  There shouldn't be any significant "slop" or play with your Curt Ball # C60618. It sounds like once you lock the ball in place with the integrated lever you are still able to move it quite a bit.   Th Demco Recon gooseneck to fifth wheel adapter part # DM8550045 cannot be used with offset hitch balls like you asked about. This is because an offset ball has to sit higher than a standard height ball. Even if it would work it wouldn't be ideal though since it would move the pin weight of the trailer slightly behind the rear axle center line.
