Features to know about

Built for Serious Towing: 30,000 lbs GTW and 7,500 lbs Vertical Load

This underbed gooseneck hitch is made to pull heavy loads without flinching. With a gross towing weight of 30,000 lbs and a vertical load limit of 7,500 lbs, it’s designed for demanding jobs like hauling equipment or livestock trailers. The double-lock system uses two locking pins to hold the 2-5/16" chrome-plated ball in place, giving you extra security when you’re working with serious weight.

Close-up view of Curt Double Lock Flip and Store Underbed Gooseneck Hitch installed in a truck bed with chrome-plated hitch ball locked in towing position.

Flip the Ball and Clear the Bed: Flip-and-Store Design

When you’re done towing, just pull the handle, remove the ball, flip it upside down, and drop it back into the hitch for storage. This below-the-bed setup gives you a clean, flat bed surface so you can load gear, lumber, or feed without a hitch getting in the way. A rubber cover fits over the ball hole to keep out dirt and grime when the ball is stowed.

Quick Locking from the Side: Wheel-Well Release with Spring-Loaded Handle

The handle sits inside the truck’s wheel well where it’s easy to reach. Pull it out to unlock and rotate it counterclockwise to secure the ball in place. The spring-loaded mechanism snaps the dual pins into position when locked, and built-in safety-chain hookups make connecting trailers quick and tidy. The chrome ring around the ball opening also gives it a tight, low-profile look that blends right into the bed.

Solid Construction That Lasts: Corrosion-Resistant Steel and Grade 8 Hardware

The hitch body is made from black powder coated steel with zinc-plated internals for corrosion resistance. It comes with Grade 8 hardware for strength and reliability under load. A 4" hole in the bed is required for install—no welding needed—and an offset ball or adapter plate (sold separately) can be added later if your setup requires more clearance or fifth-wheel capability.

Got this for my 2002 ford F350. Was easy install, took about one hour. I pull a 26 ft trailer with it and it dose very well. I am happy with it. I would recommend it is a good hitch.

by:

This was a great product, works exactly as advertised.

A couple of things to note for install on a newer (2011-2016) model truck:

1. The Diesel Exhaust Fluid reservoir/pump makes the driver-side part of the install a pain in the butt. Particularly drilling the holes in the bed for the tow-chain loops. You have to drill from the underside of the bed, however there is almost no clearance between the DEF setup and the bed. I had to use an air grinder (90 deg) with a shorty bit to drill a small pilot hole on the front hole, and then measure the distance and drill the rear hole from the top down (blind).

2. The frame clamp (u-bolt) on the driver-side needs to be smashed a bit with a hammer to get it into position to fully clamp down.

Last thing (not necessarily about late model Ford), it is almost impossible to get a torque wrench in to tighten the adapter plates to the actual hitch. I just put a 1/2" drive flex head on my air-gun and went to town.
Other than these things it installed pretty well...could have used a lift.

I'm a curt fan!

Hitch worked very well for me. Using it on a 2006 F250 Diesel. Takes some work to get it installed but nothing major.

The exhaust bracket to move the exhaust away from the hitch needed to be modified to get the exhaust away enough so it didn't rattle, that is why give it 4 out of 5 stars.

by:

I am very happy with the gooseneck hitch I purchased from etrailer. It was easy to install and works perfectly. It's very solid and easy to hook up. Recently I pulled my 23 foot 5th wheel camper over a 1000 miles with it. I highly recommend the Curt brand.

by:

Solid product. Good fit and finish. Works well. Easy to turn ball. The added rubber cover is great too. It locks into place to keep things from falling into the ball area when the ball is stored. Instructions are terrible though! I'm very handy and I had a very difficult time understanding the instructions. They were very unclear. Even the videos I watched made things look and sound much easier than they were. Overall the install is much more difficult with a diesel because the DEF tank is in the way. Further the video made it sound like the main part of the hitch had to be orientated a specific way, but on my truck it had to be turned 180 degrees for it to fit. Took me a while to figure out that was ok. In fact, it doesn't matter. It goes in whichever way it fits on your vehicle. If I would have known that up front it would have saved me a lot of time and frustration.

by:

Overall very pleased. Put it together in just over 3 hours single handed (in my shop with truck on a lift) Instructions are a bit weak, had a few moments of head scratching, but not too difficult to sort out. Once together fit is excellent…no complaints!

by:

I have a 2002 F250 Super Duty and I only wish I had bought this sooner. The product is solid and exceeded my expectations. I was able to install without removing the Bed. It is very stable, super easy to use and put away (Turn Ball down). You do need to watch the Ball if it is turned down and you load the truck bed Heavy, the ball may tap the differential. A simple solution is to put the ball in the cab in these situations.
I recommend this hitch and will purchase another one when I buy a new truck.
Excellent Fit and easy to install.

by:

Great product. Fit my vehicle without modifications. Easy to install. Converted my fifth wheel travel trailer to goose neck hitch, so I don't have to remove a heavy fifth wheel hitch every time I want to haul something. Just pull the lever and turn the ball over giving me full use of the truck bed. Awesome

by:

The included instructions are not as thorough as they may could be. But thanks to etrailer for the included video that had great information not included in the instructions. I will be pulling the occasional cattle trailer and installing this myself gives me the confidence needed that is important to me. Thanks etrailer!

After a year in the F250 I have pulled loads that were a lot heavier than I thought I would, The hitch has pulled it off without a hitch, Thanks etrailer

by:

Product installed on my 2000 F250 fairly easy, having access to a lift was a huge help. Only issue i had was the box was torn and some bolts were missing. etrailer shipped replacements out the following day.

other than it was a little confusing during installation direction of plate and angles could have been either marked or better picture/description ,its a great Hitch will continue to recommend to friends.

It works great, my only complaint is the cover used when ball is stowed away doesnt secure very well and have lost, should extend a little farther into opening

Heavy Duty hitch. Easy Installation. Didn't need to install the exhaust spacers there was plenty of clearance even with the 5" exhaust I have on it. Fast shipping, ad good customer service, very pleasant to deal with. Thank You!

When we ordered the hitch we paid extra for quick ship and received the hitch on time, as we were in a pinch to get it installed and operational. My son and I installed it without any complication. Instructions were surprisingly easy to follow. Hitch showed up intact, well packaged and with all related hardware and in great condition. etrailer offered the best price we could find, were very friendly, informative and helpful. The women we dealt with went above and beyond any other vendor we use to make sure we had the right parts, shipped the right way and at the right time! Excellent customer service, will always check with them first when ordering anything we need in the future.

Hitch has worked as designed with no issues! Very happy with it!

by:

Great price but install not as seamless as others I have done. More detail to machine work would help the process. (Carriage bolts don't work well in a round hole)

by:

Received the hitch assembly yesterday and the quality and workmanship is excellent. Very high quality nuts, bolts, hardware etc. Chrome parts are classy as heck!
The packaging system needs some work though. Putting the center assembly and install kit in the same box makes the whole thing too heavy and by the time it got to the ranch the cardboard box was pretty bad. One of the hardware bags had fallen out and luckily was delivered with the rest. Center section box was completely destroyed and control rod was hanging out the side of the big box. I did an inventory and was amazed everything was was there as there were nuts and bolts running around loose in a box full of holes. Need to double bag the hardware and tape to the inside of the box.
Really like the installation videos on the website and will use those as an installation guide.

The hitch has worked out well. I particularly like the twist lock ball release system. Seems to work much better than the ball release on the B&W on my other truck, even when the muddy roads get everything dirty. Installation instructions are not great, video was very helpful. It would help a lot if the instructions were more clear regarding differences in truck model years.

by:

Wasn't to bad to put in. Directions were a little tough. I watched one of the videos on there site and that was extremely helpful. Took me about 4 hours, but I didn't use any air tools or a truck hoist. Over all I'm extremely happy with the product so far

by:

Hitch seems well made, install took about 2.5 hours by myself, will use it to tow stock trailers mostly. Great price and shipped quickly. Thanks

by:

I like the hitch but when ai am pulling my trailers, and I am moving them around at low speeds it seems that there is a good amount of movement in the hitch and the feel in the truck. I’m not sure what that is but I have used trucks that didn’t have that feel in them but mine definitely does. We followed all directions and torqued all bolts to the required amount. Maybe someone can shed some light on what that maybe.

Thanks

I wanted to ask if you could explain in more detail what the movement is like? Are you hearing any chucking or banging? How old is the gooseneck coupler that you are using?

Bryan profile picture

Bryan

12/26/2024

It worked ok, at low speeds I had a lot of movement in the hitch and it could be felt in the truck. It almost felt like the hitch was loose and not tightened down. We followed all directions to a tee and torque specs were double checked. You could actually see the movement in the hitch when I was moving my trailer around in my driveway. I am not a fan of the movement and the feel I had.

12/26/2024

@Bryan Are you able to tell if it's the gooseneck hitch ball being loose or if the coupler portion is loose when hooked up to the hitch ball? Usually, people say that gooseneck couplers are a little trickier to couple up, but the connection is smoother than most 5th wheel hitches.

by:

Very nice product, everything fit my F250SD as stated. Shipping box came broken open and taped up and Instructions are a little confusing but installation is easy. I would purchase another one if needed.

The kit arrived in two days. The quality is very good. All the parts fit as described. We were able to install it in a few hours without a lift. We plan on pulling a 14,000 # trailer to move farm equipment. This trailer will replace an old 12,000# pintle hitch trailer. I would definitely recommend this kit to others.

Beautiful. We liked it so much we bought one for my sons truck.

by:

Everything was a bolt in as advertised. I did have some bed sagging issues that gave me some alignment issues, easy fix with the end of a floor jack. 1/4" made a huge difference. Leave it all finger tight and there is room for adjustment/centering. Patience and a bfh with a long drift, aligned perfect. FYI 4" hole saw and a deep 1 1/8" socket required for install. Very happy with everything overall.

by:

Love the hitch will be buying another one for my new truck. I haul this 32ft 12k lb horse trailer with 6 full size horses 4-5times a week. I’ve also hauled my flatbed with over 25klbs on it. It’s raited for 30k but I’m convinced it’ll take way more then that

by:

It took me half a day to install but it was pretty straight forward if you utilized the videos. The hitch has worked flawlessly but beware that your airbags might not work with this. Unfortunately I had to remove mine and will be purchasing an internal mount option. If I had looked into this further before purchasing I would have bought a different hitch that would have worked with my existing airbags.

The supplied mounting brackets didn't line up with anything on the frame. I had to modify the entire kit. I fo however like the locking mechanism.
