Benefits of a Heated Engine

Start your engine easier and warm your cab faster in cold weather with this lower radiator hose heater. Heating your engine coolant keeps it from thickening and freezing, resulting in more reliable start-ups and smoother operation altogether. It also lessens the workload and extends the life of your vehicle's battery. And because starting your engine when it's warm creates less condensation in the engine block than starting it when it's cold, your engine will get better initial fuel vaporization, which causes fewer emissions and less pollution.

Lower Radiator Hose Heater

This heater splices into your lower radiator hose to heat your coolant. The heated coolant pushes the cold coolant through the radiator and thermosiphons it back to the heater. The heater's internal thermostat automatically shuts the heater off at 270 degrees Fahrenheit to keep the coolant at an optimal temperature, which allows the heater to operate safely overnight to ensure that no hoses freeze while your vehicle sits. Once you turn the ignition in the morning, your vehicle's water pump will cycle the heated coolant through the engine block and heater core. This will allow for a smooth startup, and it will also help your cab to heat and defrost faster.

Video Transcript for Review of Kats Heaters Vehicle Heaters - Circulating Heater - KH16800

Hi everyone. Steve here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at our Kat's Heaters lower radiator hose heater with a nice 207 degrees Fahrenheit thermostat. Now folks, this is gonna be for your two-inch-round diameter hoses. More specifically, it's gonna fit the 2011 through 2025 most Ford trucks on the larger side and specifically the ones that use the 6.7 liter V8 diesel engine and that are turbocharged. So make sure you're double checking the fit guide here at etrailer.com to make sure this part works for you.

And you can find that on our homepage, etrailer.com, underneath where it says My Vehicle. Enter all the information it asks to make sure you're getting the right parts the first time. Now, lower radiator hose here like this is really simple to install. You're gonna very simply put this around that two-inch lower radiator hose. It does have a cord that actually comes off, so if in the event you ever damage this cord or something, you can unplug it.

It is serviceable. You could buy another cord, sold separately. We do offer them here as well. But if you route it right and follow the instructions, you shouldn't run into that problem. You have a nice long four-foot harness here, or a 120-volt AC outlet, rather, cord, four feet long.

That should be more than enough to route through your grill and, you know, be able to plug into an extension cord at that point for installation. You also have the two hose clamps here. This is running on 600 watts of power and it's gonna be great for keeping your heater and everything on the engine, or rather the coolant, heat it up and everything. That way you can do those cold starts and it's gonna also help prevent everything from freezing up obviously. So this has a built-in thermosiphon.

That's gonna ensure that warm coolant continues to circulate through the engine and everything whenever you're not running it. It allows for safe operation overnight. The internal thermostat will automatically shut off once it reaches that max 270 degrees Fahrenheit. The heating element, as you can see, or as you can't see, it's enclosed inside this nice heavy-duty aluminum die-cast construction here. So it's impact/corrosion resistant. You don't worry about rust, corrosion, anything like that. It maintains in strength in high heat. And it's a molded one piece, so you don't worry about leaks or anything like that. So again, a great option if you have those 6.7 liter V8 diesel engines that are turbocharged, specifically, again, those Ford trucks. I'm Steven. Thanks so much for watching. I hope this information has been helpful for you. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, just reach out for us. We'll be happy to help you. Have a good one.

by:

Good product, awesome service. Very pleased with customer service.

by:

Does what it is supposed to do-keeps the radiator fluid temp above freezing.

by:

After reading the instructions it was a very easy install. Took about 1hr to install let it run for 40 minutes to check for any leaks and get the air out. This is a DIY project.

by:

This was a replacement as my previous one was damaged. In general, a great warmer for my 2003 VW TDI. I typically only use it when it's below 20F. It's nice coming to a car that is warm from the get go.

by:

It is a great product. I only gave it 4 stars because it won't fit in the location I need to put it. So I put it on my wife's car instead of my tractor. IT works great.

by:

Even though it took a long time to get The 1 inch radiator hose heater I understand the circumstances behind it, and I am impressed And grateful that you kept after it and kept me notified thank you Bill

by:

This is a great cats heater would I buy this product again from this company yes I would keeps my engine block warm

by:

My in-line lower radiator water heater arrived earlier than expected. It was packaged well and protected to ensure that it wouldn't be damaged. I was very pleased with the speed and accuracy of my order.

by:

Great price ... quick shipping

by:

Installed on a Mitsubishi 6 Cylinder diesel marine engine and worked like a charm. Some mornings experienced -25 degree Celsius temperature and engine would start first try, highly recommend.

by:

Installed on mahindra 2516 hst. Heater worked great in single digit weather.

by:

Installed on a KIOTI LB1914 tractor 20 degree weather plugged in 1 hour before I wanted to use the tractor and it started like spring. Easy install!!

by:

It’s working Ok but I think the block heater would have been better, as it heats a little but I guess with the car outside and being so cold out it really can’t get that warm being in the lower radiator hose instead of the engine block itself. But at the time I installed it was middle of winter and did’nt have the time or weather to install one in the block instead as it would have been a project to do it that way .Maybe in the warmer weather I will switch to the block heater instead.

by:

The engine heater can fast, however it won’t work on my loader there isn’t enough room to install it on the lower radiator hose.
I should have measured the location. Do you accept returns?

by:

I got this heater about a year ago but only installed it about a month ago. I have it in a
John Deere tractor with a 21 HP diesel engine. Here in Canada our temperature is measured in celsius and at minus 25 C which is about minus 12 F this little heater melted the snow and ice off the engine cover. I would recommend this heater to anyone. it is an excellent device.

by:

I ordered this for my John Deere lawn tractor. I use it in the winter to blow snow but have to keep it in an UNHEATED shed. The heater works awesome and is compact enough to mount behind the side panel with absolutely no interference with anything. I Highly recommend this heater and etrailer.com to buy it from, they are great to work with and the item came quickly.

by:

This is the replacement block heater for one I bought about ten years ago. The new unit appears to be more robust in construction. The heater function is noticeable in seconds compared to several minutes with the old unit.Original was of rolled sheet metal while the new unit is cast. KAT'S has upped their game. I highly recommend this particular in-hose coolant heater! I paid for the up-grade shipping and it was worth the price.I have the heater installed three days before it would have arrived with the regular shipping.

by:

They did a great job in keeping us informed on the back order. They also quickly sent a different kit, when we realized we had ordered the wrong one.

by:

Great

by:

The heater fit and worked well, that's all one can ask of it. Thanks

by:

Quality. I hope it works as well as it looks! Will install soon.
