Note: This dual-arm rack reduces the need for a bike frame adapter bar (sold separately) to mount a children's, women's, or alternative frame bicycle. However, to mount certain bikes or to keep your bike level on the rack, a bike adapter bar may be required. Most step-through bikes, dual-suspension bikes, and small children's bikes will require a bike adapter bar.
This hitch-mounted bike rack lets you securely transport up to 4 bikes on the back of your vehicle. Its tapered dual arms provide excellent support for adult and child-size bikes. The anti-sway cradles securely hold your bikes during transport. Plus, the rack tilts away from your vehicle for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.
The tapered dual arms on this rack are ideal for securely carrying bikes for the whole family. The arms are 14" apart near the mast for carrying mom's and dad's bikes. The spacing between the arms then narrows to 8" at the end of the rack, making it easier to carry the kids' bikes. Because children's bikes have small frames, they often require the use of a bike frame adapter bar to span the width of dual-arm bike racks. Because the arms on this rack narrow at the end, a child-size bike will fit without the need for an adapter.
When you're not carrying bikes, simply remove the tethered bail pin to fold the arms down. This folding design allows you to leave the carrier mounted on your vehicle when it's not in use.
Anti-sway cradles with rubber straps help to hold your bikes securely on the rack. The straps secure each bike frame to the cradles in 3 spots - 2 on the top tube and 1 on the downtube - to help prevent bike-to-bike and bike-to-car contact. And, the cradles rotate to grab your bike frames at optimal angles. Grooves in the cradles keep your brake lines from getting twisted or pinched.
Getting into your rear cargo area is easy. Remove the tethered bail pin at the base of the rack. Then lift the spring-loaded, T-shaped handle on the back of the mast to release the rack from its upright position.
A horizontal bar at the base keeps the mast from pivoting too far forward and holds it in place while you access your cargo area. When you raise the mast back up, the T-shaped handle will snap back into place. Then simply reinsert the pin and clip to secure the mast in its upright position.
A built-in rung on the back of the upright mast provides an anchor point for a stabilizing strap or cable lock (each sold separately) to keep your bikes' handlebars and wheels from moving during transport. Simply thread the strap through the rung and through your bikes' wheels to immobilize them. You can also use a cable lock in conjunction with the stablizing strap to secure your bikes to the rack.
The included threaded hitch pin helps to keep the rack from moving and rattling around inside of your vehicle's hitch by pulling the shank tight to the side of the receiver.

Tilting mast lets you access cargo area. Anti-wobble hitch pin included. The bike rack is great. It was easy to put together, and it is very silent when driving around, with or without bikes on it. The fold-away feature is great for getting into the back of my car without taking the hitch off. Despite the moving parts it doesn’t rattle or shake. The rubber straps are nice to use, much easier than plastic straps or metal clamps. See the photo below of it installed on my 2016 Subaru Outback; license plate edited out. Highly recommended.
Took the bike rack off the pedestal and welded a receiver onto the pedestal. Then put a receiver cargo rack into the receiver. This setup is then mounted into the receiver hitch in the back of my 20 ft RV motor home. Worked great. My stuff in the cargo rack is off the road, I can still parallel park the RV in city parking spaces, backing up is a little easier because I don’t have to worry as much about the cargo rack hitting something. Anybody need an additional rack for the bikes.
Wow a year already! Bike rack works well. I paired it with a Yakima side swivel unit to work with my FJCruiser and another larger SUV we own. Sturdy unit. ONLY complaint is that the rubber bicycle tie down straps supplied have already ripped. Not a very good quality rubber or rubber composite.
I am very happy with the quality and operation of this bike rack! This is a high quality, solidly built product. Although I normally only carry one bike, I specifically decided to purchase this model because the hitch insert is 2-inch solid steel. Many other racks are designed to fit both 1/1/4" and 2-inch hitches, but to do so, they have an adapter sleeve, which tends to be more prone to wobbling and wear. This rack, made for 2-inch hitches only, eliminates that problem. My first trip with it was 60-mile roundtrip, and it was rock-steady on highways, back roads, and gravel surfaces. It was very easy to assemble (minimal assembly required) and installation was a breeze. I like the triangular saddles that are adaptable to accommodate a wide range of bikes. Each of the saddles has six available attachment points for the straps, making it easy to secure your bikes. For me, this bike rack was a great choice, and as always, etrailer is super fast in order processing, fulfillment, and follow-up.
This Curt bike carrier is ideal for my front hitch that I recently installed on my 2005 GMC. I had to remove my front tag holder for clearance but it works perfectley. It can be easily removed and installed on the back hitch when I'm not towing my camper. This is a well built and solid bike carrier. It was delivered very timely and well packaged.
After less than one year, and only 5 or 6 uses, the threaded stabilizer--the one just below the spring-loaded, T-shaped handle used for tilting the mast--stripped out the hole it passes through in the body of the rack. Now my rack wobbles like crazy. I'm still within the warranty period, but in order to get it fixed, I have to return the entire bike rack and cover the return shipping . I'll just keep the broken rack and find a way to deal with the issue. Hopefully you have a better experience than me.
Overall it fits all 4 bikes somewhat easily (depending on the bikes). Two adult bikes and 2 kids bikes need a little bit of maneuvering to get on/off. The bike rack does wobble quite a bit in the car hitch which is disappointing, no matter how tight we make the bolt. Unsure what the problem is though.
I would rate this product a four out of five. It's secure, but it's too difficult to load four bikes. I'm assuming it can be done, but it will take some extra work. Overall, I would recommend it if the two other bikes are for children.
Easy to install, nice and sturdy. My only complaint is that the blocks that the bikes sit on are bulky and hard to move. Depending on the frame of the bike it can be a challenge to get it on the rack and sitting on the blocks.
Thank you for your review. If you are needing to reposition the cradles then I would use soapy water. These are typically hard to move so that it does not happen during travel.
--1 year in and this has been a great purchase. The bike rack works exactly as advertised and provides solid transport for our 2 adult bikes and 2 kid bikes. We had great service from the folks at eTrailer as well at the time of purchase and for the accessories. Highly recommend both the bike rack and eTrailer.
I will adjust my review after our family vacation I'd necessary. For now the Curt bike rack seems sturdy, is easy to mount and stow bikes. Assembly was quick and simple. Fitting 4 bikes was a simple challenge but easily accomplished.
Easy to assemble, fits securely and works well!
the issue was that the piece that already broke on it and unfortunately it’s stripped and the only way to replace it is to replace the whole unit and it’s just an inconvenience for me to have to ship that out,
After owning this rack for a year, I’m mostly happy with it. It’s getting the job done if only 3 out of 4 of us ride together, but I find the following less than stellar: The cradles are really hard to move/align - as a result once my kids started riding full sized bikes, I still needed to leave one of my roof racks installed. There is always a wobble to the upright post - the tiny thumb screw that’s supposed to snug it up tight doesn’t stay tight.
Holds 2 adult bikes well, I really like it. Kid's bike (16" wheels) does not fit, but luckily the kids bike fits a back seat of my car. Also, it makes opening SUV rear gate more difficult.
Overall a good made bike rack
Easy to use and to load 4 bikes. Even our son's bike that has a shock absorber in the center of the bike frame.
Fit perfectly. The website provides matches based on the vehicle type and I have to say it worked perfectly so far. Thank You !! I will use this company again.
We love this bike rack and use it all the time! The titling option is key with our Yukon back lift door. We have been from Texas to Breckinridge numerous times with the rack, and every time it has been a success. Very well made, and works great for 2 kids bikes and 2 adult bikes.
This rack is much better quality than I expected for the price. Made of very heavy steel and with adjustable pads and straps to fit 4 bikes, it seems like the perfect budget-friendly hitch carrier. The giant Curt sticker was easily removed also.
Very well made! When mounted it is very sturdy. Before I purchased I had looked at some of my friends hitch racks and they seemed " too flimsy". I met a a guy that had one of these Curt hitches on his truck and I could tell it was what I wanted. You can tell the difference when you pick up this hitch compared to the cheaper versions that weigh half as much! I couldn't see mounting my bike and my wife's bike on a cheap hitch and worrying about it falling off! Glad I bought this hitch and guys @ etrailer are great to talk to!
Well constructed and sturdy. We've used this rack several times on trips with good success.
I've been using the hitch and bike rack for over a year, no problems. Installation was simple and the instructions (and video on eTrailer) were spot on.
It's inexpensive for a 4 bike rack. However the support blocks the bikes rest on a bulky and awkward. You will struggle to 'slide' smaller size frames and kids bikes onto the arms. The more expensive racks have much more convenient tilt feature but for the price this is a decent rack.
Installation on my 2012 Odyssey. I thought these pics may be helpful.
