Wiring a trailer usually means finding and tapping into the right wires, but this harness skips that hassle. The Curt T-Connector plugs straight into your vehicle’s factory tail light connectors to give you a 4-flat trailer plug. No splicing, no wire chasing—just plug it in and it’s ready to go.
The harness connects directly behind the tail lights, so you don’t need to run wires all through the vehicle. Everything stays neat and close to existing wiring points, making installation fast and straightforward for most DIY setups.
The 4-flat output gives you what most trailers need—running lights, turn signals, and brake lights. It’s the standard connection for small trailers, boat haulers, and utility rigs, keeping things simple and dependable every time you tow.
Modern vehicles often use separate circuits for brake and turn signals, but the built-in converter takes care of that automatically. It syncs the vehicle’s lighting signals into a single output for the trailer so your lights work exactly as they should.

Today we're going to review part number C55414. This is the Curt T-Connector vehicle wiring harness with the 4-way flat trailer connector. This is a custom fit part, it is designed to fit the 2006 to 2010 Jeep Commanders without the factory 7-way and it does exclude the Rocky Mountain Edition version. On a custom fit part what I always recommend is to go to our website, use our fit guide. Put in your model vehicle and it'll show you if this will work for the application. This does provide a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your signal trailer lights. It does connect quickly and easily, there's no cutting or splicing of wires. I just use these plugin T-Connectors, and you'll just locate your connection points behind the taillights and plug these in. It does include this taillight converter, to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of your trailer. The converter is constructed using the SMT technology which is Surface Mount Technology.
This will give you a consistent, reliable performance. It'll maximize your trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat, and it also ensures superior operation in any rough road conditions. Also comes with this dust cap for the 4-way, so when you're not plugged in to your trailer you can use this dust cap, just install it on the 4-way, and put the dust cap over and that'll protect those terminals from any damage from the elements. This part is made in the USA, it does come with everything shown here. Comes with the harness, the dust cap, some cable ties to take up any length of the wiring, comes with a double face piece of tape that'll go onto your converter to hold that into place, a grounding screw, and then a nice set of detailed instructions with pictures. The specs on this. The maximum amperage on the stop and turn lights circuits are 3 amps per circuit, on the taillight circuit is 5 amps ...
Just real quickly, when you go to install this what you do is go to the back of the vehicle. The cargo area behind the taillight shell access, unplug the harness from the taillight. What you'll do is start on the driver's side and the T-Connectors that have the yellow wire in it, that will be for that driver's side. Once it's disconnected you'll plug this in between the taillight and the harness, plug them back in to this connector. You'll see it has a white wire on it with a I-LED on it, that's what you use this grounding screw for. If there's already a screw there that you can use, you can go ahead and do that.
If you need to make one just drill a hole using included grounding screw. Then these last set of T-Connectors that have the red and green wire, that's for the passenger's side and you'll see that's a length of wire so you'll run that over to the passenger's side, and do the same thing, unplug the harness from the taillights, plug this in between the harness and taillights. Then just run your length of bonded wire right here out to the back to the trailer, and plug it in to the 4-way when you're ready to use it, and when you're not just put the dust cap on it to store. Great product! It took me 30 minutes - if that - to install this in my 2006 Jeep Commander. It works perfect. This compared to a U-Haul installation that has been nothing but trouble for the last year. I ripped their mess out in 10 minutes. Wish I would have known about this product a year ago.

Product is working perfectly still has hauled alot of trailers
The old one on my Jeep was wire splice type. Stopped working. Just about every wire had a lot of corrosion. Ordered this one because of the factory type connectors. Simple to install.
Once I figured out how to remove the taillight assemblies it was very simple to install. The wire length between the light assemblies is perfect, no extra wire to get rid of and not to short. A couple extra zip ties would be nice as there is plenty of wire to the flat plug I will need to stash somewhere. Always better than not enough.
I did some research and etrailer was the best option for the price. I respect the fact that my selection was made in the USA. The delivery was prompt, and ordering made simple. You can watch the delivery progress by the tracking info they give you with your email order confirmation. I watched the etrailer video on how to do the install, which made it so easy to install. Watch out for those a little cheaper, because they are probably made in another country!
