Quick Disconnect Fitting Diagram

Make camping more fun and relaxing. Moving your 5th-wheel camper or travel trailer once you've gotten settled at the campsite is a real chore. No one wants to have to pack up, unplug, and go refill the propane cylinders, just to come back to the site and set everything up all over again. This Sturgi-Stay T-fitting lets you connect an auxiliary cylinder to your setup using a quick-disconnect fill hose (sold separately). As a result, you can run your appliances off of the propane in the cylinder rather than using up the LP gas from your trailer's setup. When you run out, just refill the auxiliary cylinder and hook it up again.

The disposable cylinder port on the Sturgi-Stay provides a connection point for a small, portable appliance or propane tree. This way you can power a grill, heater, or other accessory without needing to use a 1-lb throwaway cylinder. Simply attach an adapter hose (sold separately) to your appliance and then to the disposable cylinder port on the T-fitting.

Quick Disconnect Port

QDs

The Sturgi-Stay features a quick-disconnect port that connects to the fill hose (sold separately) from your auxiliary cylinder. This quick-disconnect port lets you connect and disconnect a hose without any tools. Simply snap the quick-disconnect hose into the port and it will stay locked in until you release it. To remove the hose, just pull back on the collar of the port. The port also features a gas shut-off lever that allows you to completely cut off the propane supply to that port to keep gas contained when no hose is attached. Be sure to move the lever to the "off" position before disconnecting the hose.

These Sturgi-Stays work well for expanding a RV propane distribution system without being limited to regulator BTU/H limit. We put one on both our RV propane tanks. Details of this RV modification and many others may be found here if interested:

Is exactly what I was looking for.
My
grill has a regulator, so connecting to the quick connect on my trailer does not work. Now I can quick connect without having to modify my grill.

Excellent presales support in answering all of my questions. Products worked as decribed. I use these product to connect my portable grill to the 30 lb LP tank on my 5th wheel, rather than use disposable LP bottles.

by:

This a great valve for adding a BBQ grill directly off the propane tank in your trailer. It works as described and its easy to install.

Arrived as described. Disappointed to discover that etrailer.com does not carry mounting brackets for their regulators, but I welcomed the opportunity to dust off my diy skills. Note the bailing wire. Super pro! Also, if anyone knows what happens when one uses a vertical regulator horizontally, I'm all ears.

by:

This unit does what it says it will however I think there is room for improvement. To use this system you need three wrenches on hand. A 7/8 for the hose to the gas cylinder, a 1/2" for removing the plug from the fitting and a 7/16 for the hose to the fitting connection. Why not make them both 7/16"? When you remove the hose you need to be very careful not to allow the ends to hit the dirt, why not have little caps on both ends to keep them clean when not in use. Again, it works but engineering wise could use some work for the price. This allowed us to use 20lb cylinders that cost 3.45 per gallon to fill vs 3.65 and moving the rig everytime the big tank got low.

by:

I ordered this to save money on the 1 lb green tanks. Well it worked great for the first 10 months! It leaks around the on and off valves!! So I removed it before we had a bigger issue as this was connected to my propane tank under my Class A Motorhome.

by:

I've had these on my other RVs. Be careful and check for leaks, usualy around the valve stems. They claim they are rated up to 250psi but the fittings are marked at only 1/2psi. Whats up with that?

by:

The problem I was having was orange flame on the stove. Looking on line it said that was caused by a defective propane regulator. We were using a humidifier, with the humidifier turn on we got orange flames with the humidifier turned off blue flames.

  • Recommended Propane Adapter for a 20 lb Tank With Quick Disconnect
The closest I was able to find to what you're looking for is the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting - Type 1 Valve - Quick Disconnect and Disposable Cylinder Ports # 103613-MBS. This adapter has a type 1 cylinder connect port for your 20 lb tank, a quick disconnect port and a disposable cylinder port for smaller appliances.

  • Is It Possible to Supply Propane to Grill that Has Regulator from RV Propane Tanks
There isn't a great way to do what you are looking for but if you install a tee between your propane source and regulator like with the part # 103613-MBS you can access the higher pressure propane your grill needs. So from there it would be a matter of matching up the propane fitting/connector on your grill so that we can get you propane from the tee directly to the grill.

  • Connecting Blackstone Tailgater to 5th Wheel Propane System
For your grill, you normally wouldn't use an additional regulator and would just use the high pressure system since you have the flame adjustment knobs to regulate your output. You can use the MB Sturgis Quick Disconnect Propane Adapter Fitting - Male Model 250 x 1/4" MPT # 401132-MBS to connect to the grill itself. Then use MB Sturgis Dual Quick Disconnect Propane Hose for Small Appliance - 10' # 100395-120-MBS to connect to Tee # 103613-MBS.

  • Does the 1 Port Of The MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting Have A On and Off Lever
You certainly can use the disposable 1" cylinder port of the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting part # 103613-MBS to plug in your grill. Once you plug the grill in the port will let out propane to supply your grill. It does not have a turn on or off lever like the quick-disconnect hose port on the T-fitting. You should always have the cap on the 1" port when not in use when using the other connections.

  • Recommendation For Propane For RV Water Heater With Quick Disconnect
Based on your information, you will need to connect a propane tee off of one of your propane tanks before the regulator like the MB Sturgis Propane Tee, Item # 103613-MBS. You will use this tee to run a connection to your grill/small appliances. What hose and/or fittings you need for your grill connection will depend on whether or not you have a regulator already with your grill. After that, you will need a 2-stage regulator with automatic changeover like the Camco Automatic Changeover...

  • Can I Feed RV Appliances Propane Through Quick Disconnect T-Fitting From Auxiliary Tank
If you have a T-fitting with quick disconnect port like on the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting for Type 1 Valve Quick Disconnect and Disposable Cylinder Ports part # 103613-MBS you can back feed the propane from your auxiliary cylinder into your R.V appliances from the quick disconnect port because it doesn't have a back check. The other ports have a back check like the Type 1 port. I recommend to use the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting part # 103613-MBS with the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay...

  • How Does the MB Sturgis Quick Disconnect Propane Hose # 100476-120-MBS Install on a Camper
The MB Sturgis Quick Disconnect Propane Hose for Small Appliance # 100476-120-MBS will install on a T-Fitting before the regulator on the camper side. Some campers already have the T-Fitting installed so if this is the case you will be good to go. If your camper does not already have a T-Fitting installed before the regulator on the camper you can simply install the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting for Type 1 Valve # 103613-MBS. This will help you avoid running your propane through 2 regulators...

  • Can Quick Disconnects be Installed Before Regulator
Yes, you can install quick disconnects before a regulator by using a tee. The right one will depend on if you have a Type 1 valve (typically on trailer propane tanks) or POL (which is typically on motorhomes). For example, there is the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting for Type 1 Valve - Quick Disconnect and Disposable Cylinder Ports # 103613-MBS or the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting for POL Valve - 2 Model 250 Quick Disconnect Ports # 103537-MBS. In order to connect your Coleman appliance using the MB Sturgis Quick Disconnect Propane Hose # 100476-120-MBS, you're going to need to use a T-Fitting like the MB Sturgis # 103613-MBS. • Connecting Coleman Roadtrip X-Cursion Propane Grill to Trailer's Propane Tanks
I think we have what you need. The hose you looked at, part # 100476-48-MBS, has the correct connectors. It's the quick disconnect to go onto your trailer's fitting and the disposable cylinder fitting which is what your grill uses. The problem is your trailer's built in connector is already regulated and so is your grill. That's a problem because you can't go through two regulators. You won't have enough pressure to use your the Coleman. You can use that hose if you Tee into your system...

You mentioned the hose, but you can add a length with a shut-off like the Camco Quick-Connect to Quick-Connect Propane Hose - 3' Long # CAM57280. To add a second appliance, a T-connection at that location will not work well. You instead will want to run a T-fitting earlier in your system and then run another hose for your grill.
