Video Transcript for Checking Out the Kat's Heaters Oil/Transmission Pan Heating Pad

Hi everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Kat's Heaters oil or transmission pan heating pad. Now this heating pad is going to let you warm your oil or transmission fluid for better lubrication in the winter. And as you probably know, warm transmission fluid allows for smoother gear shifting, and warm oil gives you better lubrication for a longer lasting, better functioning engine. While we're here, let me give you some measurements just so you have a good idea of the size of this pad.

So as you can see, we're five inches long and four inches wide. And this flexible heater is designed for use on your oil or your transmission pan, and the size of the pan or tank that this heater should be used on is determined by the wattage of the heater. This is a 250 watt heating pad. So this is going to give you the best results there with the pans and the tanks that you see there on your screen. As you can see, the possible applications for this heater, it's gonna be an eight- to 20-quart engine oil pan, a 10- to 20-gallon diesel tank, a 10- to 20-gallon hydraulic tank, or a four- to seven-gallon water tank.

So you have those possible applications there that this pad is going to work with. This pad is made here in the USA, and it does resist oil and acid with this silicone cover. It is also CSA-approved, and this is going to simply attach to the underside of your vehicle's oil or transmission pan. With the 3M tape, you're just going to pull this film back to expose that 3M adhesion, and then this is going to plug into your 120-volt outlet with the three-prong plug. And this cord is about five feet long, and instructions are also included.

That's gonna wrap up our real quick look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

I put this heater on my RV water heater to prevent it from freezing. So far it works well.

by:

I used this through a winter in the north where it regularly is at subzero temperatures. Truck always started without any issues. I also had heat pads on the oil pan and transmission that I bought from etrailer. At -40+ degrees the truck always started relatively easy.

Great Product! Volkswagen Jetta TDI makes no electrical heaters. There is NO frost plug on the engine either! Installed the KAT and life is good! Starts every time.

Installation was a snap as my generator was still hot from running. Peeled off the liner to expose the adhesive and stuck it squarely and securely on the underside of the oil pan. My review is only 4 stars because I haven't yet put the product to the test, but when that happens I will revisit and revise my review. Otherwise the heater arrived quickly and was as described.

by:

Was disappointed. Their product description along with the installation instructions both refer to "self adhesive" but there is none. Called manufacture and they suggested High temp silicone RTV. Do to the location of installation this was difficult to do the clamping. Added 4 days for 2 people to the process to install.

Website was easy to use and shipping was quick!

Article conforme a la description.

I own and operate a tree service in MI, needless to say the winter months are hard on our equipment. I had searched for quit some time before I found this product, it was a very easy installation and makes a world of difference, I would highly recommend this to anyone who works in the cold weather. Thank you Kats !!!

I bought this pad heater for my air compressor that lives in the unheated side of my shop. I ruined two electric motors due to the oil in the compressor turning to molasses during the winter where it gets well below zero. So far so good. :)
The adhesive is solid, not peeling and the pad keeps my compressor nice and toasty. Before when I was away traveling I would forget to open the breaker for the compressor and come home to a ruined motor. That problem is history.
I highly recomend this heater, very small but very effective for oil pans of all types needing to be kept warm in freezing condition.

Works great

by:

So far so good. Bought 3 for our diesels. Be sure to clean the oil pan for any dust, grime or grease. We even lightly sanded the oil pan to ensure good adhesion then used high temp RTV silicone around the edges.

by:

Works awesome! This is the second one, the first burned out after two years. We use them on 4 wheelers in the winter, on timers for 2 hrs twice a day. Put on lower crank case to warm oil...starts much easier. This one still working well after 1 year.

by:

Used it to keep oil warm on my GENERAC generator for easier starting during winter months but the electrical connections on the heater were so poor that they were arcing and sparking like July 4th fireworks!! So I ripped it off, too unsafe.

by:

Just received heater today.
Looks like
it should be perfect for the oil pan installation on my Kubota diesel UTV.
Hope to do a after season review next spring.

by:

I installed this on a DEF tank in my diesel to keep it from freezing when I’m parked overnight in sub zero temps. I ran the cord along the frame rail as far as it would reach then attached an extension cord and routed that to come out in the same area as my block heater plug. Be sure to clean the surface of whatever you’re attaching the pad to in order to get good adhesion.

by:

Using heaters to warm up batteries on an electric drag racing car for cool weather racing. Batteries make more power when warm. The heaters work great!

by:

Installed this heater on the transmission of my Ford Escape. Works perfectly. Now the truck will shift into gear in cold weather. (I know I need a new transmission but the truck is not worth it) but this heater has bought me an extra year out of my truck. Thanks etrailer.

by:

I attached it to my air compressor to warm the oil before I start it when it's cold. Works well. I plug it in about 1 hour before using the compressor.

by:

We use it on the oil pan of our sprinter fleet. We run in subzero temps a couple times a year and this works great for us when our fleet has to sit outside overnight. Great product just make sure to research the size you need for your application.

This is the second Kats engine heater I have purchased and both are good quality and durable. This is also the second purchase I have made at eTrailer.com and I am totally satisfied with the cost, the no charge shipping, fast delivery and great follow up to make sure my order was correct and was delivered. I will definitely order from eTraler.com again should I need a component or a part.

by:

Used on transmission oil pan, works well. Good price, prompt shipping, good advice from tech dept. about placement and installation. Overall rating excellent.

by:

Quality. I hope it works as well as it looks! Will install soon.

by:

I used it on an elevated stock tank works good at -4 did not let water freeze used 4 heaters

by:

The product is what I ordered. I was
limited on smooth contact area to mount it. So, if functions as designed. I wish I could have installed a larger higher output unit for my application. Thanks for checking in. Have a great weekend.
[Thumbs up]
