This single Yakima FlushBar lets you replace a damaged crossbar or add another bar to your existing roof rack. The crossbar mounts to you roof with SmartFoot towers and a custom fit kit (sold separately), and it's designed to blend seamlessly with your vehicle's roof line. The crossbar offers plenty of space for mounting carriers and accessories, yet still provide that streamlined, from-the-factory appearance that you crave.
Aerodynamic Airfoil Design
Designed with the aerodynamic shape of an owl wing in mind, the FlushBar produces less drag - and therefore less noise - than any other roof-rack style on the market. But don't let the etowerant appearance and clean lines fool you - this crossbar is also sturdy and hard working so you can carry loads of gear. This means your vehicle will still look great inside and out.
The sleek, airfoil-style FlushBar is shaped like a tapered wing. This lightweight aluminum bar has been shown to reduce drag by up to 70 percent when compared with round and square bars. It do this by putting the air back together quickly after it passes over and under the crossbar. This practically eliminates the buzzing and humming associated with standard roof racks - no fairing required. Because this bar produces less drag, the gas mileage of your vehicle will be far less affected than it is with other crossbars. And because it's constructed of corrosion-resistant, lightweight aluminum, you never have to worry about it rusting or affecting the load-carrying capacity of your roof.
Built-in Channels with Push-Down Access
The built-in channel includes a soft rubber strip that can be pushed down into the channel when you mount accessories, so you don't have to cut or trim it as you would with other slotted crossbars. And this means you'll likely never have to buy replacement strips.
Easy Installation with SmartFoot Technology
This premium crossbar includes innovative SmartFoot technology - a mounting system on the towers that lets you use the crossbar with multiple FlushBar fit kit styles. The custom fit kit (sold separately) ensures quick and easy installation on your roof, and the versatile SmartFoot tower allows you to use the crossbar on different yet similarly sized applications - just swap out the fit kit.
Once you've installed the fit kit, you must position the bar correctly on your roof. To center the bar, remove the covers from the towers, press the adjustment screws, and slide the crossbar in and out of the towers as needed until it's centered on your roof. When the correct position is achieved, simply tighten the adjustment screws with the included tool.
The SmartFoot towers are constructed of glass-filled plastic that is strong, rigid, and UV and impact resistant. These towers pivot slightly to accommodate the curve of your roof and ensure that the bar is level.
Same Key System Locks
The crossbar is compatible with Yakima SKS lock cores (Y07202 - sold separately) that allow you to secure the rack to your roof. These locks can help prevent theft of the crossbar by ensuring that it cannot be detached from your vehicle. And the locks keep your channel-mounted carriers and accessories safe by denying would-be thieves access to the built-in top slot. The SKS locks are all keyed alike so a single key opens all the locks. The locks can also be swapped out to make all of your Yakima products keyed alike.

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima FlushBar crossbar. This half-kit lets you replace a damaged crossbar or add another bar to an existing rack on your vehicle's roof. You're going to get one bar with this part number. It's going to feature the nice ultra-quiet factory-style bar that is going to let you mount carriers and accessories on the roof of your vehicle. This is designed to work with raised factory side rails, track systems, and permanent-mount applications. It does require a Yakima fit kit.
Fit kits are sold separately. They simply install here at the bottom of the tower. You can check out etrailer.com for some options. This is a really nice aerodynamic bar that's sleek, highly functional, and extremely quiet. It's going to feature this tapered wing shape that dramatically reduces wind noise and vibrations. The crossbar will accommodate accessories that either mount right here in the built-in channel or clamp around the bars.
If you're going to do channel-mount accessories, you just have to remove this cover right here, and then you can slide the accessory in and adjust it wherever you need it. It's going to feature the innovative SmartFoot towers that ensure quick and easy installation on your roof. Also want to point out that this is a durable rubber strip that fills that channel. No cutting or trimming needed. That's set in there, so your accessory will push down on that. Then you can slide it where you need it.
Then that strip absorbs around that anchor point to maintain aerodynamic design, as well as a nice quiet ride as you travel down the road. Now again, it's going to have the SmartFoot towers. These are compatible with same-key system locks that allow you to secure the rack to your vehicle roof. SKS locks are sold separately and available at etrailer.com. The bar itself is an aluminum construction, so it's very lightweight and corrosion-resistant. It's going to feature the glass-filled plastic towers.
Those are strong, rigid, and UV and impact-resistant. Then the bar itself has a nice satin chrome finish that's very durable. It also looks really good on these particular bars. Now this bar is available in a variety of lengths. You can check out all the options at etrailer.com. I do want to point out that on the bottom you're going to notice these notches on each side. These allow you to make fine-tune adjustments to each tower. That way you can really get the exact length that you need for your vehicle. When it comes to the dimensions of the bar, again, all the lengths that we offer are available at etrailer.com, but the overall width is about 3-5/16" wide. Then the thickest point of the bar measures about 1" thick. It's also going to be covered with a limited lifetime warranty. That's going to do it for today's look at the Yakima FlushBar crossbar.
Great Product, expensive but worth every penny.
Lightweight, easy to install, no overhang. Everything I was looking for in roof rails for my truck canopy.
A spring inside the length adjustment mechanism was improperly installed. I had to disassemble the part repair the spring and reassemble. Poor quality control.
These roof racks fit nicely to my Audi Allroad station wagon. I am quite pleased with the appearance--now I can easily find my car in crowded parking lots!
I should caution anyone who chooses to install this set themselves: There are many parts needing careful assembly. Even though a mechanical engineer I found the process confusing and difficult.
After doing some research decided to go with the Yakima roof rack setup for our VW Atlas. Love the look and functionality of it all. Got the SUPDawg paddle board carrier to go with it. Love the locking capability for piece of mind when leaving boards unattended. We are VERY happy with our choice. Drove on highway with two paddle boards and it all went smoothly with zero wind noise whatsoever. Definitely worth every penny. Will recommend.

I like the Yakima product I ordered and I think it looks great on the 4Runner. It was easy to install with the exception of one confusing piece of the instruction. It was not clear in the fit kit instruction manual what was being referred to adjust the spacing of the foot piece now attached to the bar (in Step 2 of installation). Love the new cargo rack cross bars from Yakima for my 2014 Audi Allroad. I had looked at some other brands that were cheaper, but these looked and felt better to me when I looked at them in a local off road specialty shop nearby. Also, I had an old set of yakima crossbars from an older car I got rid of, so I was able to use the key and locks on this new set of cross bars...bonus! As always, the best price I found was from etrailer.com.
