Transmission Cooler with the barb inlets. Now, one of the more popular cooling systems available, this radiator style plate and fin heat exchanger provides increased surface area so the fluids can spread out along the thin chambers to cool faster, helps prevent any heat related failures. This one has about 24 rows. Now, in addition to the increased surface area, this cooler also features on the ends here is turbulator technology whereby the fluids are agitated continuously not only to improve heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in the pressure.
So this transmission cooler will prolong the life of your transmission and improve its overall performance. This one is not designed specifically for vehicles with light model electronic overdrive transmissions. It is recommended for medium to full-sized cars, trucks, and SUVs with medium to light heavy duty use and consistent towing.A few specs on this, the inlets right up here, they are at 11/32 of an inch hose barb. This is designed for a gross vehicle weight rating of 22,500 pounds. And the last thing I want to do is give you some dimensions on this.
The overall width, from this end to this end, we put a ruler on it. You can see it's going to be right at 11 inches wide. The height from the very bottom to very top of the inlet right here is 11 3/4 inches tall. And the depth of the unit is only about 7/8 of an inch. Now the distance center to center between the inlets up here center to center right here, it's going to be right at 10 1/4 inches.
And then the mounting dimensions, you can see the mounting holes up here and right down here at the bottom.If we go, let me turn this to this back here, so if we go from the center holes to the top holes, center to center, you can see is going to be right at 10 1/2 inches tall. The width mounting holes can go from the smallest center to center's 5 1/2, largest is going to be 6 3/4. So you can see if we put that on there, center to center, here's your 5 1/2 inch. Center to center on the longer ones would be 6 3/4 inches.But that should do it for the review on the Derale series, 8,000 plate fin transmission cooler with the barb inlets.
