Speaker 1: Today, we're taking a look at the Kat's Heaters Oil or Transmission Pan Heating Pad. This is designed to warm oil or transmission fluid for better lubrication in the winter or colder weather. It'll warm your transmission fluid, which allows for a smoother gear shifting and it can also be used to warm oil to provide better lubrication for a longer lasting, better functioning engine.It is designed to resist oil and acid with a nice silicone cover. It attaches to the underside of your vehicle's oil or transmission pan with the three M adhesive tape. You just peel that off, stick it to the installation surface. Then, the power cord plugs into a 120 volt outlet.

I bought this pad heater for my air compressor that lives in the unheated side of my shop. I ruined two electric motors due to the oil in the compressor turning to molasses during the winter where it gets well below zero. So far so good. :)
The adhesive is solid, not peeling and the pad keeps my compressor nice and toasty. Before when I was away traveling I would forget to open the breaker for the compressor and come home to a ruined motor. That problem is history.
I highly recomend this heater, very small but very effective for oil pans of all types needing to be kept warm in freezing condition.

This is the second Kats engine heater I have purchased and both are good quality and durable. Definitely need to keep your parts warm! : ) I'm actually from California originally (specifically Lake Elsinore and then San Diego) and we used to take a yearly summer trip up to Mammoth for mountain biking. I think we went up to Bridgeport a few times after checking out Mono Lake. If it's where I'm thinking, it was very pretty! I sometimes forget how much I miss the mountains being out here in Missouri now. Just about as flat as you can get. Everything is quite a bit less expensive out here though, so there's that I guess.

Installation was a snap as my generator was still hot from running. Peeled off the liner to expose the adhesive and stuck it squarely and securely on the underside of the oil pan. My review is only 4 stars because I haven't yet put the product to the test, but when that happens I will revisit and revise my review. Otherwise the heater arrived quickly and was as described.

Great Product! Volkswagen Jetta TDI makes no electrical heaters. There is NO frost plug on the engine either! Installed the KAT and life is good! Starts every time.

The pan heater is going strong. The 2003 VW TDI does not offer any solutions to warming up the engine so I chose to do the pan heater over cutting into the cooling system. I would do it again!

So far so good. Bought 3 for our diesels. Be sure to clean the oil pan for any dust, grime or grease. We even lightly sanded the oil pan to ensure good adhesion then used high temp RTV silicone around the edges.

Hello Sam, Great question! Kat’s heater # KH24050 doesn’t list a max run time, and these heaters are commonly left plugged in overnight in cold weather. The Kat's Heaters Oil Pan Heating Pad # KH24050 attaches to the oil pan with 3M tape. I have included a picture that shows the back of the heater where it attaches to the oil pan.
