Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer. Let's take a quick look at this Curt Reducer Sleeve. Now, this reducer sleeve is a simple steel adapter that's going to let you use your smaller hitch mounted accessories with your larger trailer hitch receiver. This is going to slide into your 2" trailer hitch receiver, which is a standard size on many SUVs, trucks, and crossovers, and it's gonna reduce it down to 1 1/4" opening, which is the size used by lighter-duty accessories like bike racks or small cargo carriers. So the sleeve itself, retrieving my ruler here, as you can see, it's 4" long. This is made of high-strength carbon steel, and it's finished with a black carbide powder coat to protect it from rust, chips, and general wear.

It does use a standard 1/2" hitch pin hole, and it doesn't add any moving parts. It's just a solid sleeve that's going to slide into your receiver to make a smaller shank fit snugly. This reducer doesn't change your hitch's towing capacity. So in other words, you're still limited by whatever component has the lowest rating, your hitch, your accessory, or your vehicle. But this is not going to change your trailer hitch receiver's towing capacity.

This is gonna be great for light-duty applications, again, like your bike racks, small carriers, or light towing, but it's not meant for heavy trailers or max capacity loads. And because this is a single solid piece of steel, it's durable, it's long-lasting. But using any adapter is gonna add a small amount of play to your setup, so just be aware of that. But overall, it's going to be a great fit. It's gonna hold up really well for you and a very simple solution.
