Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Blue Ox Custom Fit two inch trailer hitch receiver with integrated step. Now this has been designed to fit your 2014 to current Ram ProMaster, the 1500 and the 2500s. And on custom fit parts such as this, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer. Just pop in the year, make and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have something comparable that will work for you.
This class three trailer hitch receiver is designed to give your ProMaster not only a standard two inch receiver for towing capabilities and for accessories like your bike racks and cargo carriers, but also this is going to give you this great integrated step. So, that's the main functionality that this has that obviously other trailer hitch receivers are not going to have. This is going to give you an extra place to stand and it's also going to give you that extra boost that you need in case you need to get some cargo on the roof of your van. And so on your screen, I'm just showing you a photo of what this is going to look like installed and kind of give you an idea of what to expect once you have this installed in place. But the step itself has a diamond tread plating here, so you're going to have that nice extra grip.
And I wanted to get my tape measure here and measure the step itself. So, looking at the overall width, we're sitting pretty close to 48 inches wide. And then the depth here, about 11 and a quarter inches deep. So, this is really going to add a lot of convenience and utility, if you will, to your ProMaster. And especially if you need that extra assistance to get into the cargo area of your van or just get some cargo off the top, this is really going to be a great addition to what you currently have.
Capacity wise, this is rated for up to 5,000 pounds of gross trailer weight and 750 pounds of tongue weight. So, that's going to make this very useful for light to moderate towing as well as heavier hitch mounted accessories as long as your ProMaster is also rated to handle that weight. One important limitation is that this hitch is not rated for use with weight distribution, so just be aware of that. And I want to give you a closer view of the receiver itself. So, again, this is going to be a two inch receiver and that's a big advantage because this is one of the most common hitch sizes.
It's going to give you a lot of flexibility when choosing ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers and other hitch mounted accessories. The cross tube is going to be visible once installed. So, this is not intended to have a fully hidden or factory style appearance. For construction, Blue Ox uses a textured black powder coat over an e-coat base. That combination is intended to help protect the hitch against rust, corrosion, road salt, moisture and general road grime. And the textured finish can also make normal scratches and wear a little less noticeable. I mean, this is a great finish that's on here. I think it's going to hold up really well. It seems very durable and really makes it look great as well. It can really handle some tough use. Now this has been put together with a precise robotic welding and insulation is going to be a bolt on insulation. You're going to get the hardware that you need to get this in place. It's going to attach directly to your ProMaster's frame using the hardware. So, you're not going to have to worry about welding or drilling. And I wanted to mention that this is fairly large, but also it's robust. It's somewhat heavy. I needed help getting it on my table. So, all that to say when you're installing this, it's probably going to be a good idea to have help just to help support this in place when you're installing this.
