Features to know about

A Matched Kit That Simplifies the Install

When you're replacing your unit or setting up a rig for remote work or rough travel, the last thing you want is to guess which parts will fit. This kit gives you everything you need: a rugged, high-output rooftop unit, a ducted air distribution box, and a digital thermostat, all designed to work together. The ADB even comes with detailed, illustrated instructions so you can get it installed right the first time.

Cooling Power for Bigger Jobs

With 15,000 Btu of cooling power, this system moves air through your ceiling ducts to cool larger RVs or drop the temperature fast in smaller ones. Whether you're parked on a dusty work site or tucked deep in the backcountry, it's built to keep delivering steady cooling. So, you walk in and the air feels dry, cool, and breathable, just the way it should.

Built for the Rough Stuff

Most rooftop ACs are designed for highways and campgrounds. Coleman-Mach's Roughneck units are different. They're braced and reinforced so they don't rattle apart when the road gets bad. A stabilizer ties the compressor and coil into a solid frame, the coil housing is steel instead of plastic, and a reinforced basepan keeps the whole unit from flexing. Add it all up and you get a unit that stays together through the vibration, bumps, and jolts that come with off-road travel.

Easy, Accessible Control at the Ceiling

The air distribution box gives you control right at ceiling level. Open the louvers for direct cooling into the cabin or close them to push air through your ducts. The slim, low-profile design gives you more overhead clearance, and the swing-open grille makes it easy to reach and wash the filter. No tools needed. Just pull, rinse, and snap it back into place.

Add Heat for Chilly Mornings

When the temperature drops, this system can be upgraded with a 5,600 Btu heat strip (sold separately). It's a quick way to take the chill out of the air without firing up the furnace, making it handy for shoulder seasons and early mornings.

Video Transcript for Review of Coleman-Mach RV Air Conditioners - Roughneck Mach 15 Ducted Sys Textured Black - CM85RR

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a quick look at this Coleman-Mach Roughneck Mach 15 15,000 BTU Ducted RV Air Conditioner System in this textured black shroud. Now, one of the biggest headaches in RV repairs is figuring out which parts are going to work together. But this kit is going to take that all off of your plate. This rooftop unit comes with an air distribution box and a thermostat, and all those elements are designed to work together.

So installation is going to be a lot smoother and nothing should catch you off guard. So whether you're doing the install yourself or you're paying someone to do it for you, everything in this kit is designed to work together. And so that's gonna make your job faster, easier, and a whole lot less stressful. Now this Roughneck series is specially designed for harsher environments. So if you travel in areas with extreme heat or lots of dust or rugged terrain, this unit is made to hold up better than a standard rooftop air conditioner.

It has a st sturdier build and reinforced component, so it's not going to get rattled apart as easily on bumpy roads. And for instance, this has a internal brace plate assembly that's going to secure the condenser coil and compressor from high vibration. And a welded wire compressor clamp is also included inside that's going to help limit the motion of that compressor. So this is made for RVs with ducted air. With 15,000 BTUs, this is going to give you about 10 to 12% more cooling power, which is gonna be helpful in those larger RVs.

Think about 30 feet long and longer, especially if it has slide outs. So this is also going to be great for those climates that are more hot and more humid, where that extra capacity is really going to help making you more comfortable. Inside the unit, we do have large coils and airflow boast, boosting rather, fins that are going to help pull that heat out even more efficiently. So your RV's gonna stay cooler with less strain on the overall system. Now looking at the overall length, roughly, we're sitting about 38 inches.

And then looking at the width, about 27 inches. And then looking at the overall height, this is a medium profile AC. We're really close to 14 inches tall. So just some rough measurements to kind of give you an idea of the size of this unit. This is going to work with roof, standard roof, RV roof openings, let me try to get that out, of 14 and 1/4 inches by 14 and 1/4 inches. And this unit weighs about 85 pounds. Now this does have a pretty cool streamlined look. And this medium profile shroud is gonna help reduce drag. And this has a textured black finish that I think is gonna do a great job of holding up against the elements. It should be less scratch and scuff resistant, or should be more scratch and scuff resistant. And if you notice it's not hard or rigid, there's a little bit of give to it. So I think it's going to be more impact-resistant. I don't think it's gonna fracture or crack as easily as some of those harder covers might. So overall, I think it's gonna do a great job of protecting the internal components from water, dirt, debris and elements such as those. Now this air distribution box is going to give you direct or ducted air flow. You're just going to open up the louvers here to let cool air straight into the cabin and then you can close them to push that air through the existing duct work that you have in your RV or camper. And this is also going to allow you to rinse out the air filters that we have here on the side. You're just gonna pop those grills off on the side, rinse those filters out, let them air dry, and then put the back in. So you're gonna continue to have that clean, unrestrained airflow. You are going to get this control box here, which is basically the brains of the operation, hardware and wiring to get this installed into place. And you're also going to get this thermostat here. This is an easy temperature control thermostat and it's gonna be a simple digital thermostat to allow very easy adjustments. Has a back lit display. The screen's gonna be very easy to read, whether it's day or night. So no more fumbling around with buttons in the dark. And just to give you some measurements here, the overall height's gonna be about four inches. The overall width is two and a half inches and the thickness is gonna be right about an inch. So again, everything that you see here to get this installed in place, just wanted to show you what this is gonna look like in your ceiling. So it's not gonna take up a whole lot of space. Honestly, I can't remember if I gave you measurements here of our box. So lemme go ahead and do that real quick just in case I didn't. 20 inches long, 19 inches wide. And that's gonna stick down from your ceiling from about an inch to an inch and a half down. So it's not gonna take up a whole lot of head space at all. Now this system is not going to be backwards compatible with any air conditioner system or component from 2024 and earlier due to the new R32 refrigerant that this unit uses. So just in case you have any other additional components in your RV or camper from 2024 earlier, it's probably not gonna work with this system. What's nice about this kit is everything is designed to work together, everything's gonna be compatible with the R32 refrigerant. And one other thing I wanted to mention is there is a heat strip that you could pick up that is sold separately and that heat strip's not meant as a furnace replacement, it's just meant to help take the nip out of the air on some of those early fall cool mornings. So if that's something you might be interested in, I am including our item number for that heat strip and you could add that to your order if you so to desire. Should be a pretty simple install if you decide to pick it up. Now we do have other systems available from Coleman-Mach and from other manufacturers as well. So if this isn't exactly what you're looking for or if you have any other questions about this system, don't hesitate to reach back out to us. We do wanna be sure that you're getting exactly what you want and need. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

  • Difference Between Coleman-Mach Roughneck Mach 15 and Signature Mach 15
Hey Bill, great question! The Signature Mach 15 is your standard AC unit which is probably what you want. The Roughneck has a fortified interior making it ideal for off-road and heavy industrial vehicle applications. Basically it is made to take more of a beating. If you had an old carrier and it is wearing out from use over time (I'm guessing that is the case here) the Signature is what you want. If you have been off-roading with your trailer lately and it killed off the Carrier then...
