Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a real quick look at this Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with four pole flat trailer connector. Now this harness has been designed to fit your 2012 to 2017 Hyundai Accent Sedan. On custom fit parts such as this harness, I do recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide here at etrailer.com. Simply input the year, make, and model of your vehicle and our fit guide will confirm if this will work for you or if we have another harness that will work for you. Now this harness is going to give you a four pole flat trailer connector at the back of your Accent to power your trailer signal lights.

This is also going to be compatible with five, six, and seven pole adapters. Those adapters are sold separately and as you notice here, a dust cap is also included to cover up those connection points when the plug is not in use. And if you notice here, this black box, this is a taillight converter that's built into this T-connector vehicle wiring harness. Now because most trailers run on a two wire system where the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire, the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three way, three wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This converter box is going to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they can run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's taillights.

Now this will not affect how your taillights on your vehicle operate. By the way, Curt built each taillight converter using surface mount technology, giving you consistent, reliable performance. This is going to minimize trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat and it's going to ensure superior operation even in rough road conditions. This harness is designed to connect quickly and easily. These custom fit T-connectors are going to plug into your Accent's vehicle wiring harness, which is gonna be located behind the driver's side and passenger side interior trim panels in the rear cargo area.

So once you get these plugged in, you will need to mount this converter box to a safe out the way location. You could do that with double-sided adhesive tape that's included with this kit or maybe one of the many cable ties that's also included with this kit. And then speaking of cable ties, you can use those to secure any excess or slack in your wiring. And then once installation is complete, this four way connector can be stowed in an out of the way location within your cargo area. Now instructions are also included to guide you through the installation process.

You will get a self-tapping screw there. So you can ground your ground wire securely here. And this ground wire is the white wire with the ring terminal attached to it. One other recommendation that I wanted to make is, it is recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all of your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and the four pole flat connector itself. That grease is designed to help prevent electrical failures caused by corrosion and moisture. So if you're interested in taking a look at that grease, on your screen, I do have our part number there.
