Features to know about

Haul Work and Weekend Gear: 500-lb Carrying Capacity

The Adarac Aluminum Series Ladder Rack adds serious utility without giving up your bed space. It supports up to 500 lbs (250 lbs per bar), so you can haul ladders, lumber, and pipe during the week, then load up kayaks, skis, or surfboards for the weekend. The over-cab height design keeps long cargo safely above the bed while leaving room underneath for tools or other gear.

Built to Last: Matte Black Aluminum Construction

This rack is made of lightweight aluminum that’s rustproof and corrosion-resistant. The matte black finish adds another layer of durability and helps hide everyday wear. Even with heavy use on job sites or back roads, the extruded aluminum frame stays strong and looks clean.

No-Drill Setup: Foam-Padded Utility Rails and Stake Pocket Inserts

Installation is quick and straightforward. The foam-padded utility rails sit on top of your bed rails and secure with aluminum stake pocket inserts—no drilling needed. The padding protects your truck’s finish while the rail design provides a solid foundation for the uprights and crossbars.

Adaptable for Changing Loads: Slotted Crossbars and Repositionable Uprights

Square crossbars feature mounting channels along the top and bottom so you can easily attach tie-downs or accessories. The removable rubber strip on top gives access to those channels, and the uprights slide along the utility rails so you can adjust spacing for long or bulky items. Optional load stops (sold separately) help keep cargo from shifting and add tie-down points where you need them.

Works with Inside-the-Rail Tonneau Covers

You don’t have to choose between bed protection and hauling capability. The Adarac Aluminum Series works with many inside-the-rail roll-up tonneau covers, letting you keep your bed gear out of the weather while using the rack above for longer cargo. It’s a clean, functional setup for both work and play.

Video Transcript for Feature Breakdown: Adarac Aluminum Series Custom Truck Bed Ladder Rack

Hi everyone, Aiden here with etrailer. And today we're gonna be taking a look at the line of ADARAC aluminum series custom truck bed ladder racks. These are gonna come in a number of different shapes and sizes for your different trucks and bed lengths. So be sure to use our fit guide to find the right kit for you. But it's gonna be a ladder rack that offers you a lot of options in terms of add-on accessories, tonneau cover compatibility, and just be an all around strong system for your truck. Let's check it out.

So the first thing you probably want to know is how is it tonneau cover compatible, because that's a pretty unique case. Ladder racks and tonneau covers typically don't play very well together. And typically if you want to do that, you have to get a really high end tonneau cover that has T tracks on the side and pair it up with a very specific type of ladder rack. The way this works though is by mounting up to the bed rails of your truck. And that part is what's gonna vary depending on your application.

Take, for example, our Tacoma today, it's actually bolted into the bed rails in three different locations. So that is gonna require some minor drilling, but let's say on a full-sized truck that has stake pockets, you might not have to drill at all there. So it's really gonna depend on your application and come down to your vehicle. Again, just be sure to check out those specific instructions for you and find out how it installs. But that method of attaching to the bed rails is what allows it to work with tonneau covers.

At least ones that sit inside the bed rails. Specifically they confirm fits for access roll-up covers, but depending on the brand that you get, if it sits within the bed rails, you probably can get that to work too. I would stray away from folding covers though, because as those panels fold up, you might have issues where they hit the uprights. Again, case by case basis, you might find some that work, but soft roll-up covers are probably gonna be the way to go there. Now as far as capability goes, you're gonna be able to support up to 500 pounds with this ladder rack.

So if you are using it for a work application with lumber, ladders, trips to the hardware store, that capacity's actually pretty good. You can certainly get higher rated ladder racks that are totally focused on that work side of things. But this is a nice middle ground where it can do that type of stuff, but again, has that compatibility with the other accessories like the top bars and side bars where you could attach a tent up here. You could attach recovery boards to the side, if you did choose to pick up those extra pieces. Just keep in mind that if you do go that route, those separate bars will have their own weight capacities and don't increase the weight capacity of the ladder rack. But they do add some structure and support to it. You're just gonna have to keep that in mind when loading it up and figuring out how heavy you can go with your accessories. Now, even if you didn't choose to add all these extra accessories, I still think the rack could be really good for more sports and rec applications, and that's because we can adjust the crossbar spread really easily. On the bottom of the upright, there's two bolts that will attach this to the track, and if you loosen those up on both sides, this whole track is basically just open for adjustment. Where you can slide the uprights forward and back, closer together, or further apart. You can have 'em really far apart, four lumber, ladders, or kayaks, canoes, things like that. Or you can put 'em a bit closer together for a tent or maybe for a box or a basket, maybe bike racks. Other accessories that don't need such a wide spread or can't have such a wide spread. This will be a completely fixed height ladder rack, which means there's no height adjustment. It will give you cab clearance, but that exact measurement will vary depending on your application. So for our Tacoma versus say an F-150, that height is gonna be a little different, so be sure to check out the correct kit for you to get that exact measurement. But if you need clearance over the cab for longer boats or lumber, that's gonna give you it. If you don't, I would recommend something like a mid height rack, maybe like the Thule Xporter or maybe an adjustable ladder rack like the Yakima Overhaul. And the reason I'd say that is if you don't need cab clearance, get that rack a bit lower to the bed. Whether it's a tent or bike racks or a basket that you're loading up, having it lower to the ground will make that process easier. And you don't have to reach up as high, and you're not gonna add as much height to your vehicle that way. But if you need the cab clearance, this is the way to go. And all throughout you'll see a matte black finish. They do offer this in a more bare aluminum silver look, and I don't like that near as much. I think the matte black is definitely the way to go as far as styling is concerned. But say if you had a white truck, that silver might look better for you and your own personal tastes. Functionally they're gonna be the same though, and you're gonna get the same solid construction all throughout. That is something I'm really impressed with. The one thing I don't love is the end caps on our crossbars. Really all they are are end caps. There are small loops there, but I personally wouldn't use it as a tie down point because the whole thing is just plastic. I'd rather go to a tie down point in my bed, or wrap the strap around the underside of my crossbar here. Overall though, I think this is gonna be a really solid option for a ladder rack. And particularly when compared to some of the other options, like I mentioned. The Thule Xporter, or the Yakima Overhaul. Specifically, I think this could be a good alternative to the Yakima overhaul if you're not afraid of potentially having to make some modifications, depending on your application, like our Tacoma. And you do want to add on some of the accessories like sidebars and don't mind drilling through the uprights to attach those. Because the whole system and just the ladder rack itself is a much more budget friendly option. So, again, if you're not afraid to break up the tools a bit and make this work for your truck, it's gonna be a really solid system. But if you are looking to just have something that's out of the box ready to bolt on, you don't have to make modifications, then do explore one of those other options. But I think if you're planning on really decking this out with all the accessories and you're trying to keep price in mind that this ADARAC aluminum series custom ladder rack could be a good fit for you. Thanks for watching.

Love it! Holds my 14.5 ft kayak with no problem even with the 5.5 foot bed. Looks great on my truck!

This is a what I wanted, I only gave it four stars because the install video and instruction pamphlet do not completely represent a 2018 chevy colorado, had to call adarac to see what the issue was! You have to remove rear tail lenses for install, not overly difficult, you are left with 2 additional mounting plates. No wording of this which makes you scratch your head! Also you have to figure out distance in between bed for long mounting plates! overall I am satisfied with product and would purchase again from etrailer. In final I did speak with customer service and there was a little phone tag, always friendly and supportive. Thank you

Solid rack

Looks great only thing was the directions really were no help so need to know little about it

I purchased it for my Rivian R1T the mounting supports for the uprights had cutouts for the tunnel and tailgate buttons. This is a good ladder rack. I bought it to carry ladders, long length lumber and pipes. Also it is easy to remove when not needed. The rails mounted to the truck look good with or without the uprights. It's a great system. Highly recommend

It’s been a wonderful rack !!
Best i
have ever had
And I have had a few 5-6 over the last 40 years
Most to haul canoes kayaks ladders long lumber plywood mattress and box springs
But ……I am having to elevate my canoes on a elevated extension Closed cell foam to increase my height so the bow does not rub and rest on my Tundra roof.
Can do
Love the rack !

The Adarac Aluminum Ladder Rack is a great product that's easy to install and looks great on a Colorado. Installation instructions say to remove the taillight housing to install the rear mount. You can not get to where the nut plate goes from there on a '24 Colorado. You need to reach up between the wheel well and where the taillight housing mounts.

The rack is perfect for hauling our Kayaks. I painted mine satin black before I installed it to better match my truck.

by:

Super strong / easy installation 30min

by:

This rack is awesome! It fits with the toneau cover on the bed and the two do not interfere with each other. It is built tough, but it's light weight to handle, making it easy for one person to take off and put back on the truck alone. We use it to carry kayaks when we go camping, and got some extra tie-downs to hold the kayaks in place so they won't slide around. We take the rack arms off leaving the bed frames on the truck when not being used, so it's fast to just put the arms of the rack back on when needed. That way there is no need to readjust anything.

by:

I love this rack system. Easy installation and looks great on my truck. Steve.

by:

We have used our racks for hauling kayaks and it is excellent! We also use for hauling folding tables for camping when kayaks not needed. Easy install, easy seasonal takeout too! Great product for carbon pro beds.

by:

Solid, easy to install, only thing nicer would be to have stainless steel hardware and to smooth out the welds in a few spots for a more professional finished look.

by:

Good product

by:

Easy, clean install; fits great on 2022 F-150 with BAKFlip MX4 Hard Tonneau Folding Cover.

by:

Tried to get this locally installed. They said there were none available and couldn't order it. Basically I left there feeling disappointed.
After a Little research I decided to try etrailer. The people there are great and exceeded my expectations. They ordered it from the manufacturer and had it shipped directly from them. It arrived before I anticipated it would and I did the installation myself. Great product..thanks

by:

Great rack. Wasn’t too hard to put together but the instructions could have been more product specific. We have been looking for something for our R1T to carry our long Kayaks and other things.

by:

Great rack for sliding !

by:

Ladder Rack came in earlier than expected to start. Good looking rack once installed and time will only tell how it holds up, but it seems good and sturdy. Easy to install but had to take into account the bedcover and readjust the rails with the upright arm mounts attached a few times. I've got a tri-fold bakflip cover. Giving it 4.5 stars because I had to mount rails all the way back so I could clear the upright arms with the bedcover. Doing so makes the rail not sit over front stake pocket by ~1/4 inch or so. Overall, it works and is safe + looks good on the truck!

by:

This has been a great ladder rack. I purchased the rack to carry a two person 13' Vibe Fishing Kayak long distances as we travel with our camper. The Adarac Rack is easy to remove when not in use and the rails mounted to the truck look good either way. I paired the rack with a Lamma Rack to secure the kayak. Together it's a great system. Highly recommend!

by:

This is a great, sturdy product. I purchased it to carry Kayaks and Canoes on my F150 and it's the only reasonably priced solution I could find that didn't require me to remove my Backflip bed cover. The only drawback is that it uses the stake holes in the bed to attach it and Ford covers the front ones up on the short bed version of the truck. If you have the long bed F150 you won't have any issues.

Great Customer service

by:

Real happy with this ladder rack. I ordered the aluminum series because the flat black series was not available at the time due to material availability. I used a good brand-name flat black paint and other than a few touch-ups, it's holding up well. The install was a little tricky getting the width right so I'd recommend following the directions exactly as listed in the instructions. My wife and I carry two kayaks, one a Pelican Catch 120 sit-on and one 10' Perception sit-in, with easy securing with Malone straps and no shifting nor sliding. This rack is solid and good looking. We especially like the fact that you can use it with a tonneau cover in place.

by:

This product is solid and well built. Instructions were easy to follow. About 45-60 minute install. Looks good on my Silverado. Would highly recommend.

We bought the Adarac as a way to bring two kayaks along on trips while towing the travel trailer.
The vehicle is a 2022 Silverado 1500 crew cab short bed (5.8').
It works perfectly with a WeatherTech trifold cover in place.
As another review mentions, for the cover to open, the uprights need placed tight against the end caps and the base bars need mounted as far back as the rail pocket mounts allow for.
Because the factory bed side cap is plastic, a torque spec for the mounting bolts would be helpful to provide proper tightening without crushing the plastic support ribs.
This is especially important on the front mount where there isn't a split washer to gauge the pressure with.
We covered a few hundred miles on the first trip without anything loosening.
It was easy for two people to lift it off the truck in one piece and store it for the next trip.
I have shipped the kayaks a few different ways on different vehicles and this was the easiest.
Two kayaks fit side by side without leaning them on additional brackets.
The rack provides a non-slip rubber insert along the top rails.
There are two strap paths readily available at each crossbar.
One path passes through slots in the uprights and the other through the plastic end caps.
We used one path for the primary straps and one for the backup straps.
Both paths are easily accessible while standing on either the tailgate or the rear door sills.
The steel uprights required some touch ups due to shipping scratches.
We'll see how well the paint holds up over the long run.

  • What Ladder Rack Do You Recommend For My 2021 Ford Ranger With A BAKFlip MX4 Tonneau Cover
The BAKFlip tonneau covers are a good choice. I am not sure what size truck bed you have on your 2021 Ford Ranger, but if you have the 5' bed you would get the BAKFlip MX4 Hard Tonneau Cover - Folding - Aluminum - Matte Finish, part # BAK448332. The BAKFlip MX4 for the 6' bed is part # BAK448333.
