Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area. You will have to remove the rear threshold and cargo trays to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this T-One vehicle wiring harness with four-pole flat trailer connector. Now, this wiring harness has been designed to fit your 2024 and newer Hyundai Sonata. And on custom fit parts such as this wiring harness, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide. On that vehicle fit guide, simply input the year, make, and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm if this harness will work for you or if we have another harness that will work for you. Now this harness is going to give you a four pole flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights.
This is also going to be compatible with five, six, and seven pull adapters. Those adapters are sold separately. One of the things that I really like about the Tekonsha wiring harness is they tether their cap to the plug housing here. So that cap is going to cover up those connection points of this plug when it's not in use, protecting them from moisture, dirt, and debris. Now the black box on this harness is a ModuLite power module.
The ModuLite is going to make sure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer, and this is going to connect directly to your vehicle's battery to avoid overloading its electrical system, reducing strain on the wiring system, and this will not affect how your taillights on your Sonata operate. This harness is designed to connect quickly and easily. There's not gonna be any splicing of wires, there's not gonna be any alterations to your vehicle's wiring, which could lead to damage and possibly voiding warranties. This custom fit T one connector is going to plug into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area. You might have to remove the rear threshold and cargo trace to access that harness.
And these T connectors are custom fitted for your Sonata, so they're gonna match up perfectly with the connection points on your vehicle. They're gonna snap and lock together for a tight secure fit. Now once you have these plugged in, you will need to make a good ground connection. The ground wire is this white wire. If you notice, it does have a ring terminal attached to it, and it does come with a self-tapping screw as you can see there.
So you're gonna be able to get this grounded to a suitable location such as your Sonata's frame or crossmember. You just wanna make sure that the surface is clean and rust free. Next, you will need to mount the ModuLite box to a safe out the way location. You can do that with another mounting screw that you might have on hand. You can run it through the top hole here. You could use the double-sided adhesive tape that's included with the kit, or maybe one of the many cable ties that's included with this kit. Next, you will need to run the hot lead to the vehicle's battery. That's the short black wire that's coming out of the ModuLite. This short black wire is going to get connected to one end of this included bundle of black wire using one of the included butt connectors. And then the other end of this bundle is going to get routed to your vehicle's battery. And once you have this routed to the battery, you're gonna take this fuse holder here and you're gonna snip that wire in half. And you're gonna take one of the wires with the second butt connector and connect it to the routed end of this bundle of black wire. And then with the other wire, you're gonna take this included ring terminal and attach that to that other wire and then attach that ring terminal to the positive post of your vehicle's battery. This does include a 15 amp fuse and that fuse will be inserted into this fuse holder. It does have a cap, so it's going to keep that fuse safe and protected. You're gonna be able to secure any excess or slack of in your wiring. Again with the cable ties, it's included with this kit. And then once installation is complete, the four-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area. Tekonsha does make one of my favorite wiring harnesses. They're well made. This is constructed of 16 gauge bonded wire, instructions are included to guide you through the installation process. It is also recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all of your electrical connections, such as the plugs on the vehicle and the four pole flat connector itself. That grease is designed to help prevent electrical failures caused by corrosion and moisture. So on your screen, I am including our item number for that grease. You can just take that item number, pop it in the search field of our website, that will take you to that grease, and you can add that to your order if you so desire. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that our time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
