Quick Disconnect Fitting Diagram

Make camping more fun and relaxing. Moving your 5th-wheel camper or travel trailer once you've gotten settled at the campsite is a real chore. No one wants to have to pack up, unplug, and go refill the propane cylinders, just to come back to the site and set everything up all over again. This Sturgi-Stay T-fitting lets you connect an auxiliary cylinder to your setup using a quick-disconnect fill hose (sold separately). As a result, you can run your appliances off of the propane in the cylinder rather than using up the LP gas from your trailer's setup. When you run out, just refill the auxiliary cylinder and hook it up again.

The disposable cylinder port on the Sturgi-Stay provides a connection point for a small, portable appliance or propane tree. This way you can power a grill, heater, or other accessory without needing to use a 1-lb throwaway cylinder. Simply attach an adapter hose (sold separately) to your appliance and then to the disposable cylinder port on the T-fitting.

Quick Disconnect Port

QDs

The Sturgi-Stay features a quick-disconnect port that connects to the fill hose (sold separately) from your auxiliary cylinder. This quick-disconnect port lets you connect and disconnect a hose without any tools. Simply snap the quick-disconnect hose into the port and it will stay locked in until you release it. To remove the hose, just pull back on the collar of the port. The port also features a gas shut-off lever that allows you to completely cut off the propane supply to that port to keep gas contained when no hose is attached. Be sure to move the lever to the "off" position before disconnecting the hose.

These Sturgi-Stays work well for expanding a RV propane distribution system without being limited to regulator BTU/H limit. We put one on both our RV propane tanks. Details of this RV modification and many others may be found here if interested:

Is exactly what I was looking for.
My
grill has a regulator, so connecting to the quick connect on my trailer does not work. Now I can quick connect without having to modify my grill.

Arrived as described. Disappointed to discover that etrailer.com does not carry mounting brackets for their regulators, but I welcomed the opportunity to dust off my diy skills. Note the bailing wire. Super pro! Also, if anyone knows what happens when one uses a vertical regulator horizontally, I'm all ears.

by:

This unit does what it says it will however I think there is room for improvement. To use this system you need three wrenches on hand. A 7/8 for the hose to the gas cylinder, a 1/2" for removing the plug from the fitting and a 7/16 for the hose to the fitting connection. Why not make them both 7/16"? When you remove the hose you need to be very careful not to allow the ends to hit the dirt, why not have little caps on both ends to keep them clean when not in use. Again, it works but engineering wise could use some work for the price. This allowed us to use 20lb cylinders that cost 3.45 per gallon to fill vs 3.65 and moving the rig everytime the big tank got low.

by:

I ordered this to save money on the 1 lb green tanks. Well it worked great for the first 10 months! It leaks around the on and off valves!! So I removed it before we had a bigger issue as this was connected to my propane tank under my Class A Motorhome.

by:

I've had these on my other RVs. Be careful and check for leaks, usualy around the valve stems. They claim they are rated up to 250psi but the fittings are marked at only 1/2psi. Whats up with that?

by:

The problem I was having was orange flame on the stove. Looking on line it said that was caused by a defective propane regulator. We were using a humidifier, with the humidifier turn on we got orange flames with the humidifier turned off blue flames.

  • Replacement Regulator for Two DOT Propane Tanks Also Running a Generator
For a regulator you can use the Camco automatic changeover regulator, part # CAM59005. It will automatically switch from the first tank as it runs low to the second to avoid any interruption in gas flow. In order to hook up the generator without disconnecting either tank you'll want to add in a T-connector in-line with one of the tanks. If your generator uses a Quick Disconnect fitting you can use # 103613-MBS or if it uses an inverted flare use # 103612-MBS. Both of the fittings also...

The MB Sturgis Quick Disconnect Propane Hose for Small Appliance # 100476-120-MBS will install on a T-Fitting before the regulator on the camper side. Some campers already have the T-Fitting installed so if this is the case you will be good to go. If your camper does not already have a T-Fitting installed before the regulator on the camper you can simply install the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting for Type 1 Valve # 103613-MBS. Yes, you can install quick disconnects before a regulator by using a tee. The right one will depend on if you have a Type 1 valve (typically on trailer propane tanks) or POL (which is typically on motorhomes). There isn't a great way to do what you are looking for but if you install a tee between your propane source and regulator like with the part # 103613-MBS you can access the higher pressure propane your grill needs.
