Adam: Hi everyone, Adam with etrailer.com. Today We're going to be taking a look at the Car hitch mounted step. These do come in many different variety of colors. As you see here, we do have black, it does come in a reflector red, or reflector white. There is an American flag one, which is definitely my pick, but we have plenty of other different types of logos, so go on etrailer.com and check them out. So our color or logo is going to be visible when it's flipped up like so, but we can flip this down, and it is going to have a very grippy surface, and it is made of steel with a nice powder coated finish, so it's going to last a long time, always look good, and it will get you that 650 pounds of weight capacity.So what I've noticed with owning a pickup, a lot of the times, it's kind of awkward to get up into our tailgate.
It's hard on our knees, our back, and our hands. I do see this being a lot easier as you can just basically step on the step, and get into your be like so. It's going to be easier on you and just make you be able to do whatever you need to do a lot easier. So this is going to work really well with our SUV's, even if we have a spare tire here, we can step on the step, and we can go ahead and load and unload our roof rack a lot easier.So the step is going to take care of your truck as well. Instead of using the bumper and scratching all this plastic, it is going to provide a lot more grip as well.
This plastic very, very smooth, and it's going to scratch a little bit more often than our steel down here. On top of that, if you have a pretty license plate, you're not going to have to worry about scratching it up whenever you have any sort of work boots on or anything like that. So yes, this is a rather smaller step than some of the other options we carry at etrailer.com, but it definitely has a more lower profile looks good, and even when it's out, or folded up, it's going to give you a lot more unintrusive look.So when comparing this fold-up step to the larger mega step, that car offers, it is going to have about 150 pounds more weight capacity, but we are going to lose a lot of surface area. In this instance, we are only going to have about five inches long by two and a half inches wide, and it is going to stick out from our hitch receiver about five inches. And when we fold this up, it is only going to stick out about two inches.
So the step does not come with a pin and clip. I just have a basic one right here, but it is a rather attractive step. So if you don't want it to run off whenever you're in the store or whatever it may be, you can grab a locking hitch pin here at etrailer.com. One thing to note, be sure to check what size hitch you have. This will be available for only the two-inch hitch receivers.So whether you're using this on a pickup truck, or even just a taller SUV to load some of your stuff onto your cargo carrier, regardless of what it is, it's definitely going to get the job done all while making your ride look a little bit cooler.

There's nothing I don't like about this hitch step...looks great,seems durable and is flush mounted-and if you've ever had a hitch on your Jeep and forgot about it and opened your tailgate...goodbye shin. Not with this, because it flips up and out of the way.The main reason I was interested in it was that I own a 2016 soft top JK and putting the top back up can get kind of tedious and difficult from ground level.I used it today and it made it 10X easier.Instead of lifting the roof up over my head and throwing it up and over,I was able to get above it and just push it forward.And when it's folded up, it has a picture of a 2 door Jeep on the back side.
I love it and will recommend it to my friends with tow hitches.
I have this on both my Honda Pilot and my FJ Cruiser for a year now and I love this product!! The step does what it is designed for with no issues. It easily handles the weight of anyone I know and that of people who noticed the Flag and wanted one of their own. I fully support this item, no questions asked. Plus I have not noticed any wear on the Flag. It looks brand new as if it came straight out of the box.
Even if I only used it for hand washing the roof my cars, it holds me securely. The tread on the step also provides security for your foot and will not slide off like the slickness that other step products that I have used in the past.

The CARR hitch step was exactly as advertised. It fits into the hitch with very little play and will allow me to get to the ladder and on to the top of of my RV. The CARR step is very well made and should last a good long time. I decided on the reflective design to show when the step is closed. I'm hoping it isn't too bright for someone behind me with headlights on. If I had to do it over, I would choose one of CARR's designs instead. One more thing, Etrailer.com was a great decision for my shopping. The order was shipped and delivered in a very timely fashion. I would give Etrailer.com a five star!
Super cool. Fits perfectly. Fit and finish is outstanding. Makes reaching the roof rack and getting into the far reaches of the cargo bay a snap. Highly recommend.
This is exactly what I wanted. I have a Jeep and only need to step up when I’m putting on the soft top.
It seems well made and even though the fit is a little loose to the hitch, a small amount of electric tape fixed that.
I bought this step-hitch to use as a "bump" guard on the back of my new Ventrac 3400L tractor. It fits the 2 inch hitch perfectly and I am pleased that it will shield me from backing into things with the new tractor.
I was looking for a sturdy, low profile, hitch step to easily get into and out of my 2024 Tacoma TRD Sport. I could tell by the weight of the packaging, that this was what I was looking for. Set it up in 2 minutes with a hitch pin lock. Perfect for getting my fat arse into and out of my truck.
I have a ski box on the roof of my car. This makes is so easy to use the box to open, close, load and unload skis and then it's completely out of the way when not in use. Perfect for what I needed. Also, it's solid and, after a year, showing no signs of rust.
Excellent product. The spring in the step is still tight, so after one year it is still sturdy and not at all loose or shaky. It does what I need it to do, and at night adds a bit more visibility to my Jeep from the rear.
My one complaint and the reason it doesn't get a fifth star, is that I had a similar step before which I sheared off while off roading, which had a single hole for the pin the appropriate standard depth. This step has two holes, which gives more flexibility on how deep they can be locked in inside the hitch receiver. But neither one is the perfect depth. One is too far, the other is about 0.5cm too close, so the step isn't completely in my hitch receiver. This does not affect the functionality or stability at all, but visually it doesn't look perfect.
I needed a small step that could also protect the bumper and it's perfect. Feels very solid despite its size. Good communication from Etrailer regarding delivery.

This step is the best thing since sliced bread!! Sturdy, fits very well in receiver, and when folded, only projects one inch from the bumper.
With my side-swinging tail gate, and a short paracord dog collar (looped around a bed tie down) it is effortless to get inside the truck bed. Hooray.

Nice hitch step with a small profile. I do wish the holes were better placed for the Draw-tite hitch. It sticks out about 1inch more than it needs to in the receiver. Very secure to step on, non slip surface. It makes it easier to reach the car top.
We have a 2019 Honda ridgeline and as my wife says, she is vertically challenged only being 5’1” tall. So I decided to order this step to help her as needed when she wanted to get up in the back of the truck. It works great for that and I like the reflector factor for the back of the truck, anything that helps being rear ended by some fool driver.
The only down side is that it isn’t as tight in the 2” x 2” trailer hook up as I would like to see, but that’s a small deal.

This receiver folding step is robust and well made. It is also stealthy and hardly noticeable to leave in place for access into the back of my 4runner.
