  • MB Sturgis

Type 1 connector lets you attach a propane regulator to your propane tank. Connector hand-tightens onto the tank while the male NPT threads attach to a regulator or supply hose. Safety valves stop flow in case of leaks or high heat.

Features:

  • Cylinder connector lets you hook up a hose to the LP cylinder on your RV
    • High flow rate lets you supply gas to multiple appliances at once
  • Type 1 ACME fitting attaches to your cylinder propane tank
  • 1/4" Male NPT connects to your regulator or hose
  • Built-in safety features shut gas off in potentially hazardous situations
    • Thermal shut-off device turns off gas flow in extreme heat caused by open flame
    • Excess-flow bypass mode stops gas flow in the event of a severe leak
  • Durable brass fittings approved for LP gas only
    • ANSI Z21.81 and CSA certified
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Fitting size: Type 1 cylinder connection x 1/4" male NPT
  • Temperature range: -40 F to 250 F
  • Maximum flow capacity: 450,000 Btu per hour
  • 1-Year limited warranty

Bypass Mode for Safety

This Type 1 connector will go into bypass mode if the flow rate surpasses the maximum flow capacity for this connector, which is 450,000 Btu per hour. A ball inside of the fitting will push an internal spring down, pressing firmly against the bottom of the fitting to shut off the flow of gas.

When choosing a Type 1 connector, consider your overall propane demands and choose a connector with a flow rate that just exceeds it. That way, you won't trigger the bypass mode during normal use, but it will trigger in the event of a leak. If the bypass valve engages, stop using gas and start checking your connections for leaks.

Video Transcript for Comprehensive Review: MB Sturgis Type 1 Propane Tank Connector

Today we're going to be taking a look at the MB Sturgis propane cylinder connector. The dark green type one is used to connect an RV LP cylinder to a high-pressure hose feeding the two stage regulator. This eliminates the need for wrenches and features a thermal shut-off and excess flow device. Maximum output or flow capacity is 200,000 btu's per hour. The unit provides the highest flow rate possible before going into bypass mode, allowing the maximum gas flow to power the coach appliances. The type one has a built in back check to ensure the system does not allow a back-flow gas leak when an automatic changeover regulator is improperly used. The other end features a quarter inch MNPT, which stands for male national pipe thread.

The unit features a temperature range of negative 40 degrees Fahrenheit up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and this unit is certified for use in the USA and Canada. It's to be used for LP gas only. That's going to do it for today's look at the MB Sturgis propane cylinder connector.

This was a repair part/replacement for my deep fryer. Easy to order, fast delivery, works great! fryer/burner hasn't worked this good in a long time!

by:

Looks well made. Says USA. Unlike the land of close enough, it has plenty of thread length on the NPT side.

by:

Works fine as stated however 1/4" MNPT threads were poorly cut and a bit over-sized.

by:

Still working great and so much easier than the old fitting to get on and off! Such a difference! Glad l bought it!

Shipping speed was great. It was delivered right on time to go on a camping trip with our a-frame camper. Seems to be made of good quality brass, no issues with propane flow. This allowed me to replace a POL x 3/8 Flare for easy disconnect.

Solved the issue of having to use a wrench with my old connector.

As ordered.

by:

I run a lot of propane devices from my camper's propane system. Griddle, large 3-burner stove, smaller stove, lanterns and generator. I got these to on the campers tank connections, to make sure I have enough supply for everything.

Heavy duty and ready for work! Top quality. If you need one of these fittings, this is the one to buy!

  • How Do I Add A Hose To The Type 1 Propane Tank Connector 204052-MBS
Hello Robert, great question. The best way to do this is to connect the Type 1 Propane Tank Connector # 204052-MBS to your propane tank which will hold it in place so you can thread on your hose. You will need to remove the supply hose from regulator, put the adapter into the regulator, thread on to a tank, then reinstall the supply hose last. Make sure to use thread sealant for your NPT fittings.
