Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring. Powered converter reduces strain on wiring system.
Features:
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area on the driver's side and passenger's side. You will have to remove the rear threshold, floor covers, and some interior paneling to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, run the red hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins plug-in simple vehicle wiring harness with the four pull 00:00:06 flat trailer connector. This product fits certain years and models of the Nissan Murano. It's going to provide a four-way flat connector at the back of the vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights. This is compatible with five pull, six pull, and seven pull adapters. Adapters are sold separately. And, it's going to come with a dust cap for the four-way flat plug, that way, you can cover up those connection points when your plug is not being used.
It's just going to protect those connection points or those terminals. The unit also features protective connection terminals to resist corrosion as well. It's going to include a taillight converter. That's the black box right here. This is designed to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. The power module is going to connect directly to the vehicle battery through the wiring to avoid overloading the vehicle's electrical system.
This unit is designed to connect quickly and easily. All you have to do is locate the connection points in the rear cargo area, and then you're going to have two T connectors to get plugged in. This one right here with the yellow wiring is going to go to the driver's side, the one with the green wiring is going to go to the passenger side. These plugs are going to match up perfectly with the ports on the vehicle. It is custom fit for your vehicle, and they're going to snap lock together for a nice, tight, secure fit. Once you get those connected, you can mount your converter box in an out of the way location using the provided cable ties that come with the kit.
Then, you'll need to make a good ground connection. That's going to be your white wire with the ring terminal already attached to it. You want to get that grounded in a nice, clean, metal surface with the included grounding screw. Then, you'll need to run the hot lead to the vehicle battery. The hot lead is this red wire coming out of the box. It already has a butt connector attached to it, so you'd connect this to one end of the bundle of wire.
The other end of the bundle runs to the vehicle battery, gets connected to one half of the fuse holder with the butt connector. The other half of the fuse holder gets connected to the positive 00:01:47 post of the vehicle battery, and then you would install your fuse inside the fuse holder. It comes with a 20 amp fuse, goes directly in here, and then it's got the fuse cap to keep the fuse safe and protected. Once you have that done, you can secure any excess or slacking or wiring with the included cable ties. Then, once your installation is complete, the four-way connectors are going to be stowed beneath the vehicle near the trailer hitch. We recommend using a mounting bracket to keep the connector secure and easily accessible. Mounting brackets are sold separately, so if you're in need of one, you can check our your options here at etrailer.com. It's also a good idea that you use a small amount of grease on all your electrical connections like the plugs on the vehicle and the four pull connector itself. The grease is designed to help prevent corrosion to the connection points. That's included, also. That's going to do it for today's look at the Hopkins plug-in simple vehicle wiring harness with the four pull flat trailer connector.
