Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness.
Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with the four-way flat trailer connector. Now, this is a custom fit part, it is designed to fit the 2020 and newer BMW X1 vehicles, and on a custom fit part like this, I always like to recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year model vehicle, and it'll show if this'll work for your application. Now, this kit will provide a four-way flat trailer connector for the back of your vehicle, to power your trailer's signal lights. It is compatible with 5 pole, 6 pole, and 7 pole adapters that we do sell separately on our website, and this kit does connect very quickly and easily. All you have to do is locate your connection points, which are behind the tail lights on your vehicle, plug in these T connectors, there's two of them, one on each side, one on the driver's side, one on the passenger side, ground the white wire right here, and then run this power wire to your vehicle's battery.
Now, this does include this black box right here, this is a ModuLite, and this is to ensure that your vehicle's wiring will match that of your trailer, and it is a powered module, so connects directly to your battery to avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Now, the wire that the four-way's attached to, that runs out the back to plug into your trailer, it is constructed of a 16 gauge bonded wire, and if you notice it has this integrated dust cover for the four-way, so when you're not plugged in, you can just put that cover over, and that'll protect those terminals from any damage or from the elements. A few specs on this, the maximum amperage for the stop and turn light circuit, it's five amps per circuit, for the tail lights, it's 7.5 amps per circuit. Does come with everything laid out here on the table. Just quickly, how you would install this, what you do again is go behind the rear or go to the rear of the vehicle, access behind the tail lights, and you'll have connectors that'll plug the harness to your tail lights, and plug these T connectors inline of those.
The yellow wire one will go to the driver's side with the yellow wire on it, one that has the green wire's for the passenger side. So once those are all plugged in, what you want to do is this ModuLite here, it has a little weight to it, so you don't want it bouncing around, has a little hole here that you could put a screw through to attach it, but you do wanna mount it to a nice flat surface, so it doesn't bounce around. If you don't wanna mount it that way, they do include a piece of double face tape that you can use on there to attach it. Once that's attached, you could run this bonded wire out the back, and then you have your two remaining wires, and we mentioned this white one with the eyelet on it, that's the connector to clean ground that's nearby, if there is one, you can use it if you need to make one, they do include a grounding screw that you could ground it with, and again, the last wire is this power wire that needs to run to the front of the vehicle to the vehicle's battery, and they do that by giving you this length of wire and the connectors, so you put a butt connector, and connect it to one end on this length of wire, and then run it up to the front of the vehicle to where the battery is, and then you'll take other end, right here, and once you to get up there, you don't wanna run this directly to the battery, you do wanna run it through this inline fuse holder. So you'll take the other butt connector, connect it to one side of the fuse holder, just like that, and then on the other side of the fuse holder, take this eyelet connector and attach that, and then that'll connect to your battery.
Once it's connected, pop open the fuse holder, they include this 15 amp fuse, just install that in your fuse holder, like that, put your cap back on, and your systems all ready to go. They do give you a complete set of instructions that'll describe how this all hooks up, and they do give you some extra cable ties to take up any slack in this wiring when you run it up to the front. But that should do it for the review on this T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with the four-way flat trailer connector..
The part did not work. Driving with no tail lights still.
