Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Video Transcript for ProGrip Ratchet Tie-Down Strap Review

Randy: Hey guys, Randy here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look at a set of four straps that come from ProGrip. Now these are going to be one inch wide and we've got the total 10 feet in length. These are going to be really ideal for securing lots of items down to trailers, maybe in enclosed trailers, things like that. Up to a point of course, these are kind of lighter duty straps. The strap material itself is going to be on the thinner side of what you see, but with a 300 pounds safe working load limit, we're not asking this strap to do the same job we would on a 3,300 pound working low limit strap.

Overall, the construction of our handle's going to be nice, right in line with your lighter duty straps, not super thick, but also not thin and I don't really feel any flex or anything to it when we try to squeeze it. See they've got the yellow zinc finish on there. Keep corrosion to a minimum for a long time to come and there's even a bottle opener here on the front, if you want to pop it in there, pop the top off.We do have a lock position, as you see when we do the install, some of these, I like this tuck our strap right in there and then just close that down. A little bit of pressure holds it in place. That'll keep it from backing off and we've got a lever to push here, when we went to release our handle, bring that all the way up and open.

That will allow that to come open. No longer are we going to have to try to reach in here and get it to release. When we full open, it goes, relax we can pull our strap out and then just simply ham it down and pull on your lever to tighten it back up.Now the hooks themselves are going to be fully rubber coated. Anytime we're on anything that's more sensitive of course, our trailer, we don't care about too much, but when other items you might not want them to get damaged, you might not want them to get scratched, so it's going to offer good protection. The only thing with these hooks that I would maybe like to see would be a keeper on them.

A lot of time with the stress, but you don't see keepers on all of them but they can kind of fall off when you're working. I think if they put a keeper on there, it'd just be a nice upgrade. Now to install your strap, I generally start with them in two pieces. You can use them connected as one piece, but you'll just go around whatever item it is you're going to be securing down and in place. Once I get my hook on, I like to make sure my strap is straight. As I put on my ratchet handle, I want to feed it in straight just so it's not twisted up.

We want to open our ratchet handle up all the way. We're going to start by looking at the back of it so it closes this way, so we'll bring our tag end through, and then we just want to loop that back and go through the opening on the top there. That's going to allow us to hook up our strap and then pull that slack out. Once the slack's out, that's when we're going to use our ratchet handle then it'll start cinching down. Now, we're just going to tidy up our strap a little bit here. Some people use hook and loop strips to go around these and hold them in place, but generally is thin is what this material is, folded over like that we should be able to stick it back through our ratchet handle, like that. Push that down and close so it won't come up. Now with that nice and tight, we'll want to go to the other side and get it secured there as well. We always recommend the use of ratchet straps in pairs. Of course with the weight limit that these have two or three, would be appropriate for an ATV. Three or four is what you're going to need on your UTV, but outside of that stripe, once you get them strapped down nice and tight, you'll be ready to hit the road.

Perfect straps for those light loads in the truck bed or trailer. It's nice having these so I don't have to drag out the large ratch straps. Great product!
