Match the Heater to Your Engine

This heater fits select Ford diesel vehicles, including specified 6.0L, 6.4L, and 6.7L V8 applications. You'll find those engines in everything from Super Duty pickups to commercial chassis and vans. It's also listed for International/Navistar MaxxForce 5 and 7 engines, along with specified VT275 and VT365 applications. For agricultural and industrial equipment, it fits select John Deere Series 350 PowerTech Plus iT4 engines, including the 4.5L 4045 and 6.8L 6068. These engines can power different types of machinery, so identifying the engine is more useful than relying on the equipment name alone. Warm Coolant Directly Through the Threaded Connection

This is a threaded coolant-immersion heater, not a dry cartridge or press-in freeze-plug heater. It replaces a designated 27 mm threaded plug, placing the heating element directly in the engine coolant. As the coolant warms, natural convection helps move heat through the cooling passages, giving the engine a warmer starting point before you turn the key.

The installation location depends on the engine. Phillips & Temro specifies a right-rear location for the listed International/Navistar and John Deere engines, as well as certain Ford 6.0L and 6.4L applications. Its application guide identifies a left-rear location for specified Ford 6.7L engines. You can verify the placement using the Phillips & Temro catalog and application guide linked below (instruction link B). Follow the instructions for your particular engine, including the proper threaded connection, sealing method, and tightening specifications. Refill the cooling system and remove trapped air before connecting electrical power.

Keep the Power Cord Accessible and Replaceable

If you're plugging in before an early shift, you don't want to search around a crowded engine compartment for the connection. The included 6' silicone power cord can be routed to an accessible location on your vehicle or machine. Secure it away from exhaust components, sharp edges, and moving parts, leaving enough slack for normal engine movement.

The cord is removable, so a damaged electrical connection doesn't mean replacing the entire heater. The compatible replacement is the Zerostart 6' replacement power cord (ZE99SR) , manufacturer part 3600008. It uses the matching Type K connector, so be sure to use the correct replacement rather than a cord intended for another heater style.
