Video Transcript for Camco Power Grip Marine-Style Power Cord Adapter with Handle Review

Adam: What's going on, everybody Adam here with etrailer. Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Power Grip RV Marine Style, 50-amp Power Cord Adapter. This is going to be a cord. It's going to be about 25 foot long. We are going to have a 50-amp male and female end. We'll start with the female end.

As you can see here, we're going to have three different connections here: one flat, and then two not flat. And then, we're going to have a little fourth connection point here, and this is going to be our second ground. What we're going to do is, of course, just figure out what kind of hookup you have. Today, we actually have a hookup on the RV. And one thing that I do like about this, we don't have a carrying case, but it comes with this little strap.

It's nifty. So, whenever we're done using it, we don't want to hassle with the bag. You just wrap this around. So, that's really nice. One thing I like about this is we are going to have to twist lock, so it's not just completely smooth all the way around. It has a couple different letters and such on the back letting you know what's lock and what's not.

We are going to have a threaded lock on here just to keep a lot of that moisture out and make sure we have a clean connection. The plug that we're going to be looking for is going to be a 50-amp plug. If you have one that looks similar to this, it has the three prongs, but has two flat prongs, that's a 30 amp. We don't want to use it with that because it won't work. We want to have these three prongs here, two little tabs, and then, this third or fourth little connection here, and that's going to connect to the ground side connector on.Now, just go ahead, take your cord, try to line it up the best you can.

Get it put into place, push it in, and we're going to twist it to lock it into place. And then, we'll take this threaded portion here just to make sure it's going to stay nice and tight. It's got plenty of grips on it, which makes it really easy to get it all threaded down. It's also going to be easy and make it easy for all that water to stay out of there. So, that is that. Now, we're going to take the remaining 25 foot of the cord and go and hook it up to our generator. Now, at the other end of the 25-foot cord, we're going to have a male 50 amp, and it has a really nice easy-pull lever. I like that a lot because it's going to be really easy to put it in and pull it out without really putting a lot of strain and stress on these prongs. There are high quality prongs, and we do have a nice 90-degree angle, so that's going to help relieve a lot of stress off these prongs. But the handle definitely helps not only relieving stress on your hands, but also, making sure that this is going to stay nice and sturdy over time. We are using a generator, and this is the plug we're going to be using. As you can see, it goes in there really nicely. Very, very easy to go in and out because of the handle. But what we're going to do is go and fire up the generator. And then, once it gets up to speed and it's pushing out the right amount of power, then we're going to plug everything in just to make sure we don't short any appliances of any sort of power. Let's go ahead and do that. I can already hear my refrigerator running. So, that is fantastic, and the lights are working. We got power, but it is hot in here. And since we have that 50-amp cord, we have plenty of power to be able to power of our AC units. Let's turn this on so we can cool down. Oh yeah. Much better. All right. So, everything worked great. The length was perfect. I do think that the 25 or 30-foot cord is going to be the best. It's not going to be too difficult to wind up. To be honest, this is a pretty malleable cord. And especially if you plan on maybe dragging it on rock or concrete like here, we do have a really, really thick coating on it, so I do think it's going to hold up against that over time. And in regards to how you're really going to live with it, it does have a lot of metal on the inside of it, so it is going to be a little bit more difficult to get it coiled up right. But I think between you just taking the time to do it and this little handle here, it's going to help keep it nice and in place.I just like using cords that allow my RV to run on what it's supposed to. It is a 50-amp plug here, so we're not shorting anything on the inside of our RV. But when it comes to a lot of the random RV parks that you're at, we've been to a couple, and you really don't know what to expect sometimes. If you've never really been there, sometimes, the plugs don't work. They're not really putting out a whole. The right amount of power, and or they're just not there being used by someone else. So, having a bunch of different adapters is always a plus. Yes, we're going to lose full capacity of the RV. We're not going to be able to give everything 50 amps if we do use a converter to use it with a 30-amp plug. We're going to lose a little bit. That's why I like just using a cord that works. But have a couple of adapters on-hand just to avoid that situation so you can at least get power because that's what it really comes down to. It's going to be extremely difficult to really enjoy your time if you don't really have any power. Yes, we can run some stuff off of propane gas or something like that, but having the right power cord's one thing, but adapters is really important as well. Luckily, we could use the generator today to get everything powered properly, and everything was working great. But all in all, it condenses down pretty nicely. It really didn't take me a whole lot of time, wasn't too difficult, didn't give me a whole lot of trouble. I've had garden hoses give me more trouble than this. So, I definitely think it's going to be easy to find a nice storage space for it in all the different spaces we have on the RV. Well, everyone that just about does it for a look at the Power Grip RV Marine Style Power Cord, and I'm Adam with etrailer.

Great products, constructed from quality materials, items were as advertised and promised, delivered on time

by:

The Product was exactly what I had expected. It came quicker than I thought it would with Free Shipping. Will defintely be doing more Business with this Company. Thanks

by:

Just received the adapter and haven't had a chance to use it yet. But I've wanted one of these for a long time now as the 50 amp plug sticks straight out from the receptacle. Always thought this was a dumb design as it puts a lot of stress on the plug and cord. The prices are starting to look more attractive so I decided to bite the bullet and get one.

by:

Works just as it should. Now I can use my 30 amp extension cord with my 5th wheel when I am at a campsite or storage that does not have 50 amp connections. The adapter arrived just a promised and the customer service was outstanding. I will order from etrailer again.

by:

This extension has been a game saver on a couple occasions. There have been a couple of parks where the extension has come in handy. Well made lives up to its expectations. A must have.

by:

Just what I needed to take the stress off of my trailer electrical hookup. Heavy duty and well made.

by:

good product and received in a timely manner. Just wish they made them about 6" longer. Was covered in dust...must have been stored in the shed out back...lol.

This product is answer to my dreams. Have a 37' Pace Arrow which had a 3.5k generator which was only capable of running one a cat a time. Generator died and I quickly found out generator repair people are rarer than Amish electricians. Bought a 7k generator and was arranging to pay an electrician to wire it in to rv when I discoveees this incredible connection. It twists in to 120/240 outlet on generator and accepts 4 prong rv cord. GREAT!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Turned on both ac's for first time since I owned rv, (over 10 yrs). Within mins rv was cool and I have enough power for another rv. This thing is great. I highly recommend to anyone with an rv with a small generator or generator in need of repair, go buy a 7k running amp generator and this plug and you're set with plenty of electrical power. Also, the quality and durability of this part is suprisingly amazing. You can easily run over this plug with your rv and not phase it. BUY ONE. This will be the best rv purchase you can make. Thank you ETRAILER for a great product worth twice the price easily. Will be ordering another one for a friend soon. 5??

by:

This does all that I hoped for. It’s a solid connection to the 5th wheel. It doesn’t torque the connection with the weight of the cord sticking straight out,

by:

I bought it to provide strain relief for my RV power cord. It works well, except the locking ring can be frustrating (sticky and/or cross threading).

by:

Works as advertised. Already used several times because the electrical panel was to far.

by:

Great service trailer has never let me down quick easy affordable

by:

The elbow connector is doing it’s job. Much easier to connect to the side of our travel trailer than the straight cord connection that came with it. Extends the original cord by 2 feet and relieves the stress on the connection on the side of the trailer. Working well

by:

Perfect for securing bicycles. Lock and key are made well and easy on and off

by:

I got this to take the stress off the connections from the hose diameter 50 amp cord. It appears to be very heavy duty and it's nice to have the cord drop straight down instead of sticking straight out and then curving down.

by:

Comes in handy when no 50 amp plug.

by:

This trailer plug is what everyone needs if you have 50 amp camper plug and if you go to a camping site that has 30 amp service with this plug you can get 45 amps of service. so I can run both my AC units at the same time. Very well made. Heavy Duty. Thank you E-Trailer!!!

by:

I have purchased from etrailer several times. I have never been disappointed as the parts ordered arrive typically early and without issue. I will keep coming back. You guys rock.

by:

Works great can run both air conditione rs

by:

The adapter was exactly what I needed. The package arrived 2 days prior to the estimated delivery date. I have always been impressed with the service.

by:

As full timers we got the power grip because we had noticed that the heavy 50 AMP power cord was putting extra wear on the power inlet on the trailer. The solution was this power grip adapter! It is as easy to use the our current cord, and with the 90 degree offset the extra strain on the power input was gone. I would buy again, and recommend it for anyone that is look to keep the power cord and trailer in the best shape for continuing use, with the least amount of work.

by:

Works great to eliminate strain/torque on the power cord at the trailer connection.Exactly what I needed.

by:

WORKS GOOD ON THE POWER CORD

by:

great price, shipped fast and well made etrailer is the place to go for the right parts at the right price been using them for years because of this.

by:

LIKE THIS PLUG. ALOT EASIER TO USE. IT ALSO HANGS MUCH BETTER THAN THE OTHER KIND
