Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Marshall Excelsior Company high-flow propane pigtail hose. So this pigtail hose is the connection between an RV propane cylinder and your regulator. And what makes this one different from a typical pigtail is that it has a higher flow capacity. This can support up to 400,000 BTU per hour.
So it's designed for RV propane systems with higher fuel demands where a standard pigtail could potentially become a restriction. So this is going to be about 20 inches long and this is a high-pressure thermoplastic hose with a quarter of an inch inside diameter and a working pressure of 350 PSIG. On the propane tank side, you have this female type 1 QCC Acme connection. And on the regulator side, there is a quarter of an inch male NPT fitting. So the regulator will need a compatible quarter of an inch female NPT inlet.
One of the main reasons to consider this hose is if you have higher-demand propane equipment and you need to make sure that the pigtail isn't limiting the amount of propane reaching the regulator. This is going to provide up to 400,000 BT per hour of flow, as I mentioned, between the cylinder and the regulator. There's also a couple of built-in safety features worth knowing about. The excess flow protection is designed to restrict propane flow if something downstream fails and causes an abnormally high amount of propane to escape. And there's also a thermal link at the cylinder connection.
That's going to help provide an additional safeguard if that connection is exposed to extreme heat or fire.
